some systems cant read usb because of the its formated. you can use NTFS, exfat or FAT32 depending on the filesystem the computer can read. Its usually a BIOS problem

@@trentbolognani2509 If you are using a Mac you need to format it into exfat then put the contents of windows10 iso in the drive not the iso itself the contents of it

After 13 hours of straight frustration. I was able to finally GET IT TO WORK! The harder the battle the sweeter the victory! After enabling Legacy and disabling secure boot, Make sure to change the "Internal USB 3.0 Controller" from "Enabled" TO "AUTO". I hope this saves someone 13 hours!

Solution for my Dell Inspiron laptop was to recreate my USB boot drive (Rufus) using NTFS rather than FAT32. After this change, the flash drive appeared as a UEFI boot option. Hope this helps someone.

Pls help, just setup a b550m-ds3h with ryzen 5600x and 2x8 DDR4.. i put in my old install usb (used on my old phenom ii x4, classic blue bios), the flash i formatted to mbr via rufus.. now in my new build it "boots" but hangs on a logo center screen.. anything i could doo with that or i have to reflash the flash to uefi???

When i start boot from usb it shows me a screen saying "Recovery" on the top. It says a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

I've seen some (mostly older) USB thumb drives which simply won't boot - even if they've been wiped and created with Rufus the same as any other USB drive. They work fine for storing data but just won't boot even though they show up correctly in the UEFI list.

Nice, but what if BIOS options are locked e.g., Secure Boot option is all greyed out etc..???

my dad laptop not boot from usb, its UEFI when it try to boot it just ended in acer logo and boot again its like bootloop, but when i change to legacy bios it works boot from usb, but i cant install the windows because its GPT should i try another way so i can boot from UEFI, or i should change the disk to MBR?

I changed my hard drive for a new one, try to install windows using usb boot but it doesnt worked. I thought it were the usb ports, but the windows files seems to be loading at the beggining then suddenly stopped. i tried everything. it was windows installer in the usb, some fiel was deleted or some AV ate some file and that's was the problem. I just rufus the usb again and then it worked.

Attention!! Always check first if you computer is even able to switch. I did it in my case and nearly got a heartattack as my computer continued looping in a boot window which didnt go anywhere. After 1 hour I somehow managed to get back to the bios from there and switch it back

If you have a UEFI Bios it requires FAT32 filesystem for any usb bootable device, but if you have an MBR system then you can use NTFS file system

I am installing RedStar OS on my computer. I have a .ISO on a flash drive. The computer boots the Operating system however, it stays on the RedStar logo and continues to load for hours. Any suggestions?

happened to me ..i even get black screen and window cant detect the usb as a bootable device..you need to try turning of secure mode and UEFI..then save then restart once again then enter BIOS(possibly , press F2 and delete button continuously at the same time)..you will now that your bootable USB is selectable at boot options-this is if theres really no issue on your USB drive or port)

Hi there; I can't boot and run Windows 7 Installation USB Stick in UEFI mode at all! I've searched and tried many different recommended ways but none of them works! I can't go through installing windows 7. my computer (HP ProOne 600 G2 AIO) wont boot windows 7 in UEFI mode, not even from USB installation stick! (I've tried several ways to modify files on USB but no way!) I'm going to start learning/trying Linux and my Linux display is splitted shaking in Legacy mode; when I Disable Legacy in Bios, Linux display is fine but I can't boot my Windows 7 and if I enable Legacy in Bios to have my windows 7 back, then Linux Display is corrupted! I need to have Windows 7 in UEFI mode! any idea please?

@@Explore_ceylon here is the thing, I want my system in UEFI mode due my Linux Mint or Ubuntu display gets shaking splitted in 2 part and when I disable Legacy in Bios it's okay but I can't boot to my current Windows 7 or Windows 7 installation USB stick!

The bootable usb need also to be prepared in mbr and not gpt... this is important

@@licanisbeastilarica5761 ok I will do my best to explain: 1- you need to know if your motherboard is Lagacy (old ones) or UEFI (most recent motherboard let say from 2010 and up). 2- once you know the bios type of your motherboard, you can download an image of windows. 3- if your motherboard is Lagacy you need absolutely to specify MBR when you burn the windows to the flash drive, if your motherboard is UEFI then use GPT ( all this can be done using refus) One last thing if your motherboard is lagacy you wan't be able to install windows to an ssd drive you need absolutely HDD. Hope this can help
