My favorite redesign is Scovillain, I really love the fact that the heads actually have different personalities now, and the little skull.

I would really like if Flamigo and squawkabilly were counter parts...Flamigo being a fairy fighting and squawkabilly would be dark fighting or dark steel could be cool

Scovillian is my favorite pokemon from Paldea so I was scared to see what you'd do for its redesign. However, I can firmly say it did not disappoint and I'm impressed that you came up with a really unique new concept that I haven't seen done before, Froopy does it again! 🔥

I’ve seen so many fan designs where they evolve Scovillain by giving it a third head and I always think that ruins the masks duality theme but your take is awesome

My one nitpick with scovillain is that I'd personally go for a more yellow colour, Even if orange probably looks better. I just like the comtrast in expression being just as extreme as the contrast in colours

I wish that Gimmighoul's evolution was comepletely different. I wish that it had become one with the chest and coins - becoming a full-blown mimic inspired Pokemon. It could still have arms made of coins to help it move around, and it would be a very defensive/tanky -mon. Gholdengo just looks too much like a string-cheese mascot covered in gold foil.

Crushed it with baxcalibur, that thing would go straight into my party if it was the true design - and I usually hate the over complicated looks of pseudos! Nice work 👌

I think the biggest issue with Spidops was simply that it came off of Tarountula. If it as on its own, a garrat wire wielding ogre spider is a great concept, not so much since it evolves from a yarn ball with legs. I think you really fixed it with going back to focusing on the thread crafting motif. For the capsakid line, I feel like you fixed a lot with Scovillian's proportions, but I think it would have done better with a distinct torso rather than just loosely coiled vines. It makes it feel like a bit too fragile, like it could unravel easily. The petal ruffles were a good call though

The redesigns are great, but I think one reason some of the designs were kind of lackluster is because they are Pokemon that need to move around the overworld. The designs you made are great, but I noticed that a lot of them really don’t have the ability to move (like Spidops, or Spoolder as I’d like to call it), and others look incredible moreso because of the pose, like Scovillain (which is still an insane design, but with the crossed legs, it’s hard to imagine how great it would look running around Paldea), same with Flamigo, who looks great here, but I don’t think it could just hop around on one wing the whole game, lol

I actually gave this some thought during the design process but just didn't talk about it in the video. Spidops/Spoolder, would just hop off its butt and run on all its legs when in motion. Scovillian would walk normally, with the point where the vines cross serving as the hip point. And flamigo would walk normally, it only does silly flips and what not in battle. It definitely wouldn't be on one wing the whole time.

I sort of have to disagree. I feel like In soul silver the overworld sprites we’re basic, which could still be the same for ScarVio in the sense that it’s just them walking about. The personality of a pokemon tends to come out in battle and currently their 3d sprites are lackluster in regards to fighting. If they gave Pokémon better fighting animations I feel like it would make up for it.

I disagree that these pokemon redesigns don’t look like they can move. It’s just the posing that might make you think they’re stiff and immobile. But it’s easy to imagine how these pokemon could still theoretically move around outside of the pose.

When I first saw capsakid by accident before I played the game, I thought it was a little green bird with an eggshell on its head, it didn’t even register as a pepper to me at first. I can’t help but think about if they leaned into the bird look and made Scovillain a cool two headed pepper bird!

Awesome as always, Flamigo is one of my favorite new mons from gen 9 because I love the simplicity of the design, but I do agree that it makes no sense to the fighting type, the way you literally just tweaked the design a little and justified the fighting type was perfectly executed, also, I'm a Brazilian myself so I was very pleased by the reference to capoeira hehehe

And once again, a redesign misses that Spidops is also a spec ops agent

The flaws you pointed out with Espathra and Baxcalibur are on the dot mine as well! I love the new concepts you went with for Baxcalibur, my only feedback would be a little more pattern and armor to break it up. It looks fairly small with how scrunched the pose is, and the massive blob of navy doesn't do that any favors. Maybe adding an alternating color scale pattern on the tail as well as some extra "armor" on the shoulders would fill in some gaps.

