With your first example of loading in a multi-part coin, there are a couple ways of getting it recognized as a multipart model. The first is to drag-and-drop all the items into the slicer window at once. The slicer (if Bambu Studio maintained this capability from PrusaSlicer) it should ask you if you want to load the parts as individual models or as a multi-part model. (I forget the exact wording). The other way that I know of is to load the first part, and then add part from file repeatedly for the rest of the parts (again if Bambu Studio maintained this capability from PrusaSlicer).

I don't work in layers small enough to run into multi-material details becoming transparent. However, they need 3 layers in my experience. Because the first one is messed up, two more layers to get an even cris-cross going to hide the sins of Blotchy McSmeary layer 1. Maybe one more layer if you're sanding it down lest you tempt the revengeance of Blotchy McSmeary.

10:38 Yo Zack! I ran into the same annoyance when it came to rotating parts around a center for a similar purpose. You can align the rotation better (for even numbers) by first mirroring the part across the center, then merging those two parts. This gets you a center point at the center of the rotation. Then duplicate your part, copy and paste the location of the original, then perform your rotation, each pair of mirrored details will have their center point at the exact same spot. Cheers!

Hey zach, I was having the same problem when making a phone case with an emblem on it. It took 6 hours to figure out. You can’t make the emblem a negative part. Make it a circle, scale it high tall, cut it in half. Use the lower half as a negative to carve out the where your going to set the top half. Move the top halve onto the piece and line it up. It has to stay as a positive. It’s wonky as fuck but it works.

After getting my P1S, I started exploring the Bambu Studio software. I was trying to see what all I could do with it. I found I could do a lot with it. I hadn't used any other type of 3D modeling software before. I've tried others now, yet I usually just end up using Bambu Studio because that's what I'm most familiar with. Some things are definitely more difficult than they should be. I'm still looking for a different software I can flow well with for designing more complex models.

Welcome to hacking your slicer! I like to save assemblies to the gallery and then bring them back in. Makes it easier.

I feel like Zach missed the fact that Bambu Studio CAN import an SVG and then treat it exactly the same as an stl. I've done it repeatedly, going back about 6 months.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the NFC tag leads to a youtube video with a suspiciously familiar number of Qs and Ws in the URL

Tinkercad can also import svg and you can export as STL.

How many layers did you allow for the NFC tag? Also could you give a link for those tags? Thanks!

What happens if you open the 3mf in Blender or Windows 3D Builder? I feel like one of those should be able to re-export the file in a less problematic fashion.

Masochist. The state of slicers and the awkwardness therein gives me nightly nightmares. "NO! NO OBJECTS ARE INTERFERING, LET ME PRINT!!"

Man, this is like an incredibly painful version of TinkerCAD. I guess like what TInkerCAD was 6 years ago, haha.
