I don’t think this is a case for everyone lads.. Aaron Ramsey, childhood Cardiff fan. Scored against us. Played us off the park. Didn’t celebrate. Applauded our fans after the game. How it should be done… Then does everything in his power to sign for his childhood club towards the end of his career. What a lad.

100%. People forget that players and managers, medical staff, etc all at one point where fans of clubs throughout their childhood. That’s why they become players, managers etc. they were once fans. They still can support the club that they grew up supporting and playing for their rival. At the end of the day as a player, you have to do what’s best for your career. If that means going to a rival at some point, so be it. Business is business.

Dyche didn't like him (not personally, him as a player) and the statistics showed that he wasn't that good. Played Keane, which was a mistake, then played Mina towards the end, who was great. After seeing Branthwaite playing vs Wolves, we're hoping he'll be able to become our starter next to Tarkowski. Coady is the soundest bloke I've seen play for Everton in a long time, but Dyche wasn't going to start him and he wanted guaranteed playtime. We've been linked with Elvedi and Tanganga, who'll hopefully contribute to rarely having to see Keane starting again

Lovely guy, i know a few fans that where a bit sceptical due to his past but he won them over on game week 1, clearly fully dedicated from start to finish. I saw him a few times as my kids went to the same school as his and he always had time for everyone, especially the kids that wanted pictures and autographs. Doesn’t matter if it’s your eternal rival, the team that offers you that contract is the team that’ll get your support.
Guys Jonathon Woodgate could have answered that with 2 teams, I used to be a professional chef in the early 00's he was a regular in a restaurant I worked at, he grew up in same area as my head chef at the time and I used to have great banter with him, when he joined Newcastle I was giving him stick about playing for our North Riding North Yorkshire Derby rivals Leeds to then join our Tyne Tees Rivals, I asked him if he would ever play for us and he replied yeah it's my hometown club the club I support its just football, he joined Madrid then came home, he walked into the restaurant and I greeted him with arms wide open and he just laughed and said does it mean that much, I said to any fan when the local boy comes home it means something no matter the team of course it means that much

When you are trying to do football as a profession, you have to take away the fan inside you. Unless you play for the team you’ve always supported. Like Gerrard at Liverpool, Torres at Atletico Madrid, and Neville at Man United. But a lot of players become fans of a new club that they’ve played for and achieved good things with. Carragher originally supported Everton as a kid, but because he only played for Liverpool and won trophies he became a Liverpool fan. Same thing with Fowler, McManaman (though I think if he had to choose I think he prefers Madrid), and Owen (though he then went to Manure which a lot of fans still haven’t forgiven him for). They all supported Everton as kids but became bonded with Liverpool because they loved their times there. To the opposite, Peter Reid grew up a Liverpool fan as a kid, but became an Everton fan while playing for them. Ole Solskjaer grew up as a Liverpool fan but became a fan of Man United because of his time there. Lampard grew up a West Ham fan but became a fan of Chelsea because of his time there. So most footballers tend to become fans of the teams they play for, and the team they grew up supporting gets left behind.

And tbh with players like ole it’s different as that was in their boyhood. When they grew up and learned to think for themselves they picked the right club to support, the bigger more successful club.
@AgentRafa
10 ай бұрын
@@Johndoe-gf7eu 🤣 Yeah right, when Ole joined United in 1996, United wasn't bigger and more successful than Liverpool. At that point United "only" had 10 league titles vs Liverpool's 18 league titles, and United had only won 1 - a pathetic 1 European cup against Liverpool's 4. Yes United had won 3 of the last 4 league titles at that point, so they were definitely in a better place than Liverpool if you only take the near history into account, it was 6 years since Liverpool's last league title at the time. Learn your history kiddo. When Ole made his debut for United in 1996 he was still a member of the Norwegian Liverpool supporters club so I can assure if Liverpool were interested in him back then he would've chosen Liverpool, he even said so himself in an interview with a local newspaper a few years back. But of course in hindsight he's super happy things turned out as they did, because he became a United legend with almost every trophy on the planet in his bag. But the really funny thing is; that when he came back later as a United manager he also became a Liverpool legend😉#OleAtTheWheel🤣🤣🤣

One misconception is that Coady is a local lad. He is actually from St.Helens which is on Merseyside (Used to be Lancashire) and this town is a mix of Liverpool, Everton and Man utd fans. He grew up in the lancashire side of the town, haydock, but went school and youth football in the Scouse side of the town, Rainford. So he is not technically a local lad but does represent the values and morals of the city of Liverpool as if he was from there. Similar with Gerrard, he was born in Whiston and went to Whiston juniors which is politically part of St.Helens. However, Gerrard grew up in Huyton, the outskirts of Liverpool but actually in Liverpool. Theres a reason the accents differ between coady, gerrard and carragher.
Was it finances that Coady wasn’t retained or did Dyche just not rate him?
Can someone translate
Lol he’s only saying that because he’s been caught out on being a massive WOOL. 😭
He is not a Liverpool fan 🐍 .
Any football fill in? Or you having a bank holiday?
I can’t understand how Ben and Coady can sit there and say that. No matter what your boyhood club should be in your heart for your life no matter where you end up at on the way. So what if you’re playing for a different team, your first and only club you truly support should not go away. If you’re playing against your childhood club you should do your job as playing football and not in the eyes of a fan or a player playing for another team/rival. 🤷♂️ But still you can’t sit there and say “ I enjoyed winning a derby for Everton” being a footballer it should be your dream to join your boyhood club…surely? If that means beating them when on your journey so be it but I can’t understand how he can say it with such commitment and confidence how he enjoyed it. It baffles me.
