to this day I STILL remember the only time I had my boots professionally shined. it was in the mid 80's, I was serving in the military, and the on-base shoe shiner did it. it was great, right after the best haircut i ever had, done by the base barber! both were for a personal inspection I was going to have the next day. I use those memories to help me go to sleep sometimes, now I have this!

It was all hard work, but I made very good money shinning shoes. By the time I was 16 I was able to buy a car on my own. Truth be told......I wish I had never given it up. This brings back amazing memories of when my abuelo taught me how to shine shoes. I was around 4-5 years old and we’d sit on the bench in front of the house and he’d pass me the brushes and let me shine his shoes. I wish I could do the little things with him again. He’s getting older and weaker as time goes on, but he’ll never stop being the person that I cherish the most.
