Can a hose make Cordless airbrushes better? Cordless compressor review. The Uncorded Gooch Ep 29

Ойын-сауық

This cordless airbrush kit was sent to me from Casubaris. It is different to the ones I've reviewed before due to the addition of an airhose. I test the battery compressor with and without the hose to see if it makes any difference and show how easily you can add other makes of airbrush to this compressor to get great results. Plus I point out a few things to watch out for.

    There are a lot of these generic Chinese Airbrush / Compressor sets about under different names. I bought one very similar to yours few months ago and it works great. Its so convenient and easy to use, it works great with my Badger 105 Patriot (with 1/4" hose Adaptor). However the airbrush that came with it is much better than the first Chinese airbrush I bought some years ago. Much better workmanship and great performance. I find the .3mm nozzle and needle set up works best. Really good review, I got the hose too but never used it.

    That sounds like a good idea. After the video, while cleaning the airbrush, I bumped the hose and the cordless compressor fell on the floor breaking one of the batteries. They are so light it is easy to knock them off your bench. Luckily the spare battery still works with it. I will try your idea and put the compressor in my pocket next time.

    Good on you Angelo… I am thinking of trying the hose on my other compressors, but one problem is if you forget its attached and move the airbrush too quickly you can bump the light compressor off the workbench to the floor. I’ve already done this by accident and broken one of the two batteries.

    Nice video! I picked up one of these about a month ago after a recommendation from another youtuber. Overall I'm very happy with it. It's great if you just need a quiet airbrush/compressor on a budget. I was using a 3 gallon shop compressor prior to this and just couldnt take the noise. My only complaint really is that it seems like the pressured drops on this after about 10-15 minutes of usage. It's an audible change and very noticeable in my results. I've found that switching the battery to a fully charged one brings it back up to full pressure. It also seems that just popping the same battery out and back in works as well but I need to test this more to be sure.

    I would guess if you have used it for 15 mins continuously then the compressor is overheating. So removing the battery, letting in cool air, and replacing may just allow the internal seals to cool then tighten again, resulting in improved pressure.

    It’s not a bad solution… just secure your compressor on the workbench when using the hose. I accidentally flipped my compressor onto the floor and broke the battery connections, rendering that battery useless. Luckily there was a spare, but it’s the Achilles heel with this design.

  • @joel6376
    @joel637610 ай бұрын

    I ran an older cordless model without a hose. Adding a 2m hose causes it to start running at a lower pressure then conking out and stopping much faster over extended use. It is also not uniform how long it takes to stop. Taking a break every minute or so stops this. I figure the extra load from needing to pressurise the hose causes issues. Considering getting one of these now as the compressor unit looks larger/more capable. Having two would be fine as well for extended sessions.

  • @HarryHoudiniModels

    @HarryHoudiniModels

    Just be careful of the light weight compressor and short hose. Doesn’t take much to flip it off the bench and smash onto the floor, as mine did. I’ve damaged one battery already, and it does not lock back into the compressor, so is useless. One tip I was given was to put the compressor in your pocket, then there is less chance of dropping it. Honestly, I feel the hose just negates the entire concept of a portable cordless airbrush. But each to their own.

    I think affordability, ease of use, and for first time users a good gate way into airbrushing. It’s also relatively quiet, so can be used more as you don’t disturb others as much. Quick to setup anywhere, you just pick it up and go - as long as you have charged the compressor. Takes up less space in the hobby room. Great for quick jobs as it’s instantly ready to go - as long as you remembered to charge. The hose helps you get down into lower areas better and allows multiple brands of airbrush to be fitted. But most of all…. it’s just fun and funky!

    I live in an apartment and can't justify the sound or the fumes of the paint inside. So I take this boy outside with a cardboard box and prime/base paint whatever I'm working on and go back inside. Neighbors don't hate me and family and cats don't need to inhale the fumes. Not to mention my space is limited, not a million years do I have room for a floor compressor. If you have the space for a tank compressor it's better in (almost) every way, but I think this product has a target audience for people like me.

  • @HarryHoudiniModels

    @HarryHoudiniModels

    10 ай бұрын

    It’s just a regular airbrush on a portable compressor. Anything that can usually be sprayed at 20 psi should work on this cordless with a hose. However for thicker primers, like Stynylrez, I have found they struggle on long sessions. If you can prime in under 5 minutes then it should cope. Or simply replace the airbrush, using the supplied adaptor, for a larger needle version.

    Hard to say as I only use cordless for small projects so never run the battery down. However on another cheap cordless I bought from eBay it ran for 30 mins continually when I tested it, but overheated the battery and ruined it. These kind of setups are just for short sessions with many breaks not continuous use.

  • @HarryHoudiniModels

    The airbrush comes with a braided hose, but it is quite stiff, so any sharp movement as you spray can flick the compressor off your workbench. I would suggest a softer and longer hose, plus make sure you secure the compressor so it cannot fall and break, as mine did.

    @T_TriesGaming the compressor is very light, not usually an issue when directly screwed to an airbrush, but with the hose any airbrush movement will twist and turn the hose, so the very light compressor can, and did in my case, fall off your workbench. My battery tab then snapped so that battery is now unable to click back into the compressor. Luckily there is a spare battery so I have been able to continue using the compressor. It was suggested you put the compressor in your pants pocket, so it is safe. I now wedge it under my workbench so it cannot fall. Apart from that it has worked fine, even with the supplied airbrush, although I am still not convinced the hose is a good idea, as it defeats the whole reason for a “cordless airbrush”.
