Urban Champion IS my favorite NES game , but probably not for the reason that you think . My best friend wasn't a gamer but he bought me a game for my birthday back in the 80's . It was Urban Champ . My best friend of 38 years died in a tragic car accident back in August . So glad that I still have that game . It is my favorite in my collection .

Blue marlin was one of my rental favs. Loved following school's of fish and seeing ths marlin shadow pop up. Anticipation waiting to see your catch. Fighting a strong marlin and the line gauge constantly pinging would test your nerves. You had to pay attention to the hook set, line, stamina man such an amazing nes game do many good memories

Hey John, I’m the guy who gave you those games. The “green stuff” was made by the guy on that business card. He’s one of my good friends. He sells it at his game store. I used it on both Blue Marlin and BTTF, but was not able to get either of them to work. That’s why those two games were so clean. Every other game I’ve used it on in my collection has worked. The other 3 games were given to me by another friend that owns a game store that said they did not work. I didn’t even I didn’t even bother trying those ones. Funny that you didn’t need to do anything to them to get them to work lol. You can also use more of that “green stuff” when cleaning. I unscrew the cap and dip the q-tip inside personally, then I clean it off the pins with isopropyl alcohol. If you have any questions about it don’t be afraid to reach out to.

It looks like one of the pins isn’t making contact somewhere in the wrestling game… whether it’s due to the wiring between that pin and the chip on the cart, or something wrong with the chip itself, IDK. But doing a contact trace is probably your best bet on that one, and that doesn’t take an EE degree to do.

I spent three hours of labor making two NES games I bought on ebay work. I'm pretty new to this level of effort, most Sega Genesis carts just needed a swab or two of the pins. Not literal (multiple) alcohol baths and deep scrubbing.

Next time add flux when you touch up solder.. if you’re just touching the solder to the iron, the solder will become brittle and prone to cracked joints.

For the games that did work, perhaps try them on an original toaster model NES. As I recall, the cost reduced NES top loader did not have the NES10 security chip, and so if there's a failed NES10, or more likely a borked pin to the security chip, then the games may actually not be working on an original NES model. Would be worth a try. My guess on the broken carts are either broken traces on the cart PCB, or possibly just a killed ROM chip.
