I have a bad knock sensor and my fuel economy has increased impressively. I'm considering leaving it like that.

It’s because you’re car loses power so it’s burning less gas

Answer: Yes, technically you can, but you shouldn’t.

I had a bad O2 sensor and got better fuel mileage and though I know it was starving my engine it was nice being able to go 2-3 weeks on a tank

I run on a bad knock sensor, bad map sensor, bad trans, bad axel, bad ball joint. Buttttttt. To be fair I do drive a 95 Toyota

Those can have everything wrong and will still run

Dont drive with bad sensor, my car used to loose power and stall while over taking, as it is an old car while using AC, it stalls faster

Guys there is an update- the mechanic scamed me, there was nothing wrong with the sensor. The issue was the wire connecting key sensor and power was rusty and causing loose contact which inturn caused my car to shut off.

Right.. i change my knock sensor but i have errors in lambda sonda...

After the change, the malfunction did not disappear🥲

Bad parts, any sensor should be OEM or a brand that is known to work for that specific sensor. Unfortunately there is a plague of bad parts especially electronics

There's a mechanical fault causing the sensor to read outside of the allowable tolerances making the module its linked to send a message that something is wrong.

I’ve driven thousands of miles with a knock sensor code lol

I had a rat eat though my pigtail for it drove it ran rough bad idle detonation like crazy when under moderate load drove it like that for about a month did some piston head damage and overheated but nothing that really was to crazy I would get it replaced as soon as possible if so

My knock sensor is bad and will cause ur check engine light to flash… then it will go into limp mode which decreases power and acceleration dramatically… not a little… amazing how one wire can cause so many problems

I've replaced both of mine and the harness and the light still comes on. I give up haha

what if youre someone who runs less octane than recommended by manufacturer and your sensor goes bad? Doesnt that mean that damage could very likely occur?

I have had issues in the past of knock sensors making my transmission shift funny. And it's currently doing it again. I think the last time I only replaced one of them. I'm doing both as we speak

I replaced both knock sensors when I redid my oil pressure gauge and I replaced the harness too and now my engine light is coming on telling me it’s a knock sensors. Hopefully, it’s not faulty from new.

If all the connections are good then most likely the knock sensors are not manufactured properly.

This varies depending on the type of vehicle you have.

I would not recommend driving with a bad knock sensor, you can indeed damage the motor

I don't know about anybody else but my 2006 Honda CRV will not run with a bad knock sensor it slows down and will end up cutting off

I replaced two knock sensors and harness two weeks ago and today it says Bank one knock sensor code P0327 or PO 337. Guess I’ll have to go look again.

My1999 Chevy silverado 5.3 is doing the same thing . Same code . With new knock sensor in it says it has low circuit. Wassup!!!

Well, I have a question I was told by a diagnostic that my knock sensor is bad I see you’re in Arizona I’m in Arizona myself I’m in Mesa a was sold pretty much a lemon I was told all that was wrong with my alignment and the check engine light was on because of a gas cap When I have had to replace my rack and pinion my axle might oil pan gasket I transmission pan gasket my alternator, my starter and my knock sensor needs to be replaced. I don’t know how to get to it and I was told it inside or underneath the manifold do you have any advice for a young lady that has no clue what to do I just conquered stage four terminal cancer and my brother bought me this vehicle and I haven’t been able to move it in a month since I bought it. It drove for one week and I went to go make a U-turn and I pressed on my guess and my car just Stolt, I thought it was my alternator then I was told it was my fuel pump, but under diagnostic it shows that the knock sensor is bad. Do you have any advice for me?

What kind of vehicle is this?

My engine light and trac light were both on, code came back as bad knock sensor..the mechanic replace sensor, still coded, replaced again, still coded. replaced again. Changed wires to the knock sensor...lights still on. I can't hear any knock. 2011 corolla. Any ideas?

Bad computer or very slight knock. Could be early stages of bad engine. Check for compression, blow by, and leak down test.

I had a bad one and it made my starter go out 😭Honda element

Arizona has emissions? I never had to do that, they just gave me my temp plate and had me on my way. (Unless it only applies to big cities)

I have a bad knock sensor on my Highlander with the 1mz (they notorious for it) it's a nightmare job and shops will price you out because they don't wanna do it. 😂 I'm so scared of trying to do it. You have to drain the coolant and remove so many vacuum lines and cables that my ADHD wouldn't work for this

​ @hanginon1293 after replacing nox sensor you are meant to take car for a long drive to sort the cat apparantly taking car for a long drive to sort the denox sulphured cat only works on diesel engines with petrol engines it has to be removed and cleaned or replaced if necessary.. mine was showing code 30EA denox cat sulphurised but was also showing injector no1 fail changed the injector and the 30EA code went away maybe with the injector needing replaced it threw out the 30EA code for no reason.. BMfuckinW's arghhhhhhhhh 🤦

Most commonly, a slight reduction in crispness will occur but nothing dramatic.
