Put slicks on the wheels that are on it for your track days, standard wheels for shows in my opinion pal

Original wheels are better in my opinion. A great project for you there hopefully. Looks like a rare particular model
What a great car, loads of potential. It’s worthy of a full restoration. That red would pop with a fresh coat. As a detailing addict, I can’t wait to see the interior scrubbed up! Keep the episodes coming.
Brilliant episode, nice solid car, shows the value of jdm imports that havent been dragged through countless UK winters on salt laden roads. This car will be a cracker
really nice tidy car. it deserves more loving for sure. I bet it was one heck of a cool car back in the day. gotta be worth money now or getting more desirable as a classic
My favourite episode so far... mostly as the second car I ever bought was practically the same. A Japanese import MR2 SW20, G-Limited, but in black, no targa roof and with a manual box. It was my first sports model, and I loved it... until on one sad journey it ate ALL of its oil and the engine big end failed. So off to the great race track in the sky it went... Gone, but not forgotten!
As a previous owner of a mark 2 MR2 I enjoyed this video 🙂. You are ver lucky with the lack of rust, they rust for fun. Also mine used to eat alternators as the water would drop into it from the deck.
Well, you say they rust, but really they’re not bad. In the 1970s, when Toyota first appeared on the UK/Irish scene, the new Corollas were leaving flakes of rust on the showroom floors. But the Japanese are not stupid. They listened and took on board the only real problem we had with their super luxuriously appointed budget cars. Within a few years, they got to grips with moisture traps and even did a bit of corrosion protection and, it quickly became rare to see a Japanese colander on the roads. Even the scrapyards were populated by mechanical/electrical failures, due to maintenance issues, rather than dissolving in the rain. I’m hopeful for the floor of my freebie Yaris, despite being full of water and alien life forms, since January!
Regarding the windscreen. Make sure when you order the replacement it is bronze colour. Imports are bronze, so if you fit the UK green glass it will look wrong. Also make sure a correct trim is used. A lot of people fit a universal trim which looks wrong. Shame I'm not closer I'd live to come over and fit a screen for you. Dust off the tools as it's been a fair few years since I was in the trade now.
Hi i am from Ireland and i live on a beef farm and i like your KZread videos 🇮🇪🐂🇮🇪🚜
The car is in fantastic condition, it really deserves some time spent on it to give it a new lease on life, go on, you know you want to.
Not gonna lie ... that sushi overlay was hilarious. Great project car !

I had fun with that 😅🤣
Loving the content! Every episode just seems to get better. The Panhard series was my fave but looks like it may be replaced by this stonking MR2. A car that decent just deserves to be reborn. Looking forward to how it turns out. Keep it up Ben 👌

