To be fair the promoter did offer many people an exchange villa that they were pleased with.

Thank you for this insight into the reality of the situation.

I never understand why people buy new builds. I always like to see somewhere that has been lived in for several years by which time any problems usually materialise.

It might have been more helpful to have said this is one street of 17 houses on an estate of 4000!

I started looking to purchase in this area, never mind the geological issues, these property’s are thrown up and never ment .to last, I warn you to be very careful if looking at property especially in this area, the underbuild is an ideal start to show you just what goes in to building these places, notice also I call them places certainly property or homes, shouldn’t be able to advertise, just imagine the misery that has been caused through simply trying to purchase a dream home.

Tragic so many people easily persuaded to buy into a Dream.So many did that way back after doing long stay hols decided to jump in and buy.Construction Companies rubbing their hands with glee! They should be jailed! Left with nightmares!

What a pity for those now stuck there. Heartbreaking.

Not really. They seem to be doing OK, visiting Tesco every week and acting like they are In Eastbourne.

Masa the builders and the local council have a lot to answer for.

I feel really sad for those people.

The section that these houses where built was a huge hillside which was removed this is what caused the problem.

In fairness the majority of those houses are in decent condition, a few are fit only for demolition but some are salvageable. Camposol is made up of four sections I'm guessing most are ok and this problem is located in one section which suggests that the builder was a cowboy and has nothing really to do with the area

I have a place on Camposol and it is lovely without any problems whatsoever. Fortunately many of the properties on here are very good structurally and there is a good community spirit. Anyone watching this should not be put off buying on Camposol. Just do your research and choose a place on the unaffected ares of which there are many. Perhaps your next video should be titled homes in the sun and show some of the beautifully maintained villas. Ie the positive side of Camposol. I was expecting a Zombie to run out from one of the properties especially with that depressing sound track ! LOl

Love this place, brought a year ago. Wish I knew about this sooner…. Not as bad as it looks as I wouldn’t have brought there… ❤

The property behind the green screen at 2:42 is for sale right now at 100k euros. The estate agent video with very careful camerawork to avoid the derelict properties right behind made a big thing about showing the properties in Calle Cazorla from the rooftop terrace saying how nice and well maintained they were. To be fair, many are but at what cost! No reference to the fact that the house next door is owned by Colin, the fitness instructor who was featured in the original British TV programme about the problems after his garden dropped massively overnight in rain rendering the property inaccessible and all sorts of other bad stuff. No reference to the replacement wall between the advertised property and Colin’s which is moving again and clearly cracked in the video. No reference to exposed foundations and holes showing through the gravel where the land is dropping again. No reference to the 4 derelict properties directly behind it and others in the same street. A perfect example of a bad estate agent trying to hide the issues, It’ll be pretty obvious when the potential buyers get there though, but what a waste of time. There are so many other sound properties on Camposol, but dodgy sales tactics like this calls the entire urbanisation into question by association.

So sorry for the property owners affected in this this very small section of Camposol representing probably less than 5% of the urbanisation. We have been living very happily on D sector for the past 16 years with zero structural problems on our villa, never have regretted our move to this wonderful area of Spain

More than 5% affected. If we take each sector, A B C and D and then multiply sector C by 2 to represent upper and lower that gives us 5 different areas of Camposol. I would say the whole of upper sector C is affected one way or another even though some property owners might disagree because of ignorance then we have 20% of Camposol affected, not just 5%.

Some of the roads don't have tarmac, some of the properties have squatters, some of the street lights don't work, there's an abandoned hotel where people just dump rubbish nearby, there's some roads that don't even have houses, some houses suffer from subsidence, there's no public transport nearby, thieves often steal the cash machines, Mazarron Council does nothing to help, the bridge between sector B and C is falling apart, the build quality of properties is poor, water supply regularly gets switched off for whole days at a time, regular water leaks from pipes in street, the whole area is an eyesore and I felt ashamed pulling off the dual carriageway to go home, there's no community of owners, lots of properties don't have a certificate of habitation, there's a road on sector D that is completely blocked by weeds growing out of the road, there's some properties falling apart, I could go on.....

Even on C South the properties that are OK now are likely to remain so. Problems with properties tend to be in the first three years after completion.

How sad!

