You can increase the number of helicopters per station by raising the budget slider. Same for any other public service.

I'm not sure that Tiny Weenie Street really counts as an "entire city", since it doesn't have to handle its own utilities or emergency services (though it DOES imply that it would work). I'd honestly love a mini-series where you tried to make the smallest, most compact city possible, *including* stuff like power generation, water treatment, and waste disposal, without any mods that would allow you to futz around with demand.

@@MrHenkkkie The water physics in the game are a bit off. Flow doesn't divert naturally when it hits an obstacle like it would in real life, it tends to reflect instead, behaving more like a light wave. I think you're right that a water source placed anywhere in a version of the unilluminable room would eventually fill the whole thing, given enough time. But I suspect it would take a long tim to do so, bouncing off of surfaces in such a way as to miss parts of the room for a while. You see a similar effect when constructing a dam in the game. If the area you have sectioned off has an irregular cross-section, the water level can be uneven at times while filling up, as little pockets take longer to reach.
That transition from the game to your screen was superb.

Just letting you know that in the states you usually pay for gas AKA petrol at the pump with your card. normally they still have a building there for the employees that doubles as a shop, but sometimes they don't even have that. just a little building or two(depending on the size of the petrol station) that can barely fit a chair for the person keeping an eye on the place is a viable design for places that only allow card(such as Costco's gas stations where the main building it often way across the big parking lot if you wanna look up pictures of an example)
@louieberg2942

Yeah, same in The Netherlands. Only highway stations tend to make you enter a building to pay, but others just are completely without employees.

Did you know you could maximise the amount of helicopters or other service vehicles by going to the economy tab and rising the budget for the service?
20:50 It's a swarm of mosquitoes! No, it's a swarm of birds! No, it's actually a swarm of helicopters...
It would be interesting to see how much the cleaning up after the meteor strikes/sinkholes costs vs. just leveling the terrain directly. I don't think patience is the limiting factor in level terrain with meteor strikes. It leaves a choppy mess that has to be smoothed. Sure, you could flatten the taller bits with more meteors but then you have troughs that need filled. So, it'd be interesting to see an actual side-by-side comparison between costs. If you're speed-running Cities: Skylines it might be worth it, but normally I think the actual cost to the "free" terrain shaping would be not worth the major hassle.
@benjaminharmon6541

Do it like using sandpaper! Use huge meteors first, then smaller ones, then finally small sinkholes.
I dont play this game, but this is interesting to watch to see how deep and detailed the developers went when designing features.
Another reason Atlantis may be flooding is because the poop water is constantly flowing in but their may not be enough pumps in the lake to suck up the water, meaning their is more input than outflow causing the water to over-top the dam.
An interesting water physics test in City skylines would be to try and create a Penrose Unilluminable Room. Stephen Mold has a good explanation of how it works on his channel.

The gas station looks like it's based off of an American gas station. Here in America, most gas stations have you pay for fuel at the pump, and the building part is just where you go to get snacks and stuff. Keep in mind, this isn't true for all stations. In some states, most notabley Oregon, you can't legally pump your own gas, so you pay at the building and they come out and pump the gas for you. Theoretically you don't need to have a building in most states, just the station, but I haven't seen one like that yet.

You have a talent for asking the big questions that I didn't know I needed the answers for.
I love the dedication of the fire helicopters. The entire ocean has welled up into a wave which is the size of a mountain, barrelling toward them across the entire seaward rim of the horizon, about to dump unfathomable amounts of water across everything which they have ever seen, drowning their friends and family, and yet they nonetheless insist on splashing little buckets of water onto the very-obviously temporary problem of the forest fires. Caps off to them.
Next myth: can a tsunami stop another tsunami ?
there is a mod out there that lets you increase the severity of natural disasters past 10, might help with landscaping (also makes the disasters more fun)
Love this. Hey. Next time can you do chapter / bookmarks for each of your myths? I'm having to watch this in small bits and it would be helpful