Thanks mate!
Great episode Ben, that’s got to be a keeper when finished. Looking forward to the next instalment.
It just goes to show how good a scruffy looking car can be under the surface . Managed to watch the entire episode at work tonight 😂. Im looking forward to the next one .
Legend mate, another top video, brings back memories of my MR2 turbo MK2 I had a lot of years ago. Keep up the good work 👍
This is my favorite Chanel now. I love this guy.I am certified mechanic and I love how he just gets stuck in and eventually sorts it.A refreshing change from the soft woke and week young apprentices of today, but why the helldo Poms carry a mug of tea who the hell does that?😊
red with a blue interior, my spidey senses are tingling like church bells 😂
That’s seriously tidy underneath you’ve done well sir can’t wait for the next MR2 revival 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The older I get, the more interested in am in cars I didn't find interesting when they were released. I think the joy of driving has overcome me Vs the desire for power and status! Amazing channel Ben, the only to make me LOL.
I'm so happy to see this come back to life hopefully painted the whole lot and you keep and drive it so awesome
bit of JDM with tonights dinner , Get in 💪
As soon as I saw zero rust around the outer rear arch I knew it was a solid car. Owned and worked on a fair few of these
Great score on this little baby, good job getting her running, another great vid. Tks
What a great car, loads of potential. It’s worthy of a full restoration. That red would pop with a fresh coat
I’m impressed it finally ran with only 3 cylinders tops . A good electrical service should have it running on 4 again. Plugs, leads, dizzy cap clean up- No nasty mechanical sounds which is a bonus.
100%guessed mr2 when I seen photo earlier!! Ben u the man 🎉
This is the best end of life car ever, superb condition both bodily and underneath is fantastic. Love all your videos, great project car cannot wait for next episode
Brilliant as always Ben, another classic saved. Would love to see you rag this one around the track.
Just loosen the bolts for the water pipes and the tank will drop though , sensor is connected to the engine temp lid sensor , good luck on the build
Wow what a beauty of a classic JDM MR2 well done can't wait for the next video on this beauty
The dandism is real! Love to see this beauty fully restored and getting a second lease on life!
Great car, great video Love the long format, my favourite channel on you KZread... Thanks for the content mate 👍
Looks like a rev 1 or 2, fantastic project. We have a 1996 rev 3 and they are superb cars, they can be a real pain if not set up properly - especially the cooling system. Look forward to seeing more.
Great find Ben! You deserve a solid motor after the Pan handle! I remember my mate had red MR2 exactly the same in the late 90s. Went with him one year from Peterborough to a MAX Power live show in Birmingham around 1999. Great fun!
Nice job keep up the great work 👍
Lovely wee car,,i like the black wheels thats on it,,shame there is no centre caps on them,,but what a brilliant find,,could this one be a keeper,,look forward to the next episode on it,,
Really looking forward to the restoration of this car👍 very cool back in the day being fairly rot free huge bonus love your video content so much humour 🤣
My late dad had one of these back in the day, reg was extremely similar to yours J735 HTY. Was a lovely black UK example in around 2000. I was around 13 at the time and remember the immense sound of the K and N filter it had on. Always had a soft spot for them.
I loved washing my cars back in the day❤
Love it, have always dreamt of owning one of these. Looking forward to part 2.
Great stuff Ben, thanks for sharing.
What an awesome find! That is in amazing condition for an mr2. Well worth making it a mint car as your going to get your money back. I've been watching them for the last year and they are booming in value. maybe some snails for the extra fun?? Awesome content always on your channel.
What a great find Ben, really spurs you on when it's this good. Looking forward to the next installment. Brilliant videos as always thanks
Brilliant car. I had a turbo mr2 it tried killing me every time I took it out. It went sideways a lot lol😂😂😂
IMO this was the best looking MR2 made. I will admit I was blown away buy the electric folding mirrors. I didn't know that was a thing back then! As Others have stated this care deserves a full Resto!
Fantastic. Classic motor and props to you for putting so much into this channel, I've learned loads and I want to start tinkering myself 😅
Finally an MR2 😜😍😍 this has to be your next nurburgring car great video as always 👌👌
I worked for Toyota when this car was new in the uk - great car and hope all goes well with it!
Love your channel, you’er doing an amazing job of it , really entertaining and fun to watch thank you & keep up the great work 👍🏼
As a previous owner two things to do right away ... look at the seals on the roof panels! They will always end up leaking at some point! The water in your car is likely from them. Lots of online forum chats about this issue and suggestions. The odd cheap fix like using the shrouding of mains electrical cable by working it into a fold of the existing rubber to help bolster it out nearer its original shape (something like that anyway, its been a few years since i drove one). Also the alternators! Always these cars drip rain through the engine cover directly on to the alternator. Its a very awkward and irritating job thats better only done once! Solutions include aftermarket drip trays etc, really wise to do this little mod! All in all it looks amazingly good underneath. I'm all for standard cars generally so hope you got those original wheels refurbed to OEM. If the cost isnt prohibitive i'd consider a good paint job and doing all the bushes as well / tidying up the exhaust / subframes etc. These are going for pretty strong money and (as a keeper) probably a nice little investment. Not so many left and they are a true motoring icon. Unmessed examples might well be worth spectacular money in years to come. Great vid, great content, worthy of loads more views. Get sharing on the JDM forums and facebook channels. ... this has the potential for millions of views. Cars like this are what launched Matt Armstrong and Tavarish. Loved & cool modern classics. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Cable in the seal is a genius trick I'm going to have to try that! Thanks for the kind words mate it's a great car and I hope it does well on the channel as well probably all be seeing a lot more of it 😅
You had me at MR2. Love these cars and have owned a few, really need another. Can't wait for the next video.
Hi I really look forward to your video I would love to see a restoration done on the mr2 there aren’t many left
Great project looking forward to the next video 👍
I used to have one of those MR2 20 years ago. They're great fun but twitchy af on the rear end. Mine was red and the paint faded like that too.
Looking forward to seeing this series now. When I was a kid I used to see 1 going about town and since then I’ve always wanted 1. A few times I’ve had the opportunity but be it finances, storage or having a family, it’s just never been the right time. 1 day I will own 1 but until then I’ll just admire them from a distance 😂😂
Never saw a g-limited edition. I own a 1990 mr2 sw20. I was amazed by your electric folding mirrors, never seen that on a MR2. Deserves a full restoration. Succes!
Great car, and given it’s the UK, I can get over the lack of rust! I reckon it’s definitely worth a proper restoration, and as such - refinishing the factory wheels would be worth it. PS. Did the Patreon thing. Big fan of channels like yours, Pollitts Projects, Backshed.

