Well, if you drift a 4WD car, you don’t particularly need to countersteer. So, I don’t really know...

Like many others have said, can't compare to OG Top Gear but if it was a seperate series it'd probably be quite good. These guys may not have as much chemistry, but they're decently funny and seem to be having a genuinely good time, which is more than can be said for new Top Gear UK.

While I love Top Gear UK, I’ll always have a soft spot for this show since the track stuff was filmed near to where I grew up. Is TGUSA as good as TGUK? No, but it’s still a damn fine show and the hosts of both have a special place in my heart

There's a difference between drift and power slide, he didn't hold an angle at all except for the limo. Only thing that happened in the food truck, RV and bus is a little bit of peeling.

TG:UK has a more humorous style to it's shows and rarely takes anything seriously, meanwhile, TG:US is more informative and accurate about the cars that they drive. When you think about it, just because they have the same name, doesn't really mean they can be compared.

Drifting on a skidpan was standard training for UK bus drivers - in double deckers. It's amazing how stable they are. (Coil springs, double wishbone IFS, aluminium monocoque, designed by the people who did the Lancaster bomber...)

i think he actually drifted the bus despite Adam and Rut saying otherwise.. instead the food wagon is not so much.. the only one he failed was the RV

Up here in Canada, Winnipeg to be specific- our buses legitimately drift once the snow hits and it feels as if the bus has left the ground

this would be awesome to try on winter, I'm from Finland and here you can see almost every winter how trucks and bigger vehicles loose the back tires on turns and come in like drifting, so it would be nice to see them test some vehicles on snow too at the show :D

The reason the bus shut off is cause it felt like it was gunna roll so it cut all system functions. If that bus was a volvo Mercedes or man he could have drifted it easily.

No argument here - I think the difference is that the UK guys have better chemistry. If you watch the earliest seasons of TG UK, the chemistry hadn't developed yet, and it reminds me of the first two seasons of TG USA. TG USA has been getting better, so maybe it just takes time. Peace

To me it's like they are different shows I don't understand why you can't enjoy both its not like they're trying to replace one another. They can both exist. Reading these comments feels like Xbox vs PlayStation wars.

the issue here seems to be that the vehicles he is trying to drift are all automatic, get a proper gearbox in there and that bus will be sideways

The US version used to be really really good. It was a lot like the UK version. They did interviews with celebrities, and they did more than just challenges. But, for some reason, they decided it would be better to just do challenges. So, it wasn't ALL about spending a crap-ton of money before...

Given the fact that a traditional "Drift" is accomplished by over-spinning (or breaking traction) of the drive tires in a rear-wheeled vehicle and counter-steering the steer tires making sure to adjust the power and spin speed of the drive wheels on the fly to adjust the rotation of the vehicle in order to facilitate continuous forward momentum through a corner, the only vehicle he "drifted" was the limo.

I don't care if you define those things as drifting, the driving was damn impressive for those vehicles

The fact that this is better than the "NEW" Top Gear UK is unbelievable

I always come to these Top Gear USA videos and scroll down hoping to see some comments talking about the actual content of the episode, but it's usually just people saying how "The UK version is much better." The thing is, the hate for the US version is completely unwarranted. For the first two seasons, it is understandable. The US team pretty much copied the most iconic episodes from the UK show which may have led to a bunch of less-than-happy fans, but from the third season on, the US team has been doing pretty much a completely separate show, and it is pretty entertaining to watch. I actually prefer the US show because I like the cast better. A professional rally driver, a car expert with a NASCAR background, and an actor/comedian make for a much better group of contrasting personalities than three random journalists who happen to be put on a TV show and make clever jokes. The show itself is pretty good now that they are no longer trying to emulate the British show. With the BBC sacking Clarkson, this is now the future of Top Gear and it will become known as the main show. Maybe now that the two shows will operate as separate franchises, people will realize that the US version isn't all that bad.
