Can a 265 lb Man Transform Into Motocross Champion?
Спорт
Is it possible for a 265 pound dirt bike rider to transform into a National motocross champion? We join former pro MX racer Glen Phillips as he embarks on an inspiring journey to loose 50lbs in order to fight and compete for an official ACU British motocross championship.
Glen joined forces with Tom from MotoFit in order to reach his goals and inspire the young riders that he his working with. In this video we'll watch Glen transform before our eyes as he gets ready for the ACU Vets British Motocross Championships at Toddington. We hope you enjoy watching! :-)
Thanks to Glen for being a savage and to Luton and District for having us at the races.

Awesome. story I m a 45yr old dad from Florida. last November I weighed 318lbs. im down to 270lbs and hope to get down to 220lbs by winter because I have always wanted to compete in MX but also be competitive, even if it is for old guys. But for me it is 2 stroke only. Have a YZ125 now but will be looking for a nice 250 on the used market.

Glen is an inspirational superstar. A championship well deserved. Congratulations to Sean too, another fantastic rider and all-around great bloke. Well done Max, another bloody amazing video.
Form is temporary, class and talent are permanent. That was a delight to watch, such lines, such economy of form, a lesson in MX riding and a huge inspiration to all us old fat blokes out here scratching around our local MX tracks at the weekend. 🤘
Glen was a hero of mine back in the schoolboys and to be fair he is still , top geezer and one amazing rider

Great story - bravo to him! I am 48, dropped from 18stone to 13 stone in the autumn of 2022, I started in July after seeing a video of myself at a bbq (i wasn't happy) and by xmas i was done and sitting pretty, i rest now at 13 to 13.4 lb floating depending on how lazy i am with eating properly each week - dedication, exercise and diet ! be strict, it is possible
Massive respect. Although we all have two arms and legs, the soft science of skill is immeasurable and a virtue. Talent is talent and combined with the right attitude, it can be optimised. Kudos to Glen.
Love it!! Great job Glen!

Back in the mid-eighties, I would routinely watch a 250lbs + Jojo Keller absolutely whip the competition at Southwick on a 125. In case you were thinking that the competition was lame it wasn't. Up here in New England we have the NESC which is the most competitive organization in this area of the country and back then we had guys like Joe Waddington, Pat Barton, Jimmy Meenhan, David Rudnicki, Doug Henry, Todd Richotte and at least a half dozen more guys who were the second fastest guys in the country right behind the guys in the AMA motocross nationals. How Jojo could make that little bike go that fast I'll never know, but there he was, riding on the red line all the way around the track. Sure, he'd get beat once in a while by guys like John Dowd and Waddington, but for the most part, if Jojo showed up, most of the guys knew they were racing for second place. And if Jojo couldn't beat you with speed, he wouldn't hesitate to give guys a real good hard block pass or just go for their leg altogether. He was an absolute beast on that bike, and his level of aggression was unmatched. But yeah, Jojo made that little bike fly.

There was a program in the early 90s called 'The Lowdown' i think it was. They did a show at Knockhill in Scotland for a Youth Championship round, and featured Glen on a 60cc. Its crazy that that was over 30 years ago. Still the same no nonsense bloke as he was as a kid

Go Glen I’m posting this before you race I’m hoping you win and show it’s possible. I’m a bit of a lump myself so I’d like to say if I had a group of friends with the same motivation I would probably do the same thing. 59 here so it’s all good intentions and enthusiasm but will end up with a broken bone by the days end.

Conditioning matters more than actual weight if you are riding a big bike. But if your conditioning is good, you weight is probably not an issue anyhow. Edit: 6 laps is really short. Thats more like a warm-up..

Love this channel really entertaining. One of my biggest regrets is giving up motocross years ago to buy a house and have kids don't regret having kids for 1 second buy I'm 46 now and dying to get back into motocross. I don't mean to be a dick but the only thing I don't like bout this channel is the dollar thing and not pounds I don't get it? I actually thought the channel was American when I first watched!
