Everytime I'm reading up someone's CV and am impressed of their B.A.s or M.A.s or whatever, I can't help but wonder what they've actually learned. They were asking mostly High Schoolers in this video as it seems and I know they of course cut to the best failures. But I've also seen lots of Collegers get these wrong, so what's it even worth. 😂🤔🧐

On a serious note, many American schools have stopped teaching how to read time on a clock because most people get the time from their phones. There has also been a push to stop teaching cursive writing since most people spend their days typing on a computer or phone screen.

Mother of teens/ young adults... I was FLOORED when my 16 year old son didn't know the months of the year in order. I immediately sang him the months of the year song they taught US in KINDERGARTEN, over and over until it sank in his head. They don't teach our kids anything anymore.

To be fair, how important it really is to know some arbitrarily decided names for months? I'm from Finland and struggle to remember the names (be it Finnish or English) of months that are closer to the end of the year. But in such a case, I would just say, like "10th month" instead. (On closer thinking, I've actually done that! 😄) Also, I've noticed that not all languages even have specific names for months, and instead they just use a number (1-12) and the word for "month" in the language in question. Besides, if you think about the English names of months, several of them (the ones with -ber ending) are in the same "nth month format" in some foreign language (Italian? Latin?🤔) that they originate from, but because of how long ago the names were set, things like even counting time have changed, and they are now off by two months. The "septem" (in some form) clearly means seven, "octo" means eight, "novem" means nine and "decem" means ten. So basically, the months used to be called by numbers, but when the meaning was lost in translation at some point and became some kind of gospel, then the names became out of date when calendar was revised, and now people are expected to learn this long-outdated piece of information like it was something important 🙄. It's actually hilarious if you think about it 😂. ...Aand one more thing. I wonder how many _religious_ ChRiStIaN Americans realize that at least some of the early months of the year are named after some Roman or Greek gods (Janus, Mars). 😄

You are my trope man...my friends and I always share this daily life occurrences...it's Luke they don't want to think...to have a second thought in nothing at all!

My dad made me send letters to embassies requesting them a book about their culture when I was in primary school. He thought this would improve my letter writing skills (which was considered important at one point of time in history). I have a nice collection of small books and posters that I received which I have passed on to my son now as collectibles. Not to mention I hardly have to google when someone mentions a country or their capital or currency or language or flag.

This is why i have analogue clocks in my common rooms. When my nephews/nieces come over, i offer their favourite treats to tell me the time or i give them a sheet with clock faces showing times, spread them out & if they get almost all to all of them right then they get excellent treats. Consequently they ALL could read clocks not just digital ones. Bribery works well lol.

Probably they’ve left their state. VERY few people haven’t done that, even at their young age. But the USA is so big that you’ve really got to go out of your way to need a passport. Pretty sure we can even go to Canada without one, if you live in the right state.

Are you kidding me....holy crap....I was born in Africa, South Africa, to be exact, grew up there until I was 16. I knew what was coming before the footage showing the level of ignorance even played. As soon as you said here we go....I died laughing.

this reminds me of that guy who made people point places on Africa map and someone mention Tennessee somewhere around there lol.

They go out in public and "interview" either fake people or edit out good answers to perpetuate the "this says a lot about society" nonsense for fake deep people who want to feel smarter than some fake people. When i was in highschool i talked to the vice principal and he told me 82% of the kids there could not read analog clocks. I didnt believe him but i remember asking one of the teachers, AND THEY DIDNT KNOW. But the worst part about it was, SHE WAS A MATH TEACHER!!!! 😂😂😂

@@MrRagday Gee. Why should a math teacher need to know how to read an analogue clock? Also, there are still plenty of places you can go and find analogue clocks. Just like even with Google maps knowing how to read a map is still a valuable skill.

As a man that has been living in Mexico for 11 years now, I am from the United States of America. I can name more than three countries especially outside of the western hemisphere. I am not the best at geography, I am getting better as I learn more about it everyday.

But being in school isn't an excuse, they should know more than those who have left school. Like I expect someone of School age to know more Algebra than I do because I haven't studied it since being in school.
