Camping in Yellowstone NP too CROWDED? Motorcycle Camp and ride HERE instead! |
We extended our stay Camping in Wyoming so that we could hop on the motorcycles and do a bit of exploring. Wyoming, The Cowboy State, is best known for Yellowstone National Park, but we’re here to tell you that the area around Lander, Wyoming is a hidden gem. So, if you’re looking to get away from the crowds, this place is for you.
On top of all the great riding and exploring, the national forest service campgrounds are a great place to unwind. We stayed at Worthen Meadows Campground. It’s found 3-miles down a narrow gravel road. There is drinking water, fire grills and pit toilets at this fee campground. There are no hookup here or at any of the campsites along the Loop Road.
We’re still winding our way up to Washington and it’s been simply outstanding so far. Stay tuned for lots more to come.
Rich & Chris ❤️

Popo Agie is a Crow Indian word that most people believe means "gurgling river." When the first white trappers arrived in the area the Crow people were here, and that is what they called the river. It is pronounced "Puh - Po Shuh" (two words).

Looks like fun. Those mountains are so beautiful. I’m glad your new tent is working well for you. Stay safe & have a great ride!
Recently I did an 8-day MC camping trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP with a buddy. We trailered our Bushtec's behind the Gold Wings to hold all the camping gear. My biggest decision was which tent to get. The wife & I had a Eureka in the '80s when their motto was 'guaranteed to keep you dry' and loved it on many camping trips. Wasn't so sure about the newest Eureka's. I looked at the Space Camp 6, but ultimately went with the Kelty Wireless 6. Turned out to be an excellent choice. Lots of room inside, double vestibules, and kept me dry even though some of those Lake Superior rains made it between the footprint & tent bottom. This video took me back to our last trip to Jackson Hole where we camped in the National Elk Refuge in 2007 with the kids. We're hoping 2023 finally brings us our next venture out west to many National Parks on the GW. Our plan is to stay in hotels for ease of travel during a limited time away from work. Great job on the video!
Another amazing adventure! I'm confused, I thought ya'all were taking a southern route. No worries, I enjoy watching any route you take!

Nice to see your camping progression. Will we be seeing “hot-tent” camping and larger rain flys during the winter?
My sister lived in Mississippi and hit 3 deer in under 2 years. All were by "Church" signs. She later discovered that entire deer family was dyslexic ;- )
So true, M/C boots are not make for walking despite what Nancy sings.
Just south of Alpine, out in the backwoods is we’re I had my first encounter with a wolf pack, they stopped by in the twilight to say hi … Take care, enjoy the fall up there…

Try strolling around atop Pikes Peak (14,110 ft above sea level). Next time I go I'm taking a bottle of oxygen!
Regarding, walking / hiking / riding boots: I have a pair of Corcoran Jump (paratrooper) boots I've owned since 1982. I've walked/hiked through swamps, jungles and mountain trails. Way too many miles to keep track of. They also are my favorite riding boots. Easy on and off (side zipper), plenty of ankle support, and easily re-soled. You should look into a pair... Just a thought.
Really wish that you could safely give a approximate date when you are at these locations.

Richard, you are missing so much by not having a Tri Glide. Never have to worry about scraping in curves, never worry about dirt or gravel roads and it will pull a trailer very easy with no worry about falling over on hills. Believe me I know they are expensive but in the long run for the traveling you two are doing, perfect machine.

@@davidcowey604 I have been riding since my first bike in 1972. I have hit the ground 3 times and one of them put me out of commission for almost a year with my right shoulder damaged. I still have road rash or asphalt in my right knee from sliding on the road. You may be cute about scraping the road but it is no fun when your ass is doing the scraping.
I know that if I put my stuff next to the fly outside, it would be soaked. I keep wondering if your bikes are over loaded. I'm sure you cover this somewhere.
