Derbyshire is pronounced ‘Darbyshire’, Hertfordshire is pronounced ‘Hartfordshire’ and Berkshire is pronounced ‘Barkshire’. I don’t know why but we don’t like pronouncing E’s correctly

Nice video! It would be great if you would run some Seterra map and flag quizzes too in one of your videos! Seterra has a England counties quiz as well, and every quiz runs in nine different game modes!

I'm from New England (us) and a lot of the counties ending in "shire" are names of counties around where I live but with out the "shire" So I've been to Gloucester for example and Essex county. Idk why but that's a fun fact I guess

Theres also the east Midlands, eg the airport there is called east Midlands airport... it's in Leicestershire and its kinda just like the east of the west Midlands lol But everyone just says the Midlands not east or west

Love the video Jack! The only reason I remember any counties is because I do history at college, and in the Tudor era they often appointed people to watch over counties, like the Earl of Northumberland and the Duke of Suffolk etc. :D

Fun fact Jack! Birmingham used to be the cleanest city in England during the late 19th Century and early 20th century. Due to Neville Chamberlain’s dad (Neville is the only brummie PM) had followed what the government made as option law. Also from personal experience living there. It isn’t clean anymore.

now this is one part of geography that jack, is teaching me!

Interesting video this one. I'm from the south (born in Buckinghamshire, lived in Suffolk most of my life and now in Essex), and have travelled the south most recently and by myself, so was shouting all the south counties at Jack ("I don't know what this big area is" was just like I know all of them instantly!), but then didn't know the ones up north that Jack could just reel off. Went and did the quiz after the video and got 100% on my first try, definitely learnt something!

I'm from Staffordshire! I knew most of the Midlands and North and *some* of the south. but I've never been further south than Birmingham so that's probably why :)

glad to see lincolnshire actually getting mentioned

Historically it was, but since 1974 it became a separate county with its own lord lieutenant and hight sheriff. It's had a separate council since 1890. It shares its police with Hampshire but has its own ambulance service.
