I have this very printer and use it to make model railroad 1:43 scale fences, buildings, people, and anything under 100 x 100 mm in size. Yep it’s slow, but lots of fun at a great price!

@@fallingwater Don't forget to add the euro to dollar conversion, shipping costs and possibly import taxes. An Ender 3 V2 (they don't even have the V1s anymore) here in Brazil costs at minimum, new and to your door, about 480 dollars. Shipped through Aliexpress, the EasyThreed K7 comes at around 100, which might slip under the taxed import rule so no extras. No matter how much more capable, that's still almost 5x the price.

I was thinking you could add one of those very thin reptile heaters to heat the bed ...

This is my first 3D Printer! I was very cautious about the instructions and how I handled it because it seems cheaply made. But so far I love it and I am now hooked on 3D Printing (along with my many other hobbies). But I paid $60 for mine cuz it came with a bunch of coupons if I bought filament with it. I'm still trying to figure out where I can get gcode files or how to design my own.

I recommend cura. Create a custom machine, set the size to 80x80x80, and save your gcode.

Simply search for STL files. Those are the models or designed items. Use Tinkercad (it’s FREE) to edit the item the way you wish. Then take that saved item and import it into a mesh program like CURA (it’s FREE). That program “slices” the item for printing. Then save the CURA file on the printers small memory card, eject it from your computer and place the memory card in the Easy Threed card slot. If your printer is on…turn it off (unplug it), then plug it in again. The “right arrow light” should be solid green. Press it once. It will begin to flash, then let it run. It takes a few minutes to load and get going. (Has to heat up.) To cancel…not pause…but cancel the print…hold down the far right green arrow for three seconds. NOTE: The printer will print the most recently added item to your memory card. NOTE: Every time you want to print, you must power down the printer and power it up again.

By the way. Tinkercad creates STL files for the item you wish to print. CURA takes the STL file and makes it Gcode which is what the printer uses to print the file/item.

Interesting that they configured software endstops on it properly, makes me wonder if it's just running Marlin, Repetier or some standard firmware on whatever custom board it has. From the slowness and price I suspected it was using those 12v geared steppers, and sure enough that's exactly what I found when straight up looking the model. No wonder they can keep the costs down so much, keep it small and the cheapest parts. By the way does it connect to a standard serial interface like Pronterface? Might make leveling it a lot easier that way, just manually sending each command instead of hand-moving the axis.

Hi proffessor, I think this printer maybe is powered by 28byj geared steppers, and thats why sometimes it backlashes. And because of them moving it by hand is also that hard, see you the next time :D

What filament did you use for the raptor in the background above your left shoulder? Is that (Fulament?) Matte Filament? Blue Color looks awesome!

Мне отец когда-то говорил об автомобилях, что первым автомобилем надо выбирать максимально старый и убитый, с механической коробкой передач и карбюратором. И делать это не чтобы ездить в удовольствие, а чтобы понять, как все работает, чтобы у тебя все сломалось, и ты все починил. Если следовать такой логике, я не прогадал. При первом включении отрыгнула ось Y, и я не сразу понял что что-то не так. Потом калибровка, что есть отдельное удовольствие. В общем, прямо из коробки не печатает. Я рад.

Как думаешь стоит ли его сейчас покупать за 5к ?

I'm wondering if replacing the springs with either, higher quality/high stiffness springs, or silicone columns, would help it keep the bed level over time. Either of these options are a cheap upgrade/test. I did that to two of my printers, and the bed rarely needs releveling.

Now that's a printer that can be targeted however the manufacterer wants. Easy to use, safe and does the job.

I'm having serious issues with the easythreed X1, the 1st print I recieved the rocket model printed beautifuly. then using Drivethrurpg 3d stl file I got for free because I wasn't sure if it be up to the challage. I didn't change any setting i just used cura slicer. it started out pretty good, but as it grew in height it starting hitting the model I had adjusted setting tried again same result. then I tried too use a different model, it started reprinting the same model as before. today I readjusting the settings got a better result but the extruder has a tendecy to clump on certain part on the print then ruining the whole print. the two I did this morning look better then the last few prints. you can at least see what it is. I have done the adjusting on table according to the instructions. the magnectic bed warped, extruding has also burned holes in it. plus plastic still sticks too removable magnectic bed, even after using acetate. I have even used the bed without the removeable print bed. I lowered the extruder temp it seemed to work much better still clumping up on parts of model. any sudgestions.

