@@wellaname221 yes because milk contains a fat called caesin and this binds to capsaicin which is the thing that makes chillies spicy and therefore prevents it from binding to the pain receptors on the tongue so after chillies having milk ice cream or yoghurt really helps. Water however is said to make the pain worse so just don't have water in massive amounts.

I smelled a tree once and got wrecked

I find this clip VERY funny. My favourite moment though from the shows is when he's standing on the sink with his back to the camera, and there's water pouring from the broken tap. That's comic genius to me.

This happens in other families too, i remember mexican families where the father and new son-in-law eat them to prove who's the tougher one, by the way, water doesn't cool off the hot chili effects, it's milk, yogurt or honeyed bread that does the trick.

Mad that's how Pakistanis eat we have chillies in the curry on the table as well

Must be so hard to write a family comedy. The first series is always the most difficult to get the audience to feel anything for the characters. I hope the BBC allows this to develop and hopefully the writing can get a bit more daring.

I want to see the full episode 4. I am not in UK so cant watch on bbc....any recommendations ?

I can't exactly say that this is the greatest comedy of all time, but it seems a bit pointless to me to be commenting / watching something that you don't feel fits your taste. there will be plenty of people who will find it funny. and anyway, it isn't like you will like or dislike everything that the tv channels show. just i don't see the point comparing different eras and shows. each are funny in their own way
