    A Wrinkle in Time was a film that's target audience was NOT 40 yr old white dudes. The press who got to review that film leaned heavily in that demographic. A balanced field of journalists would have gotten a variety of eyes on that film. Resulting in the target audience's perspective reaching the public. Brie Larson only made a rude comment, if you take a clip out of context and ignore the whole point of her speech

    People who understand nothing about how the movie industry works actually believed she was calling for 40 yr old white dudes to be fired and replaced by diversity hires. When she was only telling the movie publicity people to allow writers and critics from smaller publications into premieres and PR junkets.

  • @daybeww
    @daybeww Жыл бұрын

    Brie didn't say white males don't have the right to an opinion because of the colour of their skin. She cited statistics and shared her opinion. Which she's entitled to too. That opinion being when she stated what she doesn't need. And what she doesn't need being a 40 yr old white dude to tell her what didn't work for him about a Wrinkle in time, over a critic from the intended target demographic of the film. Its cool that you enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time. That film directed by Ava DuVernay may have been accessible to you but was not made FOR you. She had teens in mind before you. She had females in mind before you. She had black viewers in mind, before you. . None of this takes away from your enjoyment. Just saying that films are made for non white male audiences too and that they should be covered by a field of non white males that is proportionate to the general population. Check out the whole thing dude. She mentions everything you would want to hear from her.

    Have you ever read a movie review and felt like it completely missed the point (and the magic!) of a film you love? Brie Larson apparently has, and is offering a tangible, achievable solution to these misguided reviews: a more diverse pool of film critics. At the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles, Brie spoke about the importance of greater representation in criticism, which would hopefully lead to increased representation in the films themselves.

    What haters and trolls are doing is take like three or four not so good/bad/unfortunate instances and project them onto the entire life and person of Brie Larson. They paint her as being worse than Trump or Putin. I mean, if you go on youtube, it's even hard to find positive content about her. At least her name gets so much attention that more people will watch her movies than without the negativity. I can only recommend you to not believe one sided second hand information made by click baiting youtube videos made by people who make these videos to make easy clicks and easy money and that don't care the slightest for the actress or facts or how online hate and mobbing effects other people. You don't have to like nobody, especially media people are given too much importance. Still treat others with respect. Humans are not one dimensional. They are more than three dimensional with a past, with a present, with strengths, with flaws, with good and bad days, with struggles from the past, with a physical appearance, with a certain humour etc. To think you can decipher a private person like Brie Larson by watching three clips of her and taking her well intented deliberately Diversity Speech out of context, congratulations. You're a genius. Above all they judge Brie without having ever met her in person. Then they wouldn't tell her what they post on videos onto her face. Maybe the invention of the internet wasn't such a good idea after all.

    Brie could have had a difficult time in her life when her career at Marvel started. Brie auditioned for different roles at Marvel and when she got asked or so to become Carol Danvers, she hesitated and she rejected the role twice. Why? Because she was afraid of the fame and the attention and what it would do to her life. Brie is rather private and not as good at "social interaction" as many other actors. But in the end she accepted this famous role. It was a good choice for her career. I think Brie was overwhelmed by her tasks. She had to sit in an interview next to Hemsworth and Cheadle and joke about who is the strongest Avenger and she being the only woman there and the new girl, wanted to appear tough but had not the experience and the confidence of these male superhero superstars. Also her wanting to bring change to movie reviewing journalists with her diversity speech still is to me a very weird thing. The way Brie presented her issue and the way she worded it was very weird. She had good intention and spoke about true things but she tried to break through a wall. It was too much. Despite the general hate Brie receives from haters that hate every little thing she does, after these interviews for Avengers and her Diversity Speech and her infamous Wired interview, which I believe was just her kidding because who would honestly give an interview like that? And Brie is definitely not known for being rude to interviewers and talking back etc. After these interviews, you cannot say much against her interviews or talkshow appearances. She was great in her Captain Marvel interviews and lovely on the talkshows she appeared on. And she did a lot of different things besides acting and almost never acknowledged the haters and stayed positive and went on being successful with her career.

    @@FrotLopOfficial Seen? There are a lot of rumours floating around on the net. They can be true. Or not. Brie is not known for being mean on set or being mean in general. In the end everyone will believe about Brie (and with many other things it's the same: It's about what you decide to believe and what not) whatever they want. You can call me naive or your word of choice. I have decided for me that Brie is great. And I was very confused when I became a fan 8 month ago and read so many bad things about her. Of course she's not perfect. I cannot know if something I hear about her is true or not (you can't either, you can decided if you believe the negative rumours or not) and what is really going on behind the cameras. Something I just came across in my thinking process is this: The Brie Larson we see is the public version of Brie Larson. It's a figment of our imagination. Who the real Brie Larson is we cannot ever know. Because she's private and she'll always appear as the Brie Larson Public Persona, even when I would meet her, which is highly unlikely. It's like the way you and me protect ourselves by playing or showing a version of ourselfs that shows our best qualities, Brie would do the same. Even if she wasn't acting, she would be perfectly trained to appear super awesome to fans. And I'm not saying that this would un-authentic. Fans of a celebrity have a parasocial relationship. It's insane. I can only be a fan of Brie Larson because we're in the age of Social Media. 10 years ago or 15 year's ago, it would have been way harder to impossible to be such a fan of Brie. It's one-sided and insane if you think about it. We all do insane things.. Since I don't know Brie personally, it doesn't matter if we think this rumour is true or not. I can decided that I think, believe, feel that Brie is great and what is not proven is not true and from everything I heard and read and seen about Brie, I don't think she would behave badly. To me this is important because Brie and her content brings joy to my life. Let's say you have serious doubts about her or dislike her, than it doesn't matter because in no case Brie would be an important part of your life.

    brie larson stunts interview before chris hemsworth No, it really all came out of ignorance, to be honest. I didn’t realize that you don’t actually do your own, most people don’t do their own stunts in these movies. I thought you did, and I’ve never been a particularly elegant or athletic person. I’m just an introvert with asthma and felt like I needed to be able to do that. I just thought, “I don’t wanna be on set, and they ask me to do things, and I don’t know how to do it.” So I started training as soon as I could, which was right after I wrapped, so it basically started right as I wrapped picture, I locked picture on the film that I directed. I then went into that, which then turned into nine months of training. And nine months of just training-training, and three months of stunt training with the stunt team. We spent two hours every day, five days a week. And it wasn’t until … everyone just went along with it, and was like, “Cool.” It wasn’t until we started shooting, and I started doing all my own wire work stunts, and flips and stuff that people were like, “You know nobody, now we’ll tell you, nobody actually does this. We just didn’t want you to stop. But now that you’ve kind of accomplished this thing, we don’t normally do this.” And I was like, huh?

    @@BadFluffy Exactly, from a distance, which is how we view these celebrities, a psychopath (and narcissists) would likely seem the nicest most personable person in the world, they are very good at 'fake'. Brie's tendency to present that unpolished transparent version of herself means she's probably alright. I suspect though with how good she gets at stuff she probably can be a bit single minded and get stuck in a zone.