Not a huge fan of the Capsakid and Scorvillain changes (except for the orange head on Scorvillain, that's 10/10) but the other 3 definitely had some interesting ideas that I like a lot more compared to the originals, especially Baxcalibur keeping the hunch pose instead of becoming cold Tyranitar, really cool commentary as well, great video man!

Ok I love og Spidops but yours is really REALLY good

the pawmi line do i really like because it doesnt change a lot but still is 3 stage.

While I don’t really have any opinion on the others, the baxcaliber is great!

skeledirge is my favorite final evo from any starter. (even though owls are my favorite animal and ghost and grass are my favorite typings) its just so pointy and beast looking. but at the same time so soft on the inside. singing beautiful songs and being based on the synergy between bird and crocodile. it is a ghost type because it creates and uses ghosts not because he is one and the entire evolutionary line is so amazing. start of with a stem that seem to be born from a thought. then it becomes a full nest with a egg in it looking like sombrero. then it is a bird in the end that it controls with its voice. the design you made looked absolutely beautiful and i think it would be cool for a regional variant or for a gender based evolution.

The Spidops looks like it adds enough to base Spidops’ design to be a Mega Evolution, but I’d prefer it if Spidops got a regular evolution, considering how lackluster the mon is in battle. The Capsakid redesign looks like it could be a Ghost type regional variant, and it’s evolution there looks like a branching Regional Evolution, like Perrserker or Clodsire I REALLY like that Baxcalibur redesign. I’d imagine, in motion, its animation for its signature move, Glaive Rush would be a full on frontflip bringing the tail blade down on its opponent, instead of the canon one’s weird 50s Godzilla-style half-flip. Great designs. Kudos

There's pictures out there where people draw pokemon as if they were the missing link evolution picture and that's what the Pawmi line makes me think of

Flamigo -> Gingamingo (from _ginga_ , pronounced "ˈʒin-ga", the main footwork in capoeira) Spidops -> Spindler or Spinder (from spin/spindle) Also I love that Baxcalibur is more quadrupedal-looking! Making the entire body the sword is so much more natural than the Godzilla attack pose. You could imagine it swimming through the ground and lunging to strike

I think my favorite redesign you've done is for Spideops(?)! I don't like how the pre-evo goes from being a cute little yarn spider to this weird tactical yarn ogre spider. I just feel like the two don't fit together (though I feel that about the other Bug line in SV with me honestly not liking the evos of the yarn spider and Nymble with me not being found of the pre-evo for the dung beetle mon). While I don't necessarily hate the redesign of the Scovillain line, I can't help but think of how it was one of the Gen 9 mons that should have been a 3 stage line with the whole seed/flower becoming two bell peppers then three, as I've seen a lot of people make. I will say I do like how you incorporated the white in the design to add a little extra color there as well as make the green bell pepper more orangey yellow to give it more fiery colors as opposed to all greens and then there's a touch of red in the head. (And the part about the skulls representing the Ghost typing, I can see that fitting Caspakid more than Scovillain in this redesign, but honestly skull imagery works well for the whole spicy theme in the line.) I wholeheartedly agree with taking out the middle stage for the Pawmi line. I feel like Gen 9 had a lot of unnecessary 3 stage lines when some I felt only needed 2 or could have just been a single stage mon with tacked on pre-evos. I admittedly had a knee jerk reaction to Skeledirge from the leaks, and I sort of regret that because Skeledirge's design has grown on me quite a bit. Sadly, I can't say the same for the pseudo legendary line. I get that it's supposed to be Shin Godzilla or whatever it's called, but I just like any of the mons in that line. They have got to be the worst pseudo line for me as far as design (and of course it has to be a type combination finally given to a non-legendary geez!)

I love flamigo, but your redesign is pretty good. Something I would change would be the beak, so.. in that sense yours is better.