@8:41 - "We have eaten a chunk of that mountain out." - Or as it's known around my house - Saturday night.
If you gave the Fire department (and helicopters) the maximum budget you would have 150% more helicopters. You could reload this map, remove the river, let it run, let the fist tsunami pass by, then generate a new one. Then put a lot MORE fire helicopter buildings, but keep them as far from the ocean, and the trees as close to it, reducing flight time.
It is common practice for me on my playthroughs, to spend way too many hours building a river\waterfall apids ature reserve ational park\thing somewhere on the map, going to somewhere else on the map; and, then using "hidden" city drains and water towers to make water flow down it (figured I'd be cheating by adding an actual water source). Also, the tornado blunder was the funniest thing I've seen today.
You should see if you can test the myth that you can manage the entire sewage of a city by strategically setting forest industries on fire and having helicopters use up the sewage.
RCE is about to find out that a Labradors self image will be that of how big they were as a puppy that fitted in a lap just fine regardless of how old and big they are.
Okay, I'm intriged! Instead of myths, I need an "RCE makes a fully functional city in the smallest footprint" challege video immediately! lol!! Do it like The Wedge and The Line (tiered upwards? with quay walls?) Mini-wedge? Mini-line? Teeny-weenie-topia? Micro-peenie-topia?
Here's the question: since rocks are hard for the water and they aren't affected by gravity, can you build a bridge-canal made of rocks redirecting the water on it? Like the bridge of water with bridges but this time with rocks. I would say that it should be possible
"that's quite a hole that is" best line!
Paddy is the best most goodest engineer ever!
• Change fish type by manipulating water and terrain. • Thunderstorms increases wind turbine production. Lightning looks cool at night. • Emergency shelters survive direct hit from natural disasters (earthquake, meteor, sinkhole, etc.)

It's incredible that also the fires weren't estinguished by the helicopters.
There are raise/lower elevation, pick elevation, ramp and.. SMOOTH.. The spikes happen if you don't smooth huge elevation chance, which in turn means you needs a few "pixels" of width for narrow stuff. Easiest way to get minimum width is to first make a wide damn, put the flood walls on top, then flatten everything around the flood walls back to the ground level. The flood walls will keep their height and they are the minimum width that the game engine can do. Then pick the SMOOTH terrain tool and apply on top of the flood walls. Even a bit of smoothing will get rid of all artifacts. Then remove the flood walls. You also get straightest lines and smoothest curves this way. The best part is that you can now also put a road on top of it, since the flood walls are exactly the minimum size feature that the terrain can really support. The spikes are an artifact that is caused by extrapolation, if you look closely you can see the mathematical curve shoot up, overshoot and come back down. We need more points for that curve so that it does not overshoot but starts to behave more like an interpolated curve. Smoothing does just that, it lower the amplitude of the changes and for that, it has to do the right calculation that also fixes the spikes.. The problem usually is that to get a good effect, the brush touches the peaks, and we want to reserve just enough peak data to retain the terrain shape we wanted. Flood walls locks those values. Of course, this might remove some fun as the shapes after those steps does look at least somewhat realistic...
17:54 yeah, no kidding, as long as their backup generators aren't on the basement, everything's gonna be fine
Ohh bit of a real life myth from here: We once had an underpass/tunnel flood in the neighbouring town, and someone did indeed drive down there. Their engine's crankshaft blew a hole through the engine block as the cylinders got hydrolocked. So if you see a flooded tunnel, maybe don't risk it 😄
1:21 This part represents the eventual inevitable trend toward chaos and destruction.

Can a bunch of rocks stop that tsunami? With all the "how to get more helicopters in the air" advice, and perhaps more careful removal of the side river water, can you retry the fire copter idea?
I like that "Busted" is in the style of the strongest shape
id say probably wait for the tsunami on the tsunami map to finish its thing save it at a calm point so the map can be built up before you send a tsunami at it we already know all that is required to start it again is to raise the terrain on the tsunami side i feel that how the map is currently set is a bit of a disaster in itself because you have already set a limit to what you can availably do before it hits i think the larger scale myths could benefit from an initially calm tsunami map removing the water sources currently pressent should also help
I love your channel. These videos are so weirdly interesting to me.
