Thanks for this! I have one of these laptops and I wanted to upgrade to an SSD hard drive. I see in this video you say there is space for an SSD inside but no connection on the motherboard, is it possible to solder a connection into the place where you said there should be one?? thnks

So. I have a A111 (basically the same but 11.6) There was a plug for hard drive. Needed to buy cable and cart for it tho. Weird because even the ram I had an empty slot

I doubt it's worth the hassle and probably bit advanced for regular user.

I have a couple a114-31-c0vy laptops and they have one ddr4 expansion slot and there is a spot where the m.2 connector goes but it is not soldered to the motherboard. I do not see anything in the bios for the m.2. So i am thinking all the other stuff needed for m.2 is not soldered on the motherboard either. But it looks so close to the models with the m.2 slot!

Hello I have an acer aspire 1 a115-32-c28p laptop that has 4gb of ram in it and I ordered an 8gb ram stick for it and i put the 8gb in it and turned the laptop on and the cpu fan started running high the screen stayed black so I downgraded the bios thought it was that and it wasn’t it only recognizes the 4gb stick and it doesn’t make sense can you tell me what may be the issue google doesn’t show me anything

how much this item costs to sell.

I have this laptop and have just been using it for running experiments and stuff. It has no resale value at this point so I'm just using it to learn tech stuff. Is it possible to solder the missing ssd connector? And could you remove the ram that soldered and replace it with better ram? I know it's not convenient, but is doing that type of thing possible?

Hmm, it almost looks like it would be possible to solder a connector on for. 2.5" drive. The solder pads are there. But there may be a bios restriction. Hmm

@@un_tizio_a_caso2701 I did a lot of poking around and ultimately didn't order anything because I wasn't sure which part it would be. It's likely possible as the bios does reference SATA storage. It's my GF's laptop and she didn't want me using a soldering iron on it for obvious reasons. I think I'll try again after we upgrade her to a new one.

100%, my girlfriend has this laptop and Acer only put 32GB, not 64GB like OP. That's not even enough for an update without having to move all the user and appdata folders. The worst part is you can CLEARLY see the pads for a SATA port, so Acer only saved less than a buck making this decision. Heck they may have even done it on purpose to make you pay more, since I don't even know if the bios supports booting from SATA

Yeah. The disc in my laptop is dead, and now it's a piece of plastic. I cant replace HDD.

Yeah but you can't adopt it for Windows/update storage so it doesn't fix the core issue. I redirected all the User paths to a flash drive but windows still doesn't have enough space to update.

@@ToxicNerd im saying this because i having this laptop and today this give me headache to reInstall windows because my usb was not showing in bios 😆😆 and then I realised this is not possible and restricted by bios so i install it manually

y es posible reemplazarle la ram en ves de agregarle?

You can't remove or add more ram! Whatever you have currently that's all you will ever have!

They reuse mobo designs, so they figure since they're including storage they can save the pennies to add a SATA connector, AND force people to pay more money for the better model with one.

Acer aspire 1 A114-33-XX be like you can upgrade mine to 16GB