I would name the spidops redesign "spoolder"

I like the idea for baxcalibur, but the arms look really short for it walking on all fours. Especially with the sail in the front, it looks like it would have to be dragging that through the dirt and pushing with its legs to go forward. Good redesigns though. Makes you wonder how many iterations and what kind of feedback Gamefreak goes through during their own design process when they still come out with big duds in the final product sometimes

Oh yeah, my choice of pose wasn't ideal. It's just low to the ground, but is still bipedal.

by far the best ones are buxcaliber and capsakid. baxcaliber is just what it was supposed to be. and capsakid is different and feel like a regional form of the original and I'm a bit upset you removed all the kappa inspiration (its in the name and the original design) but its really good on its own

Oh, jeez. I never even picked up on it being inspired a kappa, since it isn't present in the evolution. But I see it now. I just assumed the name was referencing Capsaicin, the chemical that makes peppers spicy.

I was super disappointed that Baxcalibur took so much inspiration from yk, Kaiju and _Britain_ when... The legend of Sant Jordi i el drac (Saint George and the dragon) was RIGHT. THEEEEEEEEREEEEE. IT WAS SO CLOSE! Waaaahhhh. It could've somehow referenced la casa Batlló, which is said to represent that story. IT COULD'VE BEEN SO PRETTY AND INSPIRED. But it would've been an entirely different Pokemon to begin with. Sigh. I really like your redesigns! I think my original problem w spidops is that it didn't *commit* enough to the concept. That's actually a something all the Pokemon you redesigned here had a problem with: commiting. And with these redesigns, you've helped them a great deal by making them _commit_ to their concepts. They look great! _Even_ Baxcalibur with its English inspiration.

I love all those, and yeah I'm not a big fan of gen 9... 8.. 7... 6.. design for the majority but I like normal spidops, I think he's really neat looking but yours is pretty cool too.

the Scovillain redesign feels like its own pokemon rather than a remake, that it, you just made a new pokemon rather than make Scovillain better which i think are two completely different things. and i don't think "we already have Tyranitar" is the thing, but rather "we only have Tyranitar". though Baxcalibur definately does need a redesign, i still wouldve liked it to keep the upright posture. or at least lean forward more, less like Godzilla and more like Tyrantrum/Theropods, we definately don't have enough pokemon with that posture.

You could name the Scovillain Redesign peppolar like pepper and bipolar bc of its two moods

My issue with scovillian is that his teeth are supposed to look like tge white seeds of a pepper so i expect its open mouth to look like w sliced ppen pepper... but it doesnt! And thats disappointing.

I think I'm part of the minority since every pokemon artist wanted to make a baxcalibur redesign and none of them are better than the original for me

i actually prefer the originals however i do love your take on these (I had a feeling spidops was based on the ogre spider!) Honestly though i want pokemon to branch out into different species of bugs en all like maybe one based on the Brazilian Wandering Spider known for its like red undermarkings on its legs! All en all,amazing artwork!

First of all, we watch your channel for inspiration so kudo's to you! You are awesome. But, since you asked our opinion... We like Flamigo's redesign very well. It respects the original artists views by not altering it too much, but the pose and attitude are so more clearly Fighting type that this is a serious improvement. Spidops' redesign feels like a mega to us... And... Very sorry to say this... But we love OG Capsakid and Scovillain... So we did not really like the redesign. For us the redesigns of them look not related enough to eachother. But let us say: it's just a different artistic choice

OH MY GOD CAPOEIRA ok ok ok I did a gen 9 fighting types nuzlocke of scarlet and named my Pokémon after martial arts. Annhilape was Krav Maga, Pawmot was Karate, and so on. But I named my FLAMIGO CAPOEIRA and now I’m SCREAMING because it looks so good and is how I will imagine her from now on. Thank you Froopy.

I like your redesign of spydop, the og with lack of pose in gaming looks awkward. Plus as it standing, its butts looks like its about to poop some log. About backcalibur, i remember someone drew it with old artstyle of pokemon, it looks way better.

It seems after Ken sugimori stopped doing the artwork for Pokemon they've gone downhill big time. What I hate about a lot of gen 9 Pokemon is that some of the animalistic Pokemon just don't even look natural or rather they look like robots. It's terrible enough that we have God awful future pardox Pokemon that are just robots and nothing else, but then we have Pokemon like Spidops, Veluza, Lokix,Nymble, Orthworm etc that just look mechanical. Even skeledirge, who I think is an otherwise great design has a weird underbelly which just throws off the overall designs beauty.