I think cura can manually move the head and bed for Easier leveling.

This was my first printer and I easily got frustrated with it. Now that I have a cr10 I am considering modding it for giggles.

Again, "for the price" comes into play. Like, of course an $80 3D printer is frustrating. But, for the price, you expect it to be good. Still, apparently it got you going in the right direction.

I use mine when I give demos about 3d printing. It's so portable

Pretty neat little printer. I'm just curious if it has thermal runaway protection.

Dunno. It's a pretty tight package so I don't know if it's ever likely to break the closed loop, so probably not a big problem. But an interesting question. It knew where it's limits were in the movement system.

I dont' know if that would work, but it would be worth trying.

You can mishandle expensive tools, - the ones you are so careful with - , a lot. They can have it, but look out with cheap tools. The way you pull the bed and on the y-axis to level the bed, is that the way to do it? The way you lift the printer by the z-axis, are you sure you will not bend those two small rods?

I view this the way I view getting tools from Harbor Freight. if I actually use it enough to break it within the first year of owning it, then I should buy a better one. But if I don't use it often enough that it matters in the end, then I can call it a minimal cost experiment.

There's a video on the included SD card that tells you to do it like that... Scary, but the way it's intended to be done. Maybe they want it to bend, who knows

I appreciate that $80 is very little to spend on a 3d printer, particularly one that works as well as this one, but I still can't help but recommend saving more and picking up an ender 3... yeah, it's twice the money at about $170, but because it's so ubiquitous, it's got WAY better support, lots of turnkey 3d printable upgrade parts, lots of electronics upgrade parts available, lots of standard parts available for when they break or get worn out, etc. it's also got way bigger print volume than the threed printer which lots of models (especially the larger ones) are cut up into parts that are that size (you may have problems with many larger models with that smaller build volume), and the ender 3 is still very reasonably priced.

But the Ender 3 can't print ninjaflex. Also, I generally add $100 to whatever price you pay for an Ender 3, because you're gonna spend on it. Not say the K7 is better. They're just different. I think the Ender 3 is still a fine suggestion for some people, though I still prefer the FlashForge Adventure 3 for the general case.

It's a different level of commitment though. I wouldn't expect this tiny printer's target customers to consider it the starting point for modding the hell out of it (though knowning myself I probably would do exactly that); it's a prepackaged just-works kind of deal one gets for funsies, or for kids. Also the ender3 is a bit long in the tooth by now; I'd go for a more up-to-date model with upgraded drivers, a better board and a cooling system you don't have to redesign yourself. If I had to start anew today it'd probably be a Voxelab Aquila.

Not to mention the difficulty of counting the cost for your time, let alone the additional cost of parts, or what that does to the overall reliability of the machine. Heck, there's a mod for the Ender 3 that turns it into a belt printer. Saying that mods count as root functionality is a slippery slope.

If it'll fit in it's build volume, it could do it. It won't be the best experience, but it'll do the job.

easyware is good. i have used it alot, you just need to know when the program can handle settings and when its best that you do it.

The accuracy of this printer isn't great. I might not recommend it for car parts. Toys or parts you don't care about only, I think. You might want to look into the Kingroon KP3S S1 from Sliceworx if you want to keep it small, cheap, and funtional.

You're gonna get what you pay for. You can probably make this work. But, if you want to have a 3D printer that just works and has high detail, I might recommend looking into a DUP printer like the Mars 2. It's a lot more messy, and you need to take precautions, but it will work better for detail work.

Don't I see a little black switch next to the home button could that be the power switch

Yes, there's a switch. But nope, it's not a power switch. That's how you switch from loading to unloading filament. Wild, huh?

I think this is a good option for me, I am in the drone hobbies, and I want it only to print parts for my drones I don´t need anything else, and I don´t wanna pay more. thanks.

Sounds like the filament isn't properly loaded.

That is one of the trappings of being a KZreadr when people are sending you printer after printer. I haven't had a chance to really run this one through the wringer. But I've still got it. Maybe I'll fire it up and see how it's doing.

