😭 I was drawing a horse at my great grandfather’s house and he said “ are you drawing a sausage with legs? “ and I said “I’m drawing a horse!!” in a rather angry tone then he said “ nah it looks like a sausage with legs” Now I don’t draw anymore… and everyone always asks “why don’t you draw anymore..?” Hmm I wonder why 😐

I remember way back in middle school I loved drawing cats, and many of my peers knew this. Now, as this was middle school these cats weren't like, amazing, but I had fun. I remember for an English class we had to draw covers for a poetry book, so someone directed a girl to me so I could draw her a cat playing with yarn to put on her book. I happily drew it and went about my day. A couple classes later I found the drawing crumpled up and thrown on the floor. Oof

This didn’t actually happen, but I had a weird dream where I was at school and had some drawings with me and I dropped them, and when I got to class I saw some dude with them who traced over them and claimed they were his. I told them they were mine, but he ended up screaming at me and we started fighting in the middle of class. Glad it was just a dream…

Not gonna lie, this happened to me, at least 16 times. I've counted. When I was in 3rd grade, I was trying to sketch out a self portrait of myself, and, I hadn't finished the hair yet, and I was quite awful at drawing noses, so they KINDAA looked like a pig's nose. So, I had a few people in my class who liked to tease me, so they came to me, looked OVER MY SHOULDER (which is VERY uncomfortable) and said "Hey, nice pig!" which, I felt the need to correct them, so I did. I replied "Actually, it's a drawing of myself", so they started laughing and were saying stuff like "Noo, reallyy??", which hurt me. This was the time I hated most when this happened. Also, note to artists: If anybody says something awful about your art, don't listen to them! Even though I haven't seen your art, lol, I would still think it's amazing, no matter what! Also, if, for say, a friend points something they find a teeny bit off about your art, don't be mad at that. My sibling is a professional artist (not trying to brag, but this is the time I have to say it) and and they say that (almost, I guess) every artist can be open to criticism. Like, where did they go wrong? How can they improve? What parts were good and what weren't? I found that really helpful having my friends point out small things, because, my most recent sketch from that turned out a LOT better, thanks to fixing those small details! If you don't get what I'm saying, lol, if anybody as anything awful to say about your art, ignore them. But, if a friend points out a small detail, be open to that! Trust me, having friends like that actually help (In my opinion. WOWW I JUST ANTICIPATED A COUNTER ARGUMENT 😮😮✨✨)! See ya bro, have a fantastic day/night/afternoon, whatever your time is idrc 🤪

I remember in one of my art classes I made a Mantis human hybrid girl. She was a girl with Mantis arms, which I thought was pretty cool. Some girl came up to me and made fun of it saying that she should get plastic surgery and that she looked stupid. Needless to say, I hated going to my art class after that (Which used to be a safe space for me, but everyone ruined it for me)

once something similar happened to me in primary, except, it was for a competition and i wanted complete control of the design/drawing aspect, i was horrible to my team and didn't even finish (obviously). when it came time for the showcase an adult came up to me and said "thats a really nice ____" when it, in fact, was nowhere near that. as the artsy girl i felt like i could do everything so that pressure ended up making me uncontrollably sob in front of everyone. Even worse (to me) out of pity the teacher made me win, and i felt HORRIBLE. They tried to help but it ended up making everyone hate me including myself. In the end, it was my fault, and a learning experience but it took me so many years to be able to work in a group again out of my own choice. this doesn't compare to indirectly being called a horse though, and i hope you gain your confidence back someday!

true, here's a story.. back in like 5th class I used to (and still) really liked drawing, but then 1 day, the kids on my table asked "hey _____ show us your drawinggg" when I showed it to them they all made jokes about it and laughed.Ever since that day I was insecure about ll my drawing and had huge anxiety attacks when people forced me to show them, these days when I rarely show my pictures people say that its good, but im still scared, i remember 3 people who laughed and made fun of my drawing in 4th grade...that day will be remembered

I remember when my teacher and the substitute asked the whole class to make an origami and decorate/color it. I did a frog-themed one. So when the teacher collected the origamis she said "Oh [My Name] what a cute snake" and then I said "Sorry but actually it's a frog". She was shocked.

The fact that the eyes were showing hearts and when she cried it showed broken hearts is just too sad

I remember one time I had a substitute teacher in 6th class (“grade” idk what y’all call it) and I was sketching at the back of my copy but it was really bad so the teacher knew I wasn’t paying attention and decided to show the drawing to the entire class. Some were even laughing which wasn’t a big surprise. So throughout my teenage years I stopped drawing and I didn’t sketch as much in case the same thing was going to happen 🥲🥊

That honestly never happened to me...cuz I didn't draw much when I was younger- I would most likely watch KZread more than draw but now I draw more often and I'm really happy that I watch toturials and then my drawings turns out pretty! The moral of this video is to not give up no matter what u face be strong be confident in every different ways!

Sooo relatable T-T, though another sad thing about being the artsy girl is that, most people only come to hang out with you *just* to see you’re drawings and then leave wanting nothing else to do with you -_-💢

Damn i had the same experience too, it was in my break time at school and i decided to draw. 15 minutes later a boy showed up infront of me and yelled out "BRO THAT SHEET IS COOL!", i was literally repeating "wtf" in my mind. I went through this as a child. But only ever with my parents (but they would playfully ask what I was drawing) Anybody else would usually ask what I was drawing.

whenever I'm drawing someone just comes up to me and is like: "can you draw me please?" And I swear my anxiety just increases whenever they are looking at me drawing them, this is so true smh-

this is why my mom don't know what kind of music i listen to because she and my sis bash whatever i do including anime saying that its messing with my head and i'm going to cut my hair really short, dye it and then become lesbian- i am straight.

