Can Covid-19 vaccine sceptics be persuaded? | SpectatorTV

Completely missing the point! The question is "why does the whole country need vaccinating?" Don't we normally vaccinate just the vulnerable ie the annual flu jab?! Once the vulnerable are vaccinated, why does it matter about the rest of us?

Any such vaccine is modelled on an existing virus. It'll be a "next generation" mutation that makes you ill. The best that can be hoped from with a 'flu vaccine is that it sensitises the immune system and makes it more reactive to whatever comes along. As an NHS worker of 24 years we used to get them for free, but on the understanding that if we didn't take it and took time off with 'flu that we wouldn't be paid for the time at home.

No sensible person doesn't believe that the vaccines are a good idea. That's why there is no "other side" there isn't a credible anti vax position. That's why the vast majority of people will take it (at least one of them) including myself and everyone I know. The balance comes from the different opinions on how to make the vaccination as effective as possible. There is "no vaccines are bad" position in the same why there is no "starving is good position". No one ever argues for that. Because it's crazy. You lot in the comment section who are anti vax are crazy. It's that simple .
Well they need to start by not using old or fake data to convince us or scare us into doing it.Trust is falling rapidly.

Yeah, it scares me. But then I think that I might not be alive and walking if not for the polio vaccines. Same can be said for the small pox vaccination and the pneumonia vaccine. I still haven't got shingles either but then, I have been vaccinated. I might have been dead 2 or 3 times over if not for the tetanus and various antibiotic injections. Heck, even the flu vaccines may have saved my life.

@cosmic moth and anti 5g. it all comes from the same root. Its a lack of ability to understand complex subjects and to prefer negative narratives.. Flat earth is exactly the same as thinking that oneself knows more about vaccines than an independent body that signs them off!! If they say its safe (they havn't approved any in the UK yet) just accept that they know better and take the jab.
I will answer you Andrew. I am not hardcore anti vax. I am a 70 year old male and am in good health. My reason for being against vaccination is partially because I try my hardest to look after my own health. My principal reason, however, is that, by March, (yes it will continue indefinitely), I will have endured a year of utter incompetence, lies, division and unfair, disproportionate measures. So called experts are, as usual, divided by a considerable margin. Hypocrisy abounds everywhere. I have no faith left, to believe in anything coming my way from those in power. Nobody in authority will allow this to end. They have made such dishonest decisions, that there is no credible exit strategy. People have been conditioned to fear everyday living. People have been conditioned to embrace a new and undefined normality. Trust and faith in elected power has been destroyed. Whatever the truth of vaccination, it has become another victim of the distrust. Democracy has been found wanting. I may be the loser for my lack of faith. So be it. The only way this will end is when a critical mass of people decide to ignore directives, regardless of consequence.
What happens if you take a vaccine and you already have immunity?
Can someone talk about the indemnity these vaccine companies have please . If the vaccines are that safe why do they need it , and why is it that we dont hear from the other side . Transparency is needed to get people on board.
....... very sinister.
"Polls" are used as an excuse for persuasion
What is dose is show how much we trust the powers that be!
Maybe movies like “I am legend” and “28 days later” where a side effect of taking some new and unproven miracle anti-cancer vaccine -which mutates the population into zombies- resonates greater than a middle aged bloke standing at a lectern 🤭
Here’s an idea remove the recently amended law that prevents people suing for compensation if anything goes wrong in the future. No need to pay people to take it. That alone is the single biggest reason I won’t be having it. It stinks.
“There are none of your “Volunteers” here.”
That's why most of us are hesitant and saying NO because it's becoming compulsory to have the vaccine and the passport
Mike Yeadon and others who are top in this field say we have just about herd immunity now! He has a new video on KZread discussing this. Who would take a vaccine which has been rushed through, a professor said the people who sign it of will not be keen as it normal takes at least four years to testify its safe. Also a study in America found a correlation between people who had a MMR vaccine and higher immunity to COVID-19
Why not look at the science and then ask, can Covid 19 believers be persuaded? Pharmaceutical companies and doctors to be exempt from any prosecution.....that sounds full of confidence right🤔
Why take a completely new technology ? What’s the long term side effects of mRNA vaccines ?
The real question is, why would you want to? How about providing transparent information about the risk/benefits ratio of taking an experimental, novel type of vaccine, particularly for young and healthy people for whom the risk of dying from Coronavirus is extremely low?
Release the ingredients list
Polls are nonsense. Never been polled and don't know anyone who has
A very one sided discussion on vaccination. The former head of Pfizer Dr Mike Yeadon has always stated that you don’t vaccinate a fit and healthy population against a virus that is of little risk to them! This sort of debate will only increase people’s scepticism
@jonathanbowen3640
3 жыл бұрын
The vaccines will be rolled out with the most venerable people first. It will be necessary to vaccinate everyone before covid is essentially beaten. The lowest risk ar unlikely to be given the vaccines. Though everyone will take it eventually as they age, everyone ages.. So it begs the question why not have the vaccine when you're young and healthy rather thn leaving it till later...? I dont think Yeadon really thought through what he said OR hes taken out of context. Make no mistake everyone will be vaccinated eventually one they reach 70 ish

In normal times it can take up to 10 years to develop a vaccine, I'm at a loss to understand how it was done in less than 9 months for a virus which the scientific community is still learning about.