@@3dpprofessor The Y-axis motor bushings and gears lasted a week on my two printers. I ran them almost constantly for a week. It seems the belt on the Y-axis is too tight and places stress on the motor shaft. I'd love to see owners stress test theirs then report back. Otherwise the printers were good for the price until they broke down. A replacement motor is $28 USD.

Can you make a video on how to make anything other than a rocket?? I got this and I can only figure out how to make a rocket

On the SD card there's a manual and a piece of software. You have to load up the software on a computer, load a 3D model into it, and slice it for the 3D printer, then save the gcode onto the root of the SD card, plug it in, and press the start button and it'll print it.

Probably, seeing as it's K7+K2. But I don't have any hands on with it, so I can't say for sure.

I bought this printer, but I'm unable to get more than 2 or 3 layers printed and then the model will detach from the base plate and the print is ruined. Any ideas?

What are you printing with? Have you properly leveled the build plate? Have you tried leveling it a little closer? A quick solution might be to use gluestick, but if you have access to repositionable glue spray is a little better.

@@3dpprofessor I'm printing with the white PLA that was in the box. Still waiting for the ordered extra PLA, but MadeTheBest is terribly slow at delivering it. Tried leveling countless times, with different types (thickness/weight) of paper. The base plate also does not seem to get heated, which is strange because there's a heating element beneath it (and all the connectors are connected, of course). I'm going to contact their customer service and return it. The build quality is really terrible.

@Robert Van Weersch The K7 doesn't come with a heated plate by default.When I level the build plate, instead of trusting a piece of paper, I use the piece of paper to get it into the neighborhood, and I do a specially designed print and dial it in while it's printing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaejla2jaNK_YJM.html

even after "calibrating" the printer.the filament after being extruded somewhat sticks to the nozzle and is pushed out of the way when printing.anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

Have you tried different filament? Have you tried a slightly higher temperature? Have you increased the stickyness of the build plate with Aquanet ultra hold hairspray or gluestick? Don't try all of these at once. Test one solution at a time.

@@3dpprofessor thank you.i will try them all.i did adjust temp but have not tested yet.it was set to 180.i adjusted it to 200 to see what happens.i think it is a mixture of temp and the sticky news of the plate as you stated.i will use glue stick as I have extra laying around.i greatly appreciate the reply.thank you

god the bed on mine cust be concave cuz after leveling it at the 4 cornersit is too far away in the center :( i hate this

I don't have hands on experience with either of them, but the Hero 101 seems like it's nothing but trouble, whereas Easythreed has a proven track record of making cheap but functional 3D printers. If I were trying to make this choice, it would be and easy one for me.

Hey guys Creality's 4.8 slicer program Knows what K7 X1 means I just put in Custom EEF printer and boom popped up with the Dimensions but this is the Industry standard Maker bot Cupcake not withstanding... but I think I will hack it right out of the box...

My first hack will be a part cooling fan for the head... really cheap motor for the extruder so the heat break fan will be the second thing i upgrade but if i do enything i might have to replace the supply and board...looks like all the plugs are standardized so i might be able to throw in my Ender3 1.4 4 stock board.... annoyingly this might put this price point to the 250 dollars mark...

It costed me $144.00CND on Ali Express Will be 13 days shipping at 25 bucks... it was 30 bucks cheaper on banggood but you did have DHL as an option but you would add another $76.65CND just for that option and it would be only August 28 not sept 3 so no contest.. this is just a backup to produce replacment parts.

10mm per second? i have the x3 easythreed printer and it can do 40mm per second max

Interesting. Is that a slicer setting or are you somehow measuring actual movement speed? On the K7 I changed the slicer setting to 60mm/s and the hardware just kinda ignored that and went back to a crawl.

@@3dpprofessor just the print speed setting in Cura, if you go on their website they have all the manual's and the k7 manual said it can to 10-40mms per sec. I think all their printers max out at 40mm per second because of the types of motor they use. Good little printers to learn with

@@EngineerAAJ Interesting. With this particular printer, not really. I think the biggest problem is I have no idea how to change the firmware. Then again, I've seen ingenious people do amazing things. But I would think a printer more like the TRONXY100 or Kingroon KP3S would do a better job for a starter printer that you can upgrade to something bigger. In fact I've seen it done with a TRONXY100.
