Also I realized normally after a good deep condition I rarely need to layer my products… I rinse my deep conditioner fully and then go in with one gel (Jell-O shot rn) that’s gives my so much hold and definition I sometimes feel like I can go 2 weeks on my day 7 hair

I looooove aloe whipped butter gel. I’m obsessed. It was on sale at Walgreens and I picked up just two because it lasts a long time as well. I used to be an almond jai girl but I ran out one day and just used the butter with my botanical gel and I never looked back 😂 my tried and true combo is this with kinky curly custard. But yeah if you’re lil heavy handed with it, it can flake or cause a slight grayish cast. Lots of water and letting it absorb in your hair helps a ton.

You can also try to put on a shower cap after styling and let it marinate for a few min and the products get a chance to absorb more. Then you go under the dryer. The curls look great though 😊

I’ve really been thinking about this and I’ve heard that it’s a game changer, letting it marinate under a cap but my patience is so thin lol. But, what’s one more thing to add if it’ll make a difference? I’ll give it a try. Thank you.

I did a rosemary scalp wet mid week with the curl magic products in and wet it a tad too much. So much so that I had to go to bed with a shower cap on. The next morning my curls were so hydrated and luscious to my surprise. So yes, def try marinating the curls. I also go in with a shirt and dry the access white off before drying, and I also still get flakes. It’s worth it to me though bc my 4c curls get tamed by Miss Camilla Chile. Iss okay 🤗

I love the Curl Maker but I find that gels with that type of consistency (Kinky Curly Custard is another one) just flake on me over the course of the week no matter what. I agree with what other commenters have said about letting the leave-in sink into the hair for a few minutes before going in with the gel. Also, have you tried “Plopping” by gently wrapping your hair with an old shirt or hair towel for a few minutes after you set with the gel? That would help with absorbing any of the excess product that can lead to flakes and shouldn’t disturb your curls.

  • @BrittanyMia

    @BrittanyMia

    Жыл бұрын

I agree. I love the kinky curly custard, and I like the curl maker, but it’s always a gamble with the flakes. Yes, typically I add the leave in all over first, but I was just going twist by twist this time so next time I’ll allow the LI to really sink into the hair before going in with a gel. And yes, I’ve heard of plopping, so I’ll have to give that a try to get that excess up.

She acts up.(lol) Lately, it seems I have been using too many products just to define my hair. I have begun doing my hair in the shower, but I do not use a dryer once a week. I define daily by air drying. This is my problem. I may be putting too much in my hair, because though things look like they may pair well, once in my head, everything is white. I will keep studying to learn. We haven't gotten along with Camille, Uncle F, Aunt Jackie, the Doux, and I can go on. And, I kicked Cantu to the curb. Lately, I have been using Kinky Curly. Love it but again if I add enough to define, everything is white. Again, your hair is gorgeous! 🥰❤

I use this combo all the time along with the honey hydrate for mini twists and NEVER get flakes. But, what I do differently is wash, deep condition, etc the day before actually styling and apply the honey hydrate in sections. Allow that to dry fully, and sit and marinate in the hair. Then, the following day, apply the Butter Gel to DAMP hair, not soaking wet but work it in WELL before applying just a LITTLE of the curl maker. I think adding too much makes it flake as well. After I’ve finished styling, I diffuse and boom! Perfect, soft, moisturized and fluffy hair with NO flakes 🥰 I’ve never tried the combo for a wash n go but after seeing your video and how juicy your curls are imma definitely try it out! 😍😅

I’m learning things about myself when it comes to washing my hair and right now I’m leaning towards pre-pooing with a conditioner or a treatment, because it will save me time detangling, which takes me the most time during my wash days. So even if I don’t cleanse my hair in sections, it’s a lot faster because of the lack of tangles! I really only wash my hair in sections now when my scalp is super itchy and I wanna make sure that I’m reaching it thoroughly. Hope that helps. When it comes to Camille Rose Products, I love how it defines my hair and gives me the look that I want, but I hate that it constantly flakes on me even when I think it’s not I look back at footage and it definitely is. I want to support the brand, but after I use these products up, I probably won’t be purchasing much more from Camille Rose. I really walked around that week thinking everything was good and looked back at my footage last week, and immediately was annoyed 😭 I absolutely loved the look, but damn does it have to snow on me every time.

