Here in Hawaii, those fish you called hiwi hiwi (idk how to spell the the name) are known as po’opa’a, or stocky hawkfish. Taste pretty good. Very delicate meat

We usually used live bait baby kahawai or yellow eye mullet,

When we start catching rock cod we move spots.

We do not have GTs in NZ, we have kingfish which are good fighters.

You around the area for a while? Im in hamilton and always needing fishing mates

You didn’t really target the yellowtail at all. What about using a live mackerel or something on a slip line?

At the end of the video I summarize that we couldn't catch any kahawai or bait fish to live line for yellowtail. We had the rig ready and waiting but couldn't catch any bait.
