Can I Shoot Netflix Quality on SONY FX30?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
There's a lot of talk about Sony Cinema Camera's being used for big budget Hollywood productions. I don't have Hollywood money so I tried to recreate some scenes from a Zac Snyder movie with affordable gear inc the Sony fX30 just for fun.

Where did you put the lights? I would love a breakdown
@Altcine
Жыл бұрын
Tbh the lights were only used in the head shot where he looked up and also final comparison shot. The shot where he looked up, I had a tube on the floor behind him which was set to cool white. Then another tube to his right which was set to amber (I should have diffused the amber light. On the shot with the money, I had the light on the floor behind him set to Teal. Then another on the the floor in front set to white. The flicker was added in Davinci Resolve using the flicker plug-in. The rest of the shots were just available lights. To make things as easy as possible I had to shoot in the right conditions that looked like the film. The gunshot scene need a place with the same type of buildings at the right distance. Shooting at midday harsh sun got me 75% of the way there because it's like the film. I've got a few review products to do but I'm I'm looking to do this again with something like Obi Wan. If I keep the video just on shooting technique then I can go more in-depth. I'll pin your comment and we'll see how many people would like to see something like this.
@Altcine

Ps, this will give you an idea on how I use available lights for low budget. If a client hires you for say.....a music video, you don't want to blow the whole thing on gear and location. It's best if you use what's around you to produce a high end result. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5WD0q5qpJfQpso.html
Ugh the Blackmagic 4k/6k groups... the ratio of internet "experts" and haters in that group is off the charts... your footage looks GREAT. That machine gun footage intercuts PERFECTLY. Cinematography in Zack Snyder films is always cool, like his films or not like you said.
@Altcine
Жыл бұрын
Yep those guys 😔 the social aspect in those groups is sub-human lol Thanks Joel 🙌🏾
Snyder is one of very few directors and cinematographers that know how to creatively use a camera and a music score to tell a story without words. Some viewers simply do not see it because they are so use to seeing the bare-basics in MCU films. I cant think of one MCU film where i said, "wow, that's a great camera shot with an epic music score to complement it". But, i can say "Oh look, CGI with humans in it". The music scores sound like presets in Garageband. Am i wrong lol?

Mate , you are soooo right! MCU is a bit of a joke nowadays. The way Snyder puts things together is amazing....really engaging. I watched Justice League Snyder cut and really enjoyed it...so much more than the cinema release. I just kept thinking how much work went into it and it had so much feeling. The part where superman died was so sad. Great comment bro

Bang! Straight in as soon as this dropped! Nice take on replicating a look - I think this is one of the most important things we can do (and push ourselves to do when we have spare time) - Find a way of recreating a look and see if we can match what the 'pros' do...and you did a damn good job!

@IMCE yes sir I will sir I just used it at one of my recording sessions for My documentary and everything you should me works great I bought the lens today had acting class than a recording session, I bought a insta 360 x3 and hero 11 to carry one and shoot and have the other hooked up to me to get footage in between until I recorded with the fx, just what I have learned from your videos has helped alot for me and I pray me walking again from being shot from my neck down being told i would never stand less alone walk, being proof that hope is never gone and God is the same God..Jesus never changes, I was insecure after being a musician and loosing my abilities and some physical features altered, your videos came after prayer and I would always get motivated to write songs again but still had a fear of being accepted in the wheelchair depending on others to record me or film me, sir your tips, your suggestions, what you use I emulated you and got a drive to not just do my music again, but step into a field new I never ever would think I could do, you are a great teacher, someone that is the very example of what a director is, what hard work get you and you remain humble and willing to share your journey with us all, I'm grateful for you sir, I don't no what your goal was or what u set to achieve, if you ever feel yourself wondering am I changing someone's life, am I leaving a impact, am I a great example of what director should be and does God approve, I no God wants lives saved, people to spread love and joy and to inspire.. you have definitely inspired me and greatful for all the work you have blessed us with on your channel, have a blessed day I'm sorry I just had to tell you how much you contribute to this community I have been lucky enough to experience because of content creators such as yourself sharing your journey.. that u inspired me to share mines sir

Man...this is so touching 😭 I'm so glad you've found new passions and no matter what our physically body is like, Jesus is happy with you and can transform anyone's life. Jesus didn't have and army, a mega church and according to the bible he wasn't even a good looking man (Isaiah 53:2) but he had the faith and fullness of God running through his whole body. It just shows that we don't need much...just belief and dedication and that can be applied to any part of our lives. I'm really touched to read your story and hope I could help on this somehow. It sounds like it could really change lives. Jesus bless you my brother...ALWAYS 🙏🏾

Hey mate, for closed sets, a fog machine would help a lot to create mist in the shot to soften up the image, they also use a lot of difusion filters to get a softer look. Overall the outside gun shot was right on the money, and the enterires just miss that bit of haze. But also, think you could have used a longer focal lenght than 50mm to get more background blur (think 50mm is around 75mm on the sony crop), that was the only thing missing in some shots, the FX30 makes it too sharp. The vintage lenses help a lot with that as well.
@sendykumalakanta1

Keep up the good work, love everything you put out!!!
@Altcine
Жыл бұрын
Hey bro, yeah they definitely used fog and more tactics in post. I was using a speedbooster so the 50mm wouldn't have been off by much but yes, you have valid points. I think considering we just shot around our local town with zero money spent on set design, locations etc it wasn't too bad 😅
Results quite similar at technical level. Only differences are mainly in coloring (shirts, background), then slot machine had different angle which you could had also made bit better(if not shooting solo), face scene light rource angles different, browsing cash scene is is only better lighted pro version. Generally good job.
@Altcine

Tbh there were way more inconsistencies than what you pointed out. There really would be no way to have it perfectly match unless a lot of things were done the same at the time of shooting but if you didn't have a side by side then a lot of these things wouldn't be noticed. I appreciate the comment so thank you. It was just a bit of fun for KZread 😁

Ahhh gotcha. That makes sense though and I can see the fx3 being very useful but the whole movie...I doubt it.
@captureinsidethesound
Жыл бұрын
@@damiendehorn6350 , I don't see why FX3 footage would have issues with any from of CGI/compositing considering +12-bit footage isn't really needed to get a passable blend. Especially, with the huge feats Unreal Engine 5 and Blender have made in the last 3 years. Expensive software(s) for CGI are still used only because its the "most familiar", not because its the best. Technically, you can render "Hollywood" level CGI scenes with UE5 and/or Blender, both in which are free with a massive library of high quality PBR assets from Quixel. That's not even mentioning that you can now use RenderMan for Free. Photo-realistic CGI no longer cost millions of dollars or a $10K computer connected to a server farm. But, they do require an individual or team to simply be patient and humbled themselves to learn professional grade software. Dont forget what Spielberg did with Jurassic Park and James did with Terminator 2 because even Blender in its infancy could have saved them a lot of time, money and headache if the software existed. The FX3 definitely has more range than those film cameras they used.