"Can I see you're drawing? Ooooo can you draw me next!!! *takes sketchbook our of hands*" Exactly what you shouldn't do. If an artist wants to show you their work, they will. Don't rip it put of their hands, it makes them uncomfortable. Don't ask to be drawn as well, cause like, we don't want to draw you. You can pay us to do a commission, but we aren't going to draw you for free. A lot of time and effort goes into a drawing. If the person says yes to drawing you, just take the drawing as well. Don't critique it, but don't over exaggerate the drawing as well. Critiquing it is only a way to undermine the artists work, unless it is done in a constructive manner and they are looking for criticism. Over exaggerating the art only points out, in their minds, the "obvious" flaws they can see in their art. It really just makes them feel worse in the long run. A simple thank you for the art, and maybe recognizing the amount of effort that goes into a piece of art will suffice. Thank you for reading this rant I'm just really passionate about art-

This is why I will always just compliment the drawing by saying it's beautiful, and then ask what the drawing is about. This will give the kid all freedom to talk and express what the drawing means to them.

The exact same thing happened to me when i was little, i was drawing myself and the teacher thought i was drawing a dinosaur lol, it was a bit embarrassing and sad, but now that I'm older i remember it and laugh at it lol

One of the many reasons I'm glad that people at my school don't give a crap as to what you're doing as long as it's not hurting anyone- :P

Even though I'm not an artist myself, I know my limits unlike other people, who literally ask, "can you draw me??" When they probably don't have the time to, since they didn't expect that. Like dude, just compliment them in their work, overdoing it is just gonna make them uncomfortable :/

Then when they're curious about your art they get mad when you don't let them see it. Would YOU let someone look at your diary just because they asked to? No. That's how precious a sketchbook is to some people-- including me. So keep your hands off my art stuff! For some of you, the first one is probably a compliment, but is it truly a compliment when they think you didn't work hard to get to that level of artistic skills? "You're so talented"? It's not my fault you want to be able to draw but don't want to put the effort in or think that I'm good enough to draw you even though I'm not. My art looked like shit too when I was 6, the only reason why I'm better than you know is because I draw and think about art more than you, that's it. This might not relate to you guys, nor does it match with the video, but I have like 2 friends who I'm not even that close to and that's it, so I just wanted to vent a little cuz these are things that have happened to me before. This is literally me. My friends once saw me draw ship art and went "Is ThaT yOuR cRuSh???" Me not wanting to repeat that ever happening again, I would literally be too protective over my stuff and usually draw my drawing notebooks with me and never let it leave my sight. Not to mention another time when my teacher showed my 2nd grade classmates my little doodles and even said they look mucked up.

That happened to me, and I drew quite a good self-portrait when I was like 4 or 5 (like good) and I showed my dad, and the nose wasn't in the centre and he commented on that , like " errrrm.... what's wrong with the nose"

I had something similar. In my last school(i was tgere3 yrs, i was 9 back then) i was an artist(still i am an artist) but i mostly drew characters from horror films and etc. My classmates would force me to show them my art, and then thay started to complain about having nightmares plus they were calling me a psychopath and a maniac. One kid was spreading rumores about me that i will become a killer when i gonna grow up, holly shit

Most of the time people confuse the animals I draw for other animals, I draw a cat and people call it a weasel, or lemur.

I cried when someone thought my art was something else than what I was intentionally trying to draw. Can relate a lot

This is really relatable

Quick story. This reminds me of a time when I was younger, about 8. I was practicing drawing and I was getting better at it! One day, I was sitting at recess with my friends who could draw anime really well. We were talking and 3 girls came along, one also being a friend. They complimented everyone's drawings, except mine. They looked at mine with a disgusted face and walked away. I don't draw anymore- not just because of that though, that would be kind of stupid.

Fun fact: don’t EVER assume what a small child is drawing. If they’re a teen/ a bit higher on the age scale it’ll be a bit more obvious what they’re drawing. A lot of small Children don’t have super talented skill and if a kid is drawing just say you like it, it’s amazing and go on with your day.

This reminds me of one day in the 5th grade. I was done with my lunch and I was hunched over my sketchbook, trying to draw something when one of the teachers came and asked to see the drawing. I repeatedly told him no but he pressured me into showing it to him, which was really embarrassing because I only started drawing as a hobby recently. It was really scary because all the other 5th graders were looking at me, and my friends were too nervous to say anything (we were the shy kids). And I was so close to forgetting about that day too...

warning//vent This reminds me of when I was a lot younger, I was drawing myself. My mom asked me what I was drawing. and when i showed her she said, and I quote "very nice! It's cool that you're drawing more fat people now." By the way, nothing is wrong with being plus sized. However my mom would constantly call herself gross and fat, so I thought fat = gross at the time.

this is why whenever I see a drawing, no matter how old they are or how obviously the drawing shows what it is, I never say what I think it is. I instead say stuff like "this is amazing!" and not like "that's an amazing horse!".

That's why ask kids what they drew before assuming it 😭✨

"Is that your art style..?" "Can you draw me a picture and give it to me?" "Can I color that?" "Can you color that drawing?" "Why are you drawing?" "Why do you draw like that?" These questions might not have been asked to you but trust me, they are the most common asked questions an artist can get.

the colouring one. hh ive been asked that one. by a 4yr old. i couldnt say no, she was 4. also im socially awkward i wouldnt of been able to say no anyways. most drawings, i wanna keep black and white, but some people wanna colour them in and i really dont want them to, because i dont like some drawings being more than black and white, i like to decide what my drawings look like. also can i just say, i draw my ocs or other's ocs or characters from books and the people who ask have no idea, and they colour them random colours which i hate.
