Can Covid-19 vaccine sceptics be persuaded? | SpectatorTV

Completely missing the point! The question is "why does the whole country need vaccinating?" Don't we normally vaccinate just the vulnerable ie the annual flu jab?! Once the vulnerable are vaccinated, why does it matter about the rest of us?

Any such vaccine is modelled on an existing virus. It'll be a "next generation" mutation that makes you ill. The best that can be hoped from with a 'flu vaccine is that it sensitises the immune system and makes it more reactive to whatever comes along. As an NHS worker of 24 years we used to get them for free, but on the understanding that if we didn't take it and took time off with 'flu that we wouldn't be paid for the time at home.

No sensible person doesn't believe that the vaccines are a good idea. That's why there is no "other side" there isn't a credible anti vax position. That's why the vast majority of people will take it (at least one of them) including myself and everyone I know. The balance comes from the different opinions on how to make the vaccination as effective as possible. There is "no vaccines are bad" position in the same why there is no "starving is good position". No one ever argues for that. Because it's crazy. You lot in the comment section who are anti vax are crazy. It's that simple .

I will answer you Andrew. I am not hardcore anti vax. I am a 70 year old male and am in good health. My reason for being against vaccination is partially because I try my hardest to look after my own health. My principal reason, however, is that, by March, (yes it will continue indefinitely), I will have endured a year of utter incompetence, lies, division and unfair, disproportionate measures. So called experts are, as usual, divided by a considerable margin. Hypocrisy abounds everywhere. I have no faith left, to believe in anything coming my way from those in power. Nobody in authority will allow this to end. They have made such dishonest decisions, that there is no credible exit strategy. People have been conditioned to fear everyday living. People have been conditioned to embrace a new and undefined normality. Trust and faith in elected power has been destroyed. Whatever the truth of vaccination, it has become another victim of the distrust. Democracy has been found wanting. I may be the loser for my lack of faith. So be it. The only way this will end is when a critical mass of people decide to ignore directives, regardless of consequence.

The vaccines will be rolled out with the most venerable people first. It will be necessary to vaccinate everyone before covid is essentially beaten. The lowest risk ar unlikely to be given the vaccines. Though everyone will take it eventually as they age, everyone ages.. So it begs the question why not have the vaccine when you're young and healthy rather thn leaving it till later...? I dont think Yeadon really thought through what he said OR hes taken out of context. Make no mistake everyone will be vaccinated eventually one they reach 70 ish