Thanks mate it's really appreciated, I'm astounded by the lack of rust in the car aswell it's a bit of a dream, I'm enjoying getting episode 2 filmed!
This was epic! I enjoyed watching how mint the underside of her was 👌🏻
All things considered tge MR2 is in fantastic condition. It deserves full restoration. However I fined the OEM/stock wheels boring, but some people like everything completely factory.
Great video Ben. Only today myself and my wife went to Beeston Castle, found out that we were only around 8 miles from your lock up.
Now that’s a corker of a car!! Another fabulous episode Ben…..I also like the black wheels! Roll on the next episode.
I had this exact car (rev 1 G-limited) in black in my early 20s & absolutely loved it!...I have a video of clocking the speedo on the M1 from London back to MK early one Monday morning, obviously this was before the overhead speed cameras😂😂😂...much respect from zimbabwe 🇿🇼
Sarah-n-tuned did her own MR2 rebuild, good watch just to see what it can really be.

Wicked choice of car mate. Loved these growing up
well done getting it running mate!
Great episode, yet again. Full resto? I think so! Good luck and looking forward to following the whole story.
New subscriber from NZ. Found this channel by scrolling. Love the MR2. She's a beauty! Awesome content.
Wow what a car. Love the old mr2. Would love to see a proper series on this , maybe full resto? Just one negative thing. Was watching with headphones that high pitch beep was ear destroying. Trust me that’s a small point. Absolutely loved the vid. Just recently been told about your channel and love the content.
A clay bar and 2 stage machine polish and a wax would bring back 80 percent of that paintwork back even some of the more heavy bleached areas . That would probably do and it would look very respectable .. but seeing how clean it is .. I think a respray with its original colour would do it justice 👌
Plenty of potential. No smoke at all on start up .... mint loose the black rims.
Absolute comedy gold! Loved every minute, what an entertaining guy.
I'm not mechanically minded but have always been interested in cars.. this has to be one of the most interesting ones, so far. We'll worth a second chance, It has the potential to be a proper tasty classic.
Rear calipers known for seizing up on these. The random plug goes onto the engine cover temp sensor that activates the side intake fan. If unplugged the fan will run constantly. Great project and fab content 👌

Edge of my seat, watching the carpet reveal. The only Toyota I’ve ever actually owned, myself, is doing a similar garden pond impression and I will have the same smelly exploration to do, whenever I’m fit enough.
Content is class love every car always interesting MK2 deserves the love
Just found the channel and really enjoyed this video . Looking forward to seeing more mate
Go all the way on this one Ben, nice wheels :)
Great video and I am looking forward to seeing the restoration get all the carpets and seats out power wash them and leave them to dry but mist of all clear the water from the car

I will do my best 💪
I can relate to your excitement over the mr2 firing up and running. I was the same way when I got my 86 z28 camaro to run for the first time.
Love the Chanel, keep up the good work. Il be buying a snap back as soon as pos!
Japanese sports cars and cable ties go together like British sports cars flat caps. My 200sx and Subaru's had many many tempermanent cable tie fixes.
Nice project - well worth sorting due to the underneath. Get it undersealed ASAP as it won't stay like that for long. I like the patina - It's LDV post office/Corsa MK1 style - Would like to see what a bit of farecla would do before you give it a blow over. Alloys are ok but nothing special, and you don't have the HFH (hose from hell) as it's non turbo. Looking forward to the next installment, and I have patreonised you.
Love to see the work on this MR2!
What a great lil car project!!!!! You guys are so lucky over there ... JDM has the steering wheel on the correct side for you chaps!!!! ;)
I feel the Dandism! lol.. Really awesome revival. I love your outlook on approaching big projects. Keep up the great work!
Great video and having owned 4 mk2 MR2s i can tell you have a gem there, super clean underneath. I just replaced my NSR caliper and was pretty hard to get. Look forward to next installment. Ps defo put on the oe wheels. TOYO still do a full set of staggered tyres for the car.
Always loved the look of these and used to se them everywhere. I can't remember the last time I seen one in the wild
Great car ! and great video too ! ...Oh you're so jammy finding all those cable ties !... I'm always undoing those with a needle in order to save and reuse them ! lol
Love the MR2 video and would like to see more. Thanks
Great stuff as usual!
Still loving it. Binging all the episodes
Lovely motor I hope it passes an MOT it would be nice to see it on the road
I just wanted to say I enjoy your videos - looking forward to seeing more on this one, I always fancied a Mister 2.
Bit of a unicorn you picked up here, just the mats alone are amazing. Full restore would be great but whatever you decide you have new follower 👍👍
Great car Ben. Automatic no problemo. Kinda car I'd have if I'd have the chance. Be good to see it road worthy, looking forward to the project MR2
Love this channel great content every episode 😊