This is unfortunate for the owners & hopefully they will be reimbursed. But this is to upper sector c only. They built them on top of a hill & didn't let the ground settle prior to building. Everywhere else is OK on camposol

Even if the houses themselves were well built, it would still be a ghastly place to live. Not just a failure of planning, which is all too common, but looks very much like greed and corruption must have been involved. This is known to be the case in some parts of Spain, but not confined to that country of course.

The vast majority of people on Camposol are happy with their villas. The video shows parts of C South which was built on raised land and this has worked well for most of C south but not at the edge of the sector.

Its not just C south edge sector thats affected. Have you seen the pavement in the centre of C South, its all wavy and lumps everywhere

NOOO! Buy a proper Spanish House, through a proper Spanish Agent and make sure they follow Spanish laws! If you want one around here, I have a friend! Seriously. Straight as a die, speaks better English than me. But Camparsehole?? Why would Anyone live on that dump? It in a desert in the middle of nowhere, all you have is other 'exprats' as they think of themselves and it is like a massive geraitric home without the staff!

I went there a few years ago. Looked at some properties. See sector D that's ever worse. The place is in a bad way. There was no way I was parting with any money to live there. Homes from Hell. Feel sorry for people who have brought there.

This has been an ongoing problem for at least 18 years. The slightest amount of homework would have highlighted the issues. I have little sympathy for those who leave their brains at Dover as they head south. The grass is not greener on the other side!

For the vast majority of people, buying on Camposol proved to be a good decision but for a very small minority clearly it was a disaster. C south was built on unsuitable land the rest of Camposol was not.

Great as always I bet you could buy one of those dirt cheap though

They are approx 15 years old but they suffer with lots of ground movement underneath the properties, they are literally falling down because of this.

Why all the crumbling homes? I understand building booms. Were these built on improper substrate?

@@pamwolf609 This whole area of houses was originally campo land. They ferried a lot of the soil from other sectors up to “D sector” and dumped it here. As the rest of the development was selling so fast, the builder decided to extend his project which he didn’t have permission for. Subsequently, he built on unsettled soil and across dry riverbeds, so when the “gotta fria” hit (or torrential rains that can happen), the water had nowhere to go and it washed the soil and the houses away. You can see some of the devastating results of this “gotta fria” in videos posted on KZread..

Do the owners of these Villas own the land that they stand on ,I.E. are they free hold properties ? also , what is the compensation policy , surely to God there must have been a survey carried out prior to the build ,even a seismic examination carried out for the whole urbanization . What sort of a bloody Country is this ! , and you are thinking of buying a Villa there ??????

I imagine most UK estate agents wouldn't go near any properties in this area or would at least cover themselves and mention the subsidence issues.

@@MillieonaVespa yes but it took me years. The saddest part, apart from loosing the place I loved, was after my marriage fell apart and I had a very bad breakdown and ended up on hospital. I am not bitter about it. I still love Spain and I still plan to retire there. Thanks for the kind wishes.

Also if this video was taken 5 months ago (out of season) would have been the month of October then most areas would appear abadoned if these homes are Holiday homes or were mainly occupied for short term vacation lettings. ANOTHER point is Camposol is not in any means a tourist area. Tourist areas are usually occupied all year. Camposol is off the beaten track!!

However, a lot of abandoned properties and even bank propertes do become ocupied "OKUPAS" at some point This is usually an extreme concern for the locals!! THIS is becoming more common especially now due to the pandemia and Economic crisis!! In Cataluña for example !!

So sad to watch this video looking at peoples homes falling down. Spain has a terrible reputation for building on land that is unstable or illegal. Another load of Brits ripped off no doubt and dont tell me the builder has gone bust. Houses in Spain, easy to buy but very difficult to sell...I certainly would not buy there again..🙄

I just watched the local celebrities video where Steve and Mandy appear, it's episode 1 of Steve and Mandy's journey. You are right, they said when they first visited Camposol they thought it looked like a rundown, shithole shanty town. But nothing has changed, it's still a rundown, shithole shanty town

The difference here is that the properties have subsided and can't be lived in. Also these properties were bought with someone's savings whereas in Bradford they are probably council houses for crack heads

They must be holiday homes yes I see some arnt keep to a good standard but most is weeds and gardening easily fixed

I worried about getting a visa to buy in Spain and live think I’d rather stay in the uk with shit weather than get conned buying there you have to be so carful in Spain there more dodgy than buying a second hand car off delboy and boycie on a bad day Spain as some beautiful places but also some very messed up laws and even more unscrupulous people if your not Spanish but suppose not just Spain if your not carful
