Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
After taking a trip up to Scotland to visit Drum Clog Off-Road Centre, there's only one way we could top it....by crossing the english channel!
We teamed up with @grittoutdoors to head over to Parc Du Marquenterre, for a 3 day adventure! 🇫🇷
Set in a huge nature reserve, the park boasts sand dunes, steep climbs, bomb holes, pine woodlands, swamps, making for one of the trickiest and scenic off road courses we've been on! 🤩
Mellor and Rob join the team at Gritt and a host of vehicles ranging from Land Rovers, to Rangers and even a Mitsubishi! 👀
Missed out on this trip? make sure to head over to Gritt Outdoors website to catch any future adventures they will be hosting - grittoutdoors.co.uk/product-c...

Love to see all that Transporter action and Danny's Touareg sounds the best. :)
Good to see the 4Motion Transporter off road action.

It performed better than expected!
We ran 18psi all round on the Touareg In West Aus (OZ) we do a lot of sand and beach driving I would have been at 10-15 psi in my 580 Amarok
Brilliant video and some good shots of the Delica 📹😁👍❤️

Thanks, was great to see it in action!
Fair do the toureg seemed about the most capable on those loose hills. Easily a match for the discos. But as always tyre choice made the biggest difference.
Excellent video that place looks ace. Good to see Rob out in the Transporter. Can we have some more details regarding the winch please as I’m considering one for mine.

I'm not far in the video but i predict every vehicle they took here came back home with some significant damage. Dakar and Baja trucks are another league ahead in off road capability.

A few scratches and a broken ladder but no significant damage really. That said the Dakar and Baja trucks are on another level

Looks like you guys had fun! What did you drop your tyre pressures down too? Some of the side walls looked fat! In my T4 Syncro I drop my 215/75/15 BFG ATs (better than MTs on sand) to 18psi, knowing I can go down to 8psi if really needs be! Just gotta watch I don't pop the bead of the rim when that low, or do any tight cornering 😮

We ran 18psi all round on the Touareg, not sure what Rob dropped them to on the Transporter. We could have gone lower but as you mentioned we’re a little cautious about knocking them off like the Discovery did at the end 🙈
would have liked to see a shogun 2011 3.2 d how it would done..
Go down to 8-12 psi on sand if you're struggling, especially all these light cars, they'll eat it up.
@ReedMalcolm378

Light? The Touareg is the heaviest vehicle in its category… 10psi is going to endanger the tire itself causing punctures
@tomgoodyer12
Ай бұрын
@@ReedMalcolm378 2.1 tonne is light mate, take it from the aussies who actually do beach driving, you can go down to as low as 5psi. We run 3.5+ tonne fully loaded rigs down to 5psi if you get stuck, once unstuck, back up to 10psi. Don't talk about what you don't know, tyres aren't getting punctured by sand granules, especially when you run the correct pressure you don't have to give it so much right boot. Simple trick, 15psi is the starting pressure on the sand, 10psi if you're still struggling to gain traction, 5psi is if you've cooked it, and don't spin the tyres in deeper as it makes for a lot of digging.
Bon Jour 👍

Ok…what’s Rob’s spec!lol 😮 we need to see more of this van! Joking aside I need a t5/6 4motion in my life..ideally lwb but not high roof ice cream van style!lol..what’s the best version/engine to go for in robs opinion where reliability is most important being off grid/beaten track, just a couple traveling … I’d actually be happier with an older van.. my 59 plate 84bhp t5 with the brr has been the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned . Obviously won’t be doing this type of thing on our own but certainly the least traveled roads we can get to 👍🏼 Awesome video 😊

It's a CR140 definitely the most reliable of the common rail transporter engines. We'll do a quick walk around video or full spec list shortly. It's also likely to be for sale in the coming months so drop an email if your interested. (1 careful owner 😂)
Touareg they put it in auto sport or did all in manual?

Crikey - I have only one word - overinflation. You guys were all running way too much tyre pressure for the sand. I have crossed the Simpson Desert three times in a 3L Patrol (read no power at all) loaded to the max with water and other essential stuff, probably 3500kg. There are over 1000 sand dunes in the Simpson crossing, those little sand mounds in the video would number 4,000 more at least. I run 15psi for most of the dunes, and the two largest and softest ones down to 12psi.
@DarksideDevelopments

Out of interest what wheels and tyres were you running? Van has to run a 17" rim due to brake size and with a 245 / 65 / 17 it has quite a shallow profile. That coupled with already limited ground clearance I was reluctant to go below 20psi. We definitely need to do more testing with lower tyre pressures though.

@@DarksideDevelopments I run 285/75/16 (33") Nitto Trail Grapplers 10 Ply rating on the Patrol. The thing to watch when running very low pressures is not to swerve drastically (as many in your vid were doing) as it's easier to roll a tyre off the rim. However, when very low pressure is used, you can climb the sand at walking pace. Traction control is also a massive enemy in sand - the Patrol doesn't have any, just a diff lock in the front and LSD rear. I would go down to 5psi if needed in the remoteness of the desert, but haven't needed to.
Is that ford raptor stock? Looks like nothing could stop it
@DarksideDevelopments
Ай бұрын
Yes but a stock raptor isn’t very stock 😅 it has fancy Fox suspension with remote reservoirs etc, they’re built for it and very capable
Cool, how much power does this Transporter have?
