I absolutely love the detail of Scar’s hair slowly turning white with each life he losses. It’s like the idea of “the color faded from his eyes”, but instead it’s “the color faded from his hair”. I don’t think an animatic has ever made me feel so much. Everything about this from the details to the choice of song just perfectly captures how tragic of a season this was for desertduo and Scar in particular.

Scar's death in this is just absolutely tragic- the way he reaches out for 3rd life grian... Wonderful job!!! :D

I love they way Grian looks so soulless, like he doesn't know what its like to be in a mortal body; still the watcher. The way he always looks so confused and hurt, it fuels me in a way i could never understand. Outstanding animation, Bravo!!

Unfortunately, i too am in the same boat. I know just enough to know kind of what the Watcher is, but not the lore behind it. Im pretty sure that the Watcher originates from an earlier series, Evo SMP. I think the Watcher is sort of an omniscient, ever looming god who just watches them. And from what I’ve gathered, Grian the character, is a Watcher (originally or forced, idk) and was sent to the others. I just know that G is usually symbolized by the purple eye thingy. :] please, whoever reads this, correct me if i am wrong

@@keleam4689 I don't know too much, but the watchers come from EVO, where grian wanted to leave the series, everyone went to the end to fight the dragon and were pulled into different dragon fights, and the end poem was altered to be someone joining two other people. When everyone got back, grian was missing. After that the rest tried to escape the watchers and stuff happened idk. for the life series, the watchers feed off of negative emotions so they pit everyone in a death game and then feed on their emotions in between (explaining why everyone remembers previous seasons but aren't still mad about the way it went down). grian joins the death game to try and stop it which is why he has the lighting power i think. Also the secret keeper is a watcher with the watcher logo on his(their?) face

FUCKKK GOD THIS IS AMAZING!!!! I absolutely adore how Scar's hair turns white with his loneliness and Aaaaa Also. Grian with the poppy made me think of something. Grian's skin is red. In Last Life, Scar's is purple. Poppies and lilacs. GODDAMMIT.

Yooooo color! In all seriousness, this is very well done. I've mentioned before how I adore the movement you put into the elements of each frame, so I'll gloss over that, and just say that you did a great job translating that style to a slower, more dramatic song. I appreciate how you focused on the individual experiences of Grian and Scar, as well as their distant relationship in this season. I especially love 1:17, highlighting Scar's tragic episode where he dropped all the way to his last life. Arranging the hearts around his head and shoulders, just as they were at 0:20 is a clever callback. 1:12 is also a fantastically composed frame, using foreshortening on the pickaxe in order to create a sense of depth, as well as make Grian feel more threatening. Obscuring Mumbo's face in the top of the frame makes it feel as though Grian is threatening the audience, which really adds to this frame.

wowowow yknow i never really see a lot of focus put on desertduo in last life, but sheesh, this really got me...even though it's the season where they probably interact the least (second to limlife, maybe?), you still managed to draw upon all of the poignant moments and dredge up every painful feeling left over from 3rd life. i love your designs and your use colour is positively stunning!! i love this so much!!!!

this twists the story of last life in a way that leads to double life perfectly(idk scars perspective, so it may be less of a "twist" than i think it is, but my point still stands)

I would think it be a really good idea to remake the life series but from a more thematic perspective. Like take inspiration from the story the lifers made and write a new story with themes and the events of the life series. I guess kinda what Shakespeare did with his plays.