Pretty sure the 3 stage Pawmi line is meant to represent Darwin evolution. He starts out on all four, then transitions to learning how to walk on two legs, then fully mastering it. Also more excuse for cute pika clones. Pawmo can stay, just maybe add more neck fluff to make it look like a mid-point between Pawmi and Pawmot.

lol, yeah. I think I need to continue with this series and keep redoing underwhelming designs across more generations.

I like your work, but I have to disagree with you when it comes to Skeledirge. It’s my favourite new mon coming out of Scarlet and Violet. I like how it’s not humanoid at all, it’s head is empty, so when it’s animated, it’s little bird spirit friend can dance around its noggin and snout. It does have some Dia Los Muertos style patterns, but it’s not overtop, as it would be too cluttered if they added any more. I respect your dislike of the design, and it goes to show why Pokemon designs can be so divisive. The reasons someone may find a design bad or unappealing, is the reason why someone else may absolutely love the exact same design.

@@froopyart I do like your other redesigns though. Especially Baxcalibur: the original is meant to resemble Godzilla, but that seems so redundant, since we’ve already got Tyranitar. I love how you turned its body to resemble more of a sword, and also make it look more dinosaur-like too. Excellent work as always my man. Can’t wait to see more.

I love your redesigns, more than the originals. I think you should continue. Personally, I would have related Flamigo to Flamenco. In spanish the dance and the animal are called the same "Flamenco", so I think it would be interesting to fuse them.

Thanks, Gaby! They were super fun to work on. I thought about doing flamenco, but unfortunately there is a gen 7 pokemon Oricorio, that has a form based on flamenco dancing already. But I agree that it fits better on a flamingo.

(pleas x-skus my bad spelling im dyslexic) for me persanly the spidops one seems like a good re-disine the flamego disine cod maby add back in the boxing glufs back in on the feet like give him more chunky feet and maby make them more red to to look like boxing glufs maby for bakeskaliber i like the re-disine i like that you adid some more red to make the red things on his arms look more coherint with there disine and i love the ider of making there body look more like a sword capsaykid re-disine looks fine to me but for the skullvinen one i think just the body dosint sit well with me take the twist in the legs and make it a bulbis lil plant body and then its fine with me but bisids all that love the disine's

They are by far an improvement upon the originals. I loathe modern Pokémon designs. They’re made soulless, and prioritize marketability over respect for its origins and consistency, they make them gimmicky, too humanoid, or overly cute for stupid plushies and toys over quality creature design that feel like they belong in nature. Makes me want to make my own Pokémon generation and compete. I know I could come up with better concepts.

You should totally make your own dex of mons! It's a really fun and rewarding challenge.

I never really understood Spidop's design, especially in comparison to its pre-evo. Your design is so much cooler! And it makes the inspiration more transparent while simultaneously being more creative with it (in my opinion). The pose you chose is just brilliant, and I love the tripod/sewing needle arms. As for the name, someone else suggested Spoolder and I just freaking love that. P.S. Love your other redesigns too. I never even picked up on the comic/dramatic duality in Scovillain's original design lol. Hard disagree on Espathra though. What color palette would you have preferred on it? I think its current color palette gives it both psychedelic but also kinda Luxor Egyptian temple vibes?

Yeah, I dunno about the colors. Its starting to win me over, but something about the purple and yellow together doesn't do it for me. Maybe they are just too pastel?

Your Scovillain is so much better than the original in my opinion, as it gives it the personality that the original really lacks, keep up the good work!

Gen 8 and 9 has some of the lamest and most bland Pokemon. Some are good but gen 9 was really disappointing.

I really don't like the Scovillian redesign. I might be one of the only people who like the ugly monster plant lol. I am sorry but the weird noodle torso you made just looks wrong. I do kind of like the new heads. Baxcalibur is really cool though I know Pokemon Dinosaur man would make a great Pokemon Dinosaur. I love the new head and tail you made. As a ride or Die Godzilla Stan I do like this new version more maybe if you put your versions head and limbs on the originals pose we would have a perfect Pokemon. Your version of the flamingo and Spiderops are fantastic.

These options certainly feel like something even gamefreak should listen to, especially with the designs for capsakid and scovillain
