I once played with my mom on a halloween world on ps4 and only thing she liked about minecraft was destroying blocks (we were in creative mode), she didn't like tnt destroying, she liked manually destroying them just by clicking R2 (RT on Xbox or Left mouse button)

just learn a torch tower (thats just what i call the redstone torch thing) and then learn: (OR, XOR, Half-AND, and lastly: Full-AND) the basic computer circuits then after learning computer circuits you learn how to place them in minecraft and then connect them with quasi connectivity and normal connections, and then make a double piston extender on the bottom or top. And then you're done!

i remember trying to teach my parents or grandparents games. Sometimes I would play my grandparents in a game like Super Mario Party and they would forget which button advances the dialogue.

This PROVES you can learn anything if you try hard enough, no matter your age. A lot of people nope out of redstone, some just nope out of a lot of things because "too old", but you're never too old for anything! Also your mom is actually wonderful for sitting down with you and doing this. Huge props lol

Yes older people CAN learn new things but it causes a lot of pain because of the nature of neuroplasticity. Have you noticed that ur parents tend to remember much more than you when U were younger? That's due to neuroplasticity, older people (as long as they don't have althzheimers) have much better memory than younger people but learning is harder. The neuro paths in a brain solidify over time, become stronger, which means recalling memories is a lot easier than as a child ur brain is shaping over and over and U tend to 'forget' things alot easier due to ur brain being Play-Doh but you absorb information and learn new things very easily without much issue which is why older generations tend to find it hard to learn a new language and tend to keep their traditional accent and word phrasing, but the younger generation will sound native speaking.

This was so cute, my mum has watched me play and create castles and my dad gives me tips on replay mod so I really love it when content creators involve their parents

This video is so well made and I love the idea behind it as well, great job

I had a tuff time teaching the general controls on a controller to my mom, props to you for teaching all of redstone

One of my favorite games of all time, Gothic, also uses arrow keys as standard movement. It was quite common in the 90s (I'm a late 90s baby, but grew up with the older stuff) Also, even though most left-handed people use WASD and mouse as well (like myself), a few have trouble using the mouse with their right hand, so they resort to arrow-keys as well.

I do actually use arrow keys for minecraft and other games, but it is because I am left handed and like the mouse on the left (also I use the numberpad arrow keys not the tiny little ones under the shift key)

The music in the beggining of the video is called "clutterfunk" from geometry dash... one of my favorite games!

Why does the 2 block wide door setup at 8:57 work? It seems to me like the redstone at the top cannot reach those bottom pistons. So how/why are they still powered? I rebuild it in a creative world and changed the pistons to lamps. But with lamps only the ones at the top get powered. If it's some quasi connectivity stuff, it looks different from the quasi connectivity example because the redstone is further away for the piston door. (This type of stuff is why I stay away from redstone)

When Mojang made pistons, they borrowed code from doors; this is where quasi-connectivity comes from, because if you power the top of a door, you automatically power the bottom, so if you power the higher of a stacked pair of pistons, you automatically power the lower. It's not a one-to-one translation, though, as piston power transmission only goes one way (upper to lower), whiile doors go both ways. At 8:57, the redstone line powers the solid block beneath it, which soft-powers the upper piston, and residual door-code kicks in. Redstone lamps, not being adapted from doors, do not have this feature.
