Can I make a 22Lbs Pinch pot? 10 kilograms of clay! Tutorial. Huge pinch pot!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I make my biggest Pinch pot so far, 10 kilograms!
I use stoneware clay and just water and my hands. A turntable makes it easier, but 10 kilos is quite an amount of clay!
A tutorial where I work and speak at the same time.
I hope you get inspired and try yourself!
If you have any questions or comments, please drop me a line!
Cheers from Finland!
Mika

Aaw! Thank you Michele! I will post a second video on how it turns out. Glazing and ornaments etc, but it will take some time, i better dry this beast slowly! Cheers and thank you for your kind words! Mika

@@clayeasy Reallll slooooow for sure How thick do you think it is? Also if I may ask, did you have to refine the areas below the rim that had lines in it? I’m such a perfectionist and I didn’t know if you needed to do this or if it was just bugging me because of me. Lol.

@@micheledickey4066 hey there! I think the wall is about 1- 2 cm thick. I left the pot at the studio where I sometimes work and I’ll probably go back there for a while in the morning. I will let the clay set and harden a bit. The dents and lines that you mentioned are on my mind, I am going to smoothen them out as much as I can. I was thinking about making the same pattern on this pot as I made on my hinged pots lid, that I made in my last video. The pattern will fool ones eye ( not maybe a perfectionists :) .. but the dents and flaws will not show that much. Cheers from a ( still) cold, snowy Finland!

@@clayeasy Great idea!! I don’t mind the marks at all. I was hustling wondering if they would make the areas weak. I absolutely LOVE the hinged pot!!

This is awesome! Even bigger than your last giant pinch pot ☺️ it reminds me of a giant dino egg, or even a globe lol! I'd leave the rim rough. It adds a 'natural' aspect. For some reason I keep seeing bamboo in it, in my mind. Great tutorial, as usual 💜 cheers from a windy Texas 💜

Hi there and Thank you! Great to hear from you again! Yes, I took a chance with this one, it actually felt a little bit too big to start with. I will leave the rim rough, but probably add some patterns on the surface. We got more snow yesterday, seems like this winter never ends.. Cheers! Mika
