Camper Disappears, Dogs Found in Camper, Odd Clues Found. RCMP Has Kept Details Quiet. Why?

Hello everyone In today's video we will be discussing the very strange disappearance of Raymond Salmen (65) who went missing sometime around June 9, 2013 in the Harrison Lake area of British Columbia, Canada. Despite this area being very rugged and difficult for many, Ray was an experienced outdoorsmen who had spent over 20 years camping, hiking, fishing etc in this very area and he knew it well.
The authorities found his camper roughly 50k west of the Harrison Forest Service Road, and other odd clues; Sadly Ray is still missing. The RCMP believes he had been camping in that spot starting roughly around May 28, 2013, however, his family and friends are insistent that he left for this camping trip on Friday June 7th, 2013.
If you have any information regarding this case please contact:
Agassiz RCMP at: 604-796-2211
or Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
My thoughts and prayers go out to Ray, his wife Diana, all his family and loved ones🙏🙏and to everyone who is trying to bring Ray home🙏

I think Ray was accidently shot by the party people & covered up to protect them. Initially we were informed this was an isolated location, yet witnesses were also nearby who heard shots. Rays fire was still smouldering & his dogs were inside the camper van, indicating he was unexpectedly, disturbed & probably shot. Horrible for his wife & family, I hope he is found.

I agree that something is definitely suspect. I’m a true crime junkie and have also camped a lot. It’s easy to speculate, but also sounds like RCMP wasn’t working in tandem with the SAR folks who come out and risk their own lives. What in the world is going on with the RCMP and missing hiker cases??? Not just this case, but seemingly every one I hear about that they’re involved with. It’s disturbing that they give the appearance that they’re either withholding evidence, or refusing to truly investigate the cases? Perhaps there’s a good reason, but just for the optics of it, you’d think they’d want to protect their public image. Because as it appears now, it seems they’re covering up something greater. So sad. I felt that when the graduation party was mentioned automatically was a red flag. Was the car with shot out headlights one a part of the party. I feel he went there to have peace and quiet and was irritated with the noise coming from them. Maybe he went over to quiet it down and things escalated from there. Drunk teenage boys can turn into rage. They could of got carried away. They need to question the kids at that party. Someone knows something but to scared to come forward. And the fact with them helping "clean up" got them to come back have the chance to do just that. Doesn't sound like the authority gave a damn at all so those kids most likely weren't supervised when walking around and disturbing whatever evidence could have been there. Or the cops got to it first. To cover for one of the kids at the party.....possibly a relative. Just my thoughts. Hopefully something turns around for some answers and one guilt filled person comes forward. What a terrible feeling to have to carry if that happened to be the case.

I just read every article I could find on this story and there is not one mention of a handgun. In Canada we can own handguns (although since last year or so you can't buy them anymore) but the only time they can leave your house is to go to a certified range. You can't take them camping. This guy didn't sound like the type to illegally carry a weapon when he already had a rifle (which is legal if you have the permit) with him. I call BS on that part of this video.

I agree it makes no sense. I've never heard of or covered a case where the authorities totally spilt the team and had the experts (the SAR team) go pick up trash while the mounties went off in another direction doing their investigation.. plus based on what some of the SAR team members said, the RCMP was very frustrating to work with on this case, they felt like they were not getting the full story and felt the RCMP was definitely withholding certain evidence. For example when they found the pack on the beach; instead of the RCMP having the sar team go up the hill in various directions looking for Ray, they were ordered off the beach and told Ray probably drowned. They couldn't believe it and didn't buy understand why the RCMP was doing these things. Thank you for watching and you feedback!

The not knowing everyday is torturous:( they go back and forth in their minds about various scenarios.. and in this case, his family spent a lot of time and money searching that lake because the RCMP'S official position was they he probably drowned in the lake.. but through several very high tech searches, they found nothing. Who knows what exactly happened that night.. but I definitely believe the RCMP knows more but🤷‍♂️ thank you again for watching and your comments🙏

Handguns are illegal in canada. You need a RPAL license and another permit to transport a handgun. Legal firearm owners are a very responsible group in canada due to how hard it is to obtain a RPAL. No way Ray would have taken the risk of transporting his handgun away from his home.

Yeah I too don't think he brought a handgun out there. If you read all the online articles there is no mention whatsoever of a handgun being found. By the way handguns are not illegal, they are restricted and you don't need a permit to transport a handgun from your home to a range but you do to move it anywhere else including to a gunsmith now. That used to be possible without a permit as well up until a few years ago.

A handgun is not something that is often carried in Canada. There are many restrictions regarding handguns and they are generally kept in a locked container and only allowed at a licensed gun range. I have never in my long life known anyone to carry a handgun out in the woods. If you are hunting or need protection a rifle or shotgun is normal and handgun is not.

Shooting guns at people is a very serious offence in Canada. I am 65 yrs old and I have never heard of anyone belonging to a shooting club, nor have I ever seen a shooting club anywhere and I have lived across the country. Our police do keep more info to themselves and I agree there should be more transparency. I think they may have kept the clothes for dna purposes in case there ended up being further development in the case. We do not know if there was any history of police involvement by Ray. If he had none, they definitely should have looked into that group of campers. So sorry for Ray and his family. He sounded like a good man. Good work Bryan!

Definitely has to do with the party goers. The fact other campers headlights were shot out makes me think the party goers were out at night harassing whoever’s campground they came across maybe looking for things at the site to take. Maybe the headlights were shot out so when they raided campgrounds at night the campers couldn’t drive to go find them??They came upon Raymond’s campground he was inside with the dogs sleeping maybe left his backpack with clothes on a chair out by the campfire seemed like he used it for hiking so not much of a reason to take it inside camper at night. He heard someone around the campground thinking it was a wild animal he left the dogs inside went out to see what it was with his handgun and an altercation with the kids happened. He put up a fight maybe got beat up bad they made him walk with them someone else grabbed the backpack and they took him back to their site near the water. Went through his backpack then shot him. Either they had a boat so they took him out and dropped him in the water or they took him up into the woods on an Atv maybe and buried him. On way back to the party site they tossed his gun. If the casings found at the beach area match Raymond’s gun then they shot him with his own gun. Sad. Either way no doubt those people, kids at that grad party had something to do with it.
