You know this is exactly what I was afraid of when I bought my first house and it happened to be in a HOA. When I bought I didn't pay much attention to manager that was in a semi house as it was a new neighborhood and being 38, even if it's late to be my first house, I never payed attention to HOAs as there's not many in my county. I think this is the second one and now all the new neighborhoods have them that are currently going up, but not selling at the moment. Anyways, a few weeks before I officially signed, he gave me a memory card and said to look through the entire rule book and I didn't and the day I signed I finally opened it up and there was about 40-50 pages of rules to follow and I regretted not opening and reading it. Luckily, I have great neighbors and I can't complain about a majority of the neighborhood as I haven't heard of any trouble going on 2-2.5 years now and even when people "broke" the rules, nothing happened. I guess my HOA is the exception because I feel like these homeowners have the attitude of it's your home and as long as you keep it looking decent, so as you want. I sighed at the rule of not washing your car in the driveway and honestly didn't do it for a few months was it was super cold getting into winter and snowing some days and just easier to wash the salt off for a few quarters, then warmer months came and I was driving to wash my car and seen a few other people washing theirs in the driveway and turned back and washed mine at home and had no problems since.

I had a house once. Right after i moved in, three different neighbors randomly walked on to my property over a months time to tell me what they thought i should do with my home and lawn. I asked each of them why they didn't buy the place so they could make all of their dreams come true. I never did get a good answer. But, standing up to them made them understand where they stood with me.

My parents when they moved into their house in 2012 build a fence because we had our dogs. And the neighbor didn't like the color of the fence, and my dad did not want to paint the fence so my dad told him if you want to paint it go ahead. I don't care but I'm not paying for it. Guess what the neighbor did. He went and painted it the color that he liked. Sure, it looks strange half the fence painted but my dad does not care. It's only on his side of the property anyway. 😅

I think these kids just didn’t learn what was normal in the 1900’s. You don’t care about matching your neighbors colors? And I get maybe white doesn’t count. But we painted our green over the course of a couple weeks. Halfway through the slum lord that bought next door house painted it in one day my exact color. It looks ridiculous. This must be the same crowd of young adults that think you tip in advance and on credit cards. Tips are always after the service and always in cash. 😊

I love my neighbors. Best in the world. I've talked to them all 4 times total over the 2 years since my wife and I bought our house and one was about a lost turtle. Great people.

I had the same thing happen to me. I live in an historic district and a neighbor busybody stopped with "approved historic colors from 1910." I laughed with her and told her that my house was the "newest" in the neighborhood, being built in 1948, and the color I had painted it was the same color it had been painted when it was built.....and had never been repainted until 65 years later. I thanked her for noticing all the work that I had done.

He was trying so hard to agree with the man’s frustrations 😂

A house that got flipped on our street DID get painted in those colors! The brick porch and chimney got painted piss yellow, the body is mildew green, and the trim is reddish purple, and the porch steps are neon purple 🤮 It's HIDEOUS 😅 (and not selling)

In many track home every one is painted in 1 of 4 versions of one color. Grow up, little man. Besides, I heard that copying was the best compliment. Leave each other alone. It sounds like the big white house is still living his toddler life.

thats one of those "i wish i had said this" moments... to be like, "really? because i had heard from from the neighborhood that yours was the little sister? thats weird!"

When we were building homes with similar styles to our neighbors at the same time we did a small amount of coordination to make sure that the colors wouldn’t be the same. That being said it’s courtesy to not paint you house to look like the neighbors but in no way required, unless an HOA guidelines state so or HOA is required to approve.

A buddy of mine (former Army Infantry, & trained flight medic, etc...) & his wife found themselves a few years ago dealing with a next-door neighbor whose health deteriorated. Consequently, the neighbor took in renters to help with things & they took advantage of him, to the point where the house always had a "rotation" of jobless ex-cons & various meth-head couch-surfers, the garage, and three travel trailers parked on the property were made into "cooking labs". Worse, "stop-and-go" vehicle traffic out in front of the place quintupled, became day & night constant, and there were always 3 to 5 big brutish, aggressive, barking pit bull mixes in the back yard across their shared fenceline...adjacent to where my buddy's 2 small children played. My friend & his wife *celebrated* when that crew got tossed out, & a new owner took over & began cleaning up, hauling away trash, clearing brush and debris, painting, renovating...!

I would have said who gives a shit and hung up. This guy is way too nice lol

It doesn't sound like Mr. Karen matured past elementary school.

The neighbor doesn’t seem to appreciate what’s really important, which is the house flipper is improving the home and also contributing to increased property values for the other homes around it.
