Over here in the Aussie nanny state, the government is trying to outlaw ChatGPT and other AI apps because kids are using them to write their essays completely LOL!!! I always thought the teachers should be able to tell a high quality, grammatically correct essay from something a 10 year old might write.

There are websites now like GPTZero that let you input text and it'll analyse it. They're pretty accurate.

I'd rather learn from a human. AI worries me. Watch the Terminator movies. How about the Rachelf guitar chorus? That would be my favorite.

ChatGPTs attempt at the G Major scale was a better guitar solo than it's attempt at a guitar solo.

Watch me in 2 months, i'll be a Guitar god because of chatGPT and will be in a search of a manager! aha just kidding! Awesome video! :)

So I don't think ChatGPT is going to be a big help or threat to us musicians or learning musicians. But just in case I want to clarify: I for one welcome our future artificial overlords and do not intend in any way to stand in their way to world domination. Please do not kill me.

Do you think the AI programs could ever be accurate as an instructor teaching you guitar?

Interesting question! In theory if they were trained more specifically on guitar related instructional material I'd think they'd be quite good at answering most guitar/music theory questions. But with guitar there is of course also the physical aspect of playing, so I can't imagine it being easier to learn most things from a program like this compared to a real teacher/video lesson. Maybe if it gets to the place where it can generate videos that closely imitate humans? But that will be a bit unnerving 😅

I'm curious. Is your fretboard knowledge just rote memorization? I can count frets but it's like multiplying by counting on your fingers and that isn't exactly the most efficient way to do math! I'm ignoring notes and chords and keys and just putting my fingers where they should go but so many players just tag any random position and name it! Or like the notes in each chord. I don't have a clue I just know the shape! Eh, soon I'll just be able to tell the AI play the guitar for me. Done.

This is something I actually need to work on! I know where some notes are just from memorization (and thinking about octaves), but most of the time I also am basically counting out the notes (some of that time is cut out in this sort of video). I'm actually planning to dedicate some time soon to strictly memorizing the fretboard as I think it will make things a bit easier, but it might take a bit to get down. I also don't think it's definitely necessary, but it's something I'd like to be able to do :)

Chat GPT aint that great. It still only does simple things but it’ll be interesting to see where it goes
