She's a beautiful ship. The reason she has so many guns was that she was designed with more firepower than her contemporaries to be able to take on German light cruisers in the Baltic. At the time, she had the best firepower of all DDs in existence. She survived the war and is now a museum ship in the Polish port of Gdynia, and it's well worth visiting. Incidentally, she's the oldest preserved destroyer in the world, with HMCS Haida in the second place.

Original Swedish arms 1937 : 7 x 120 mm guns 4 x 40mm 8 x 13.3mm 6 x 533mm torps UK arms 1941: 8 x 101 mm 4 x 40mm 4 x 20mm 6 x 533mm torps soviet arms 1952 : 8 x 100mm (15 rounds per min) = 4 s reload 2 x 37mm 70-k 8 x 37mm V-11 3x 533mm torps In game Blyskawica have first 1937 build , so with WG logic we should have 2 more verion Blyskawica 41at T8 , and Blyskawica 52 at T9 , I hope that will happen:)

Fun fact, during sea trials she kept breaking her boiler tubes when run at flank speed for extended periods. The shipyard tried to argue that "it's no way to sail a warship..." The Polish Navy disagreed strongly and after some diplomatic wrangling, her and her sister ship's boilers got reinforced to run at flank continuously, or at least long periods. i.e. she should get long acting boost in the game, I guess she got the boost consumable at a time before nearly every DD had it.

She is a famous ship where i live for a while in WW2 she was used to give our island AA cover from the German bomber raids. Isle of Wight of the south coast of UK.

@@jeffshoesmith8047 interesting! I've heard this story in Poland but didn't realise the people on the Isle of Wight remembered about it. Seeing as the Poles weren't even invited to the Victory Parade in 1945 because the Allies didn't want Stalin to be cross, I didn't think these bits of history were taught and remembered.

Shadow another DD or work in concert with a friendly radar cruiser. Farm ships broadsides using your smoke and spam torps on cooldown. Keep your distance from strong gunboat DDs and radars. It has a lot more DPM than the T9, but is also a lot harder to play thanks to its worse concealments.

This ship, when first released, was a monster with stealth fire. Still fun, but it'll never be like it once was.

The last manoeuvre should be called “ORP Piorun drift”. And I have no clue if there is ORP Piorun in this game, but certainly should be. Immune for battleship fire and able to ram them without dying.

The way you got so close to the Iowa near the end was an unintended reference to Laffey's encounter with Hiei. The former got so close to the latter that Hiei couldn't actually aim her main guns at her, while the Laffey raked her superstructure with machine gun fire.

I would love to see Laffey put into the game as a tanky gunboat version of Benson at tier 9. Give her a special Austin reload booster with 10 seconds active time and 180 seconds cooldown in place of smoke generator that gives 1/4 pen while reload booster is active (32mm pen while active, standard 21mm when inactive), improved AP pen angles equivalent to American heavy cruisers, put engine boost and DFAA in separate slots, and increase her base hp to an even 18000. The American dds deserve some love after all these years of neglect, so having two strong premiums to choose from after Johnston's release would be great.

This DD is a monster in Ranked. I have an 82% Winrate with her with 3.5k PR. Her guns are amazing vs BB and DD. The dmg output and Fire chance are what make her scary. Additionally with range the ballistics are great for anti Cruiser and BB in Randoms. I personally don't feel she is that power crept

How about another old ship? Duca d'aosta (I think it was spelled like that) is I'm pretty sure the first Italian ship added to the game, a premium T6 cruiser. It is very fast and mobile, HE pretty weak in my experience but AP straight up deletes other cruisers. Typical Italian torpedoes, slow, low damage but big range and reload pretty fast. It has a spotter plane, DFAA and hydro so it's pretty good support ship. Only downside is being super squishy and no repair party (but that's true for most cruisers at this tier)

I’d love to see Agincourt full secondary or Alabama or T2 Smith with 11 seconds of torpedo reload time.

Pulled one of these out of a first year xmas container. Stealth firing on the Blyska was a nightmare if I remember right. It's still a nice ship - so much better than Grom.

For this next ship request my pick is the North Carolina. The reason is quite simple, as someone who is much better at the game than me once said, the NC is like training wheels for BBs, master the NC and you'll be able to master the NC. So I wanna see how you do if we go back to the very basics of BB play.

Would love to see you play the lost bb of Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona.

I would love for them to add the option where you can switch between the '40 and '42 refit (kind of like the Monaghan) where you either have the original 120mm guns or the 4in DP guns. Either you are a gunboat or you are an AA DD with maybe upgraded toros.

I find that there are scenarios where shorter range guns are desirable. Knowing where your guns are effective or not is key. Max range on shells that are hard to land only serves to open you up to being a target due to the bloom and when your shells are hard to land that far out, range isn't worth it. Having a lower conceal from shorter range means you can choose more fights on your terms, since you won't be dealing with dodging spotting from ships that can reach out and blap you, but you can hardly return the favor. I love short range guns on pan Asian ships, American ships. Stuff that can be aggressive imo benefit greatly from short guns.

Havent seen HMCS Haida played in a little while, that'd be neat.

Range is more important when you are up tiered or matched against a secondary BB with a DDs that aren't stupid. You can still do dmg and work around the secondaries and cruisers with good guns.

So in the 2nd game, there's a ship I don't recognize. What is the Almirante Oquendo?

here's something people need: Secondary Amagi. Amagi has improved accuracy of her secondary guns, and for a tier 8 her range isn't AWFUL - though it's nothing to write home about either. I've had many incredibly fun games (Even in randoms, even running full secondary, since the ship is just solid with or without equipment) so i defo reccomend giving her a go

Competitive, though certainly not the strongest T8 BB. NC that doesn't blow up at the cost of dispersion. It's solid but on the boring side gameplay wise.

First money I ever spent on the game!

I dont know how you can play these gun boats so effectively, no one ever shoots at you for some reason. When i take out my Split, no smoke available and it's just snipers hitting me full on from far away.

You got really lucky here not to face an actual T8 or T9 gunboat, 6.8km concealment with that mediocre DPM is rough. Maybe try FR25 next, it's not too dissimilar to Blyska, but more dynamic with the exhaust smoke (can do suicide runs), it has better concealment, higher DPM with SAP, it's slower without engine boost but has 20% boost.

Have not seen the video yet.. I'm going to say you liked it even though your a BB driver. ITs a great ship. Old or not. Especially with the Prem Capt in it.. As Far as ships to play.. How about the Sinop!
