If you're a fan of this style of gameplay, it's fairly well supported even in the modern day! 40k spawned the quite successful Necromunda, and then the fantasy version Mordheim. Same simple premise: build a gang of unsavoury characters, get into fights with other gangs to earn loot and glory, with each "game" you play having some persistent impact on your local playgroup's ongoing "campaign." Example: Red Gang and Blue Gang both show up to game night & decide to play, they roll the random scenario "ambush" and Red Gang delivers a brutal beatdown. Blue Gang's heaviest hitter gets shanked and, despite his crew's best efforts, the doc can't save him. So now Blue Gang has lost a champion to an (unprovoked) ambush, which stings, and the rest of the gang (plus the player) want revenge against the Red Gang idiot who did it. Meanwhile the leader of Yellow Gang is in an absolute fury, because Red Gang "stole their kill" and now looks like they could be a serious threat. Yellow challenges Red, and they agree to meet on an especially dangerous battlefield, where horrible (and permanent) injury awaits any ganger that doesn't watch their step. Secretly (but openly to the players, of course), Red Gang contacts Green Gang for backup, and the four gangs meet for a brutal 2v2 honour duel. Of course, -someone- decides to cheat...
Having Ben as a Gm helps make it feel so much more cinematic and epic. Would love to see more like this!

3:30 If someone tried to start that airplane while it is missing a propeller blade, then the plane would shake violently for a few seconds before the engine tears itself off of its mounts and spins away, before stopping from losing its fuel supply. This is because the center of gravity for a propeller must sit exactly in the middle of the driveshaft, otherwise it acts as a giant rumble motor as the propeller spins. Honestly, very fitting for an Indiana Jones movie. Source: I am a pilot and an armchair aeronautical engineer. Also, a blade separation just like this happened in flight to a twin-engined Piper Navajo in the 90’s, with the right engine losing a propeller blade, that engine shaking itself off of the airplane as described, while the detached blade hit and broke the propeller on the left engine on its way out, causing that engine to stop. The pilot briefly lost control of the plane, but was able to recover and crash landed into an open field, everyone surviving with minor injuries: aviation-safety.net/wikibase/187270

I was imagining that the loss of a propeller may be sustainable long enough for an emergency landing, if you were in the air, but no way would it be able to take off. Completely forgot to take into account the balance of the blades tearing the engine from it's mounting.

My favorite part of these is always Ben telling Pyrion he needs an incredibly unlikely series of rolls, and Pyrion does it almost every time. Then the opposite with Lewis where he needs to roll a 2 or something, and somehow fails.

I *absolutely* **love** the funky hero characters you guys do - The standard heroes like Indy, Dad's Army, and Luke Skywalker do genuinely ABSURD things, but the little heroes, like Sgt. Trauma, the Artillery Officers, and the Childcatcher General are just funny and heroic in their own ways!
The 25pdr is a howitzer though, or rather to be specific, a gun-howitzer.

In ben's defense, he got his info from the rules of Bolt Action, which differentiate the two, calling the next size up of artillery a "howitzer"

As a Indiana Jones fan i loved this scenario was so much fun
Pyrions good luck actually made this feel like a real Indiana jones movie scenario
The homebrew rules were awesome, would love to see more custom thematic scenarios too. Really nice seeing Games Night become a thing again
A cool scenario could be to set them up trying to capture a strange thing that fell from space, and when they go to take a look at it, it's full of like tyranids or something and they have to kinda work together to beat them. I wonder how much they'd have left at that point though
@NoFlu

And Idea for a 1v1vGM scenario I had one time, was an evacuation scenario, but the GM had a TigerII and a few infantry units. The Tiger 2, couldn't be destroyed, only knocked out for 1 turn. Could be done similar but Ben get's a Baneblade and 2 units of Space Marine (alternatively, some larger tyrranid unit and 2 unity of genestealers or sth), while the others get a regular Bolt Action WW2 army. Maybe they make it a city map like Stalingrad, where both Germans and Soviets want to abandon the city, otherwise maybe Soviet vs Finish troops who discovered an extraterrestrial strike force in the most norther provinces (bonus points for skiing rules for the latter....

This was so awesome great "gm" and admin work Ben, you did do some good book rules, and great job to the editor too it's really nicely done. this is probably the best war gaming series I've ever seen!
4:35 Our sweet boy Ben missed a trick by not calling it 'Der Schnelle Game'
This was incredible. The scenario fitted the films perfectly, it was beautifully balanced. I don't know how you manage it but these are amazing! I'm definitely not biased as an Indiana Jones Mega fan either...
The videos with Lewis and Pyrion have always been great but this one is extra special
Lewis makes ze best German. Thanks for the content!
Well akchually Ben, * pushes glasses* the 25pdr was a howitzer So in an effort to be right you are wrong
@darsol5651
Жыл бұрын
Glad someone else said it. For anyone wondering why, in modern nomenclature a howitzer is any artillery piece capable of both high angle and low angle fire. Field guns are low angle only (like AT guns and such) and mortars are high angle only. A 25 Pounder was primarily used as indirect artillery, but was capable of direct firing as needed.
I love this please do more, this is such a fun game to watch.
This was excellent, and I would absolutely love to see more like it!
The narrative campaigns are great! Keep it up!
This was incredible ! Honestly, top tier stuff. Congrats to all the team that worked on this video !
This one was amazing! I could actually see this being the final sequence in an Indiana Jones movie. Also Pyrion has such amazing luck lol XD
These are my favourite battle reports I’ve ever seen! Honestly Ben’s GMing and the fact that the games are made to be fun and cinematic instead of just standard games make them a thousand times better
Everyone's eagerness to make cinematic moments happen really make these videos fun. Looking forward to the next one! Shoutout to the editors for going the extra mile with those blood splatters on the walls of the terrain. Using Sgt Trauma's fate as an incentive for membership, though...you gents drive a hard bargain!
These videos are absolutely incredible. I love Ben as the GM, PFlax and Brindles are great together and the chemistry of the three lads is just brilliant. So happy games night is back
Pyrion's incredibly chill artillery spotters have to be my favorite characters the battle boys have ever come up with.
That was absolutely incredible. We need more just like this. I always love the Battle Reports but this one was special.
This is SO GOOD! Absolutely fantastic. Ben, you're an amazing GM for these! I really need to get membership. Soon! Honestly, there's so much good membership (or funded-by-members) content on the Yogscast network now. Hat Films' Vault Hunters series, the legally distinct Task Box episodes, these battle reports. You're killing it, guys! Been a fan since around 2010 and I couldn't be happier with all this new content.
I love the more narrative style you guys are doing. Keep it up!😊
Lovely video, amazing gm-ing by the shark, but let's just have a moment of silence for the numerous virgins Pyrion sacrificed to the dark lord to get those 6 rolls.
This scenario, the play, and the editing, was ace.
Love these. It'd be cool to see some short campaigns with connected storylines in this format, highlighting the emergent storytelling is one of the coolest parts of the format and you could really double down on it! Lots of grist for members content too
I love the energy of everyone in this. Lewis is loving the chaos, Pyrion is so classically British, Ben is just thriving
i am loving this series! it is an excellent return to the roots of all modern tabletop roleplaying: historical wargames, ESPECIALLY with ben acting as GM and having cool rule tweaks to make it more fantastical - its literally from where chainmail and then dungeons and dragons are directly descended so i am delighted :)
Pyrions commentary and roleplay was PHENOMENAL. Gave me a right good chuckle it did.
Great production quality, sublime special effects! Great storytelling with nice plot twists, top notch! You guys did an amazing job! Thank you so much for this entertaining video!
