Camping in the Heavy RAIN - Surviving the Night Alone in my TENT.

camping in the heavy rain with my tent and tarp. Very damp conditions make for a challenge to get a fire going and keep warm. I cook delicious burgers and relax once my set up is complete. Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks

    I had quite significant mouth surgery a few weeks ago so am recovering at home, can't eat much as jaw doesn't have full range of motion, and I have found your channel so comforting and I look forward to watching a new episode every evening and even a sneaky one during the day, I appreciate them so much. I am in Christchurch. Many thanks. I don't understand why everyone who watches doesn't give a thumbs up, you definitely deserve them. Incredible footage and content and a massive amount to work go into these camps. I certainly appreciate them and it is making my recovery a better experience. Cheers Abel and Victoria.

    I can hear some of you questioning why he just flung his coffee/tea bag away. Coffee & tea grounds are biodegradable & in some instances good for the environment as in they can help change the pH of soil & incourage insects. The bag the grounds are in is also biodegradable making it a wonderful addition to the environment. However, don't get caught doing this in the states as it's still littering. I once thru a banana peel out of my car window onto the dirt side of a highway & almost got a ticket. I think I got off because as a Master Gardener I was able to convince him the banana was doing more good here than in a landfill but littering is still littering no matter the item.

    So Abel you like getting your feet wet - I am assuming you maybe near the West Coast North or South, often you can tell which way the shrubs n trees lean to. Just lovely environment and the typical bush plants and heaps of moss/lichen. I have seen the mechanism to blow up your lilo mattress, just once before yours, so efficient and effortless. Good to know how easy these things can be done nowadays. I love the Birch Trees they have really nice wee leaves and the way the branches sort of protrude towards the outer - just very pretty. Abel, do you not run a Ridgeline rope along your center point of Tarp? I don’t think so, can’t make it out in video. Anyway, this would provide support, superior tension of ridgeline, no stress on the tarp. You would use Prusik knots of pull-out end of Tarp on ends of Ridgeline.

  • @AbelandVictoria

    @AbelandVictoria

    9 ай бұрын

    Na haven’t used a ridgeline I just tighten it up each side and it’s worked pretty good so far. I’m an amateur when it comes to tarps and knots

  • @markcummings6856

    @markcummings6856

    9 ай бұрын

    @@AbelandVictoria No, you really are not an amateur. But a Ridgeline (thru your loops on top, or underneath center of tarp) really give more support and structure as it seriously can be tied out taught! More importantly, it won’t stretch the shit out of the Tarp! Two simple Prusic knots (you can just leave them permanently on your Ridgeline) just slide out and provide tension to the tarp. Plethora of videos on KZread if you are interested or have questions.

    Just a weka, they're annoying af, had one wake me up by trying to steal my frypan out of the vestibule of my tent one morning. They also sometimes wander into my house when I leave my door open and poo on my kitchen floor when I try to shoo them out.

    Great video again. I just can’t get past how much milk you put in your tea! 🤮 I’m a pome so I like my tea strong with just a dash of milk! Otherwise, great video as always.

    @@AbelandVictoria no worries mate! Enjoy your tea just as you like it! Where in NZ are you? I’m in the coromandel. I’ve been away for many years, so it’s great to be able to access, macpc and Swazi etc at a reasonable price. I love my gear so that’s partly why I love your clips. Thanks for all your hard work. I’m sure a lot of work goes into it. Because I’m by myself I’m always a bit afraid of going out into the bush alone. I used to belong to SARNZ so I know too well how easily things can go south. But you have inspired me to get back out there but just be precise in telling people my plan. I have a hilleburg too, but unused to this date! And that’s just embarrassing!