So happy you finally tried the Aloe Butter Gel. When I used it, it was to finger coil on hydrated damp hair. My curls are tight like yours and highly dense and the way that butter _tamed_ my hair was amazing. It was limp from the heaviness yet hydrated 😩. It dried so soft. Maybe It is the perfect balance between a hydrating and moisturizing product. It feels heavy. And wow does it have actual hold. Again i didn’t apply on soaking wet hair. The gel is great and doesn’t flake with *anything* for me (Excluding botanical gels. They gave me trust issues sorry lol) Wonder if you’ll try this cream with a mousse like the Honey Spiked mousse. I’ve never seen someone pair a cream and mousse. Wonder if that would cause too little hold? And the Camille Rose mousse smells amazing!

I think next time I’ll try it with that and see if it flakes. Truthfully, I’ve never thought of combining a mouse with a cream, but that could be a great combination for the volume plus the hold that I want. Thanks for the suggestion!

Here's the lesson that I learned from Jennifer Rose NYC. She said that she only ever recommends styling with foam or gel because creams never completely dry. It's probably why you experienced the flaking and why the set "feels" moisturized for six days. It's simply not drying so it can never completely set.

Using the butter and gel leave my curls frizzy unless I sit for 45mins under a dryer - too much work for me..

Do you test how the products will mix on your hand before putting it in your hair? If the combo you want to use becomes chunky or forms small clumps in your hand instead of being creamy and smooth than your combo is going to flake because the products don’t mix, maybe try that next time to avoid combos that cause flakes but regardless i love the look 🙌🏾💗

That’s what’s so frustrating because I like these products but I don’t wanna have to play a guessing game as to whether it will snow on me or not. I’d rather just find products that I don’t have to work hard with to make them work for my hair. I have my staples, but I don’t like being married to any particular products so I’m still trying other things.

Loved the combo on you !! The only thing i dislike about the camille Rose Gel is that i live in texas, and the humidity is horrible . So it gets gummy and stuff, so i may have to try it again to see if it still does that . Also, it may be the water that's causing the product at the end . I recently went to a curl specialist, and when she put on curly magic and papaya slip , baby, i didn't have one drip of water on my skin 👏. So yeah, maybe less water, but you're the only person who can determine that.

Do you wanna know something Interesting? I’ve been using creams on my hair ever since I started my Wash N Go journey, never have I ever stopped completely using oils and butters. But, for those months late last year where I went without using a cream on my hair, I noticed a lot of limpness in my hair. And I truly believe that’s where my hair started to show signs of Hygral fatigue. Even at my last salon appointment, Breanna and I spoke about it and she also mentioned that people who do twist outs and braid outs and tend to use a cream to style their hair Don’t typically deal with limp hair and Hygral fatigue because they’re balancing it out by using those cream products. And that’s when I knew. I’ve been seeing a lot of people on the no oil’s, no butters journey yet they’re struggling with breakage and limp dry hair. I believe it is a matter of balance. Because too much of the water, and gels was killing my hair. It wasn’t until I started using OlaPlex that my hair started to jump back and now that I’ve been integrating more creamy leave-ins and cream based stylers, my hair is like “thank you this is what I’ve been asking for” 😂 So for me, I think it is a matter of balance. I still don’t use raw oils and butters, but products with butters and their first ingredient are my friend, so long as I’m washing my hair on a regular weekly, or twice a week basis. I just wrote a dissertation LMAO but I really wanted to share what I found because I completely understand. But the issues I was dealing with when I made that “wash and go’s are breaking off my hair” video I am no longer dealing with, and I truly atest it to the bond builders and to integrating creams back into my wash days. Yes, our hair needs hydration, but too much hydration, just like too much of any good thing, can kill you as well. Food for thought 🤎

No oils and butters mean no *raw* oils and butter. The Camille Rose Aloe Butter Gel is formulated with water and other ingredients and don’t sit on the hair like straight raw oil or shea/mango butter does. It’s not the same and is okay and acceptable.

It could also be that your hair needs some protein.. overly moisturized hair won’t retain the definition & the hair will go all frizzy just like too much protein can… But for those who only like to use moisturizing products, especially botanical products, just add a little protein to your next wash day (in your deep conditioning) & see what happens

I heard that Jell-O Shot is one of THE BEST botanical in the game as it is "extremely moisturizing" with a "10 out of 10 hold" and to be honest the reviews are very convincing and consistent with the ones I've seen dealing with type 3 to 4 hair. I do get the white look when I use a bit more but it hasn’t flaked because it is still a small amount. And I don’t let the product soak in at all. I apply the butter, then my eco gel and define. Maybe next time try a third or half of what you used and build up if you need more. I do like it but I personally think it might be too thick for my strands.
