I can’t explain how hyped I am for this show. Game of Thrones is definitely my favorite show, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up liking House of the Dragon more

When I first heard of House of Dragons, I was not interested. When I heard of rings of power I was not interested. After watching both trailers, HBO took the fattest shit on Amazon.

If you remove your prior LOR knowledge you will have no clue about anything. This is bad! House of Dragons gives you the story clearly. A king has chooses an heir and people are not happy.

I'm pretty sure this show has a larger budget than Game of Thrones ever did, Game of Thrones season 8 was the largest budget, at $15 million per episode, I heard House of the Dragon is $20 million per episode, but might be pretty close in budget if you account for inflation.

20-25 million per episode, yes. But since they have Warner Media now, they didn't pay nearly as much for BETTER filming equipment and a lot of the other resources that merger brought.

I think you are very right, unless Amazon pulls, _a very unexpected,_ rabbit out of the hat by giving us an intriguing, well told and epic story, instead of the woke b.s. they insist is "bringing the story up to a modern standard for a modern audience". (Paraphrased quote). HBO slaps all that woke stuff aside and brings us a story set in the time and the world, all while still having all the woke elements. They just don't put those before the story. So far anyway.

Also I have gained experienced from Wheel of time which have 14books worth of material yet amazon butchered it with their own fanfic writing where ROP doesn't have huge material so I am sure 90% of the story will be fanfic writing 😅

@@Perry_Wolf I was actually very excited for the ROP until I saw how badly they butchered WOT I lost half of my excitement and now that I saw the trailer, I mean visually its fantastic, but the changes they added and involving the current political correctness...I just...yeah not anymore excited but yes I will watch the show for sure but I don't think it will reach the hype of GOT or even HOTD. I mean look at WOT only the people who haven't read the book or desperate to see their fav book coming to live even though its means disrespecting the original source, are the only one who enjoyed the show. Majority people are angry and disappointed. I wish HBO bought the rights for LOTR...I can imagine what a fantastic show it would have been...

Man! That does look good. I'm honestly hoping big for this, Rings of Power and the dark horse Wheel of Time season 2 (though... We'll have to see.)

They won me back. This show looks amazing.

I'm looking forward to Matt Smith (my favorite The Doctor) and awesome dragons. Beyond that my expectations aren't high. But then that's usually my successful action for watching movies / series: don't put them on a pedestal early on, just wait and see how it goes, enjoy what there is to enjoy.

They never lost me, Dumb and DUmber lost me with their insanely stupid military strategy stuff and ignoring the prince that was promised arc.

Remember when Stannis’ daughter Shireen explains Dance of Dragons? That’s the story of the upcoming show. Hardhome/BoB director Miguel Sapochnik is a show runner and directs 3 or 4 episodes of the show! Can’t wait!

I feel these days that the line between motion pictures and television has been completely blurred, and if you notice most huge motion picture stars are now appearing in series format television shows with all the different streaming platforms, it offers such an array of options that to be a motion picture. You have to be pretty damn theatrical and cinematic these days

I was like you but and thought the story was going to be thin and dependant more on action with dragons but I watched a 30-minute video explaining the events of the entire show and my oh my, I'm so hyped for this.

I've always thought The Anarchy was rich material for adaptation, I will gladly enjoy the fantasy version.

I honestly think the reaction to the end of GOT is overblown. Sure it would have been better with actual source material to work from and if they had taken 10 more episodes and not teleported around so much, but much of the fan complaining I hear seems to be comprised of complaints about how it all ended up for their favourite characters. If GRRM ever does finish the books I hope that he sticks to his original vision - fleshed out right as was not done in the show -- and doesn't cave to fan complaints about how Jaime should have completed some cheesy redemption arc (instead of being redeemed but still basically being loyal to the love of his life -- flawed as that was) and gone off with Breanne or Daenerys somehow being hailed as a hero despite being an invading foreigner from across the ocean who had left a trail of atrocities behind her, among the many good things she'd also done. And as for the widespread shock that Bran would be king? Anyone with a basic grasp of narrative conventions should know that that is what Martin always had planned. This was always a story about The Starks, and Bran was the first Stark we met, just as Rand was the first main-sequence character we meet in The Wheel of Time (yes - there are WOT readers too who couldn't work out that Rand was The Dragon Reborn until the end of book 1, despite two blatant prophecies of the Dragon being sandwiched between the ending of Lews Therin's Dragnmount prologue and his appearance in Chapter 1 of The Eye of the World.

I'm going to hold off until the season is over first. I like how they're going with the prequel approach, but even three years later, S8 still has a bitter taste. If it lives up to expectations, I'll check it out. Hopefully it's good!

The same composer of GOT. The same costume designer from GOT. The lead Director from the best episodes of GOT migel Sapotchnic who did Hard home, Battle of the Bastards, etc. Trust, probably the first 3 episodes will be the warm up I call it, diving deep into the characters. @ClarusPolaris be changing back to @ClarusDracarys...🤣 The Rings of Power haven't given us a true trailer yet. With their teasers we've yet to determine what the story will be, only _very_ vague hints. And the last teaser seemed like it was mostly a poke at the fandom complaining about the changes we'll see. "The past is dead, move forward or we'll die with it". This is more interesting because they are actually giving you an idea of the story line and what we can expect from it. There is already ASoIF intrigue here. Much better trailer material. So it's not at all surprising this would be more interesting to even a diehard LotR fan.

The budget for HOTD is bigger than GOT season 8.

HBO should give fans who didn’t loose their minds and who weren’t so abrasive as to just completely shun any other GoT shows because of the last season of the original, a first look at it. Give it to the others the month after, seems fair.

I didn’t think the ending of Game of thrones was as bad as people on social media make it out to be neither. Ask people how it should’ve ended and you will get a million different responses.

ROP is bit of an unknown even though its a prequel to LOTR other than galadriel being a major part of it I dont knw anything about that show. HOTD looks more fleshed out and real and we have been introduced to the big players in this trailer and the tone and feel is very similar to GOT so I am excited for this way more than ROP.

In his mind, he truly starts to LOATHE her and DESPISE what she is, only clinging on to helping her for memory of who he thought she used to be. What would have been poetic would have been him going back not for Cersei, but for her alleged baby, because he doesn't want to abandon another child.

And Jaime just… tosses her letter in the fire, deciding she deserves whatever horrible shit is coming to her.

Lord of the Rings will be total CRAP - because it totally deviated from the lore of LoTR and J RR Tolkien. Not ONLY that, but they are bringing a lot of their "Woke" theology into it - believe me, they WILL ruin it.

Well I actually thought that the original Game of Thrones series was remarkably overrated. I have no idea why this country and the viewership became so addicted to that TV show, I mean it was ridiculous and over the top. And I have to say the same thing for Stranger Things. And I'm not trolling here, believe me there are others who feel the same way that both of these shows are ridiculously overrated.

I get why people love GOT. Most of you have probably not watched a lot of it. I was one if you, like a lot of diehard fans was. Until I sat myself through the first season. It pulls you into the political intrigue, actually caring about well-developed characters, and caring even more because there are actual stakes for their lives. It showcases human nature itself, in a lot of its forms, unlike any other show. And as an added bonus, it has dragons and unfiltered scenes that showed something new, something most other shows shy away from, just like most people shy away from talking about actual problems. The show bogged up at the end, but it brought me to the books, which is by far an even more expansive and developed world than that seen in GOT.
