Campbell's - Bigger Than You Know
Campbell's is well known for their soups but that's only about a quarter of their business. This video talks about the various other brands they've owned over the years that we don't typically associate with them.

They've tried to create a whole bunch of new soup lines over the years, but I respect that they've never changed their existing core products at all, not even the packaging. There are companies out there that could really learn from that.

Agreed. Even if only from a cynical standpoint that existing market exists. Don't axe the known working good while diversifying, especially if the new product turns out to be shit. The 'chunky' and 'progresso' soupes are actually pretty good, but c'mon. Red/white can. Not the best thing i nth world, but hot chicken soup, vegetable beef, hell even their tomato. Good stuff. Plus c'mon. Their Cream of Whatever is a godsend for dish cooking.

There is nothing like a bowl or mug of Campbel'l's tomato soup, a grilled cheese sandwich, on crusty bread and French fries to comfort you through a cold winter day. Kids learned to cook and be self-reliant by adding one can of water to the empty can in a saucepan. I love these bigger than you know videos, because I used to work for a marketing and merchandising company. Basically I go in and try to sell additional displays to stores and make sure that my clients merchandise was in the correct places and looking good and all that kind of stuff. About two decades ago, my sister was born. While in the hospital with my mother, I went off to get a snack down the hall from her room. The hospital had small cups of Campbell's chicken noodle soup that you could heat up in a nearby microwave. I grabbed a cup and heated it up. When it came out, I went to take a bite and noticed the chicken chunk was just a big ol' artery. I started to inspect the other pieces of meat, and they were all the same: Horrifying clumps of arteries and veins. I have no idea what happened to cause that specific soup cup to end up like that, but ever since then I've generally avoided anything with Campbell's branding on it.

Campbell's is a long time military contractor with the United States. True fact. I know because one of my grandfather's brothers was a United States Navy Quartermaster and part of his duties was checking shipments of supplies. He even showed me an old supply log copy dating back to World War II which showed the ship he had been assigned to taking on a palette of Campbell's condensed soup cans. Of course, the cans the military get are larger and don't have the familiar red and white civilian labels on it. It makes sense because the cans stay shelf-stable for a long time, making it perfect for a long haul.
Didn't know "Campbell's" even existed, never heard of it. Can you soon make a video of something people from outside USA have heard of?

It is because you didn't finish school lol. Andy Warhol's Campbell soup paintings are some of the most famous pop art/modern art style paintings there are.

Campbells isn't just "American" it's a popular brand across all of North America, UK and the rest of the English speaking world. Sorry you don't live there.

Like I say toward the beginning, Campbell's is available almost everywhere in the world. What country are you from?
Many, many would argue Rao's is the best pasta sauce sold in regular stores. It wins taste test after taste test. And it IS good. But 7 bucks a bottle is nuts. I like the store brand sauce from Lidl or Aldi. It's about a buck and it is good enough. Did not know they owned Open Pit. That stuff is awesome and I always wondered why the heck it had such a pickle juice flavor. They're part of Vlasic. I see.

DUDE! THIS!!! I've even bought jars of Rao's marinara sauce for people who didn't sound enthusiastic about trying it. I'd come over to their house with a jar and cook up some pasta, then force them to eat it. After they experienced the same epiphany all Rao's fans experience, they understand why I was so persistent. Best. Evar. I've even been to their restaurant in Caesar's Palace! I didn't know it was there until I walked by it and I nearly lost my mind when I came across it. Best day. Evar.
I built a couple projects for Campbell's n central CA and found out how many venues they were into back then! Same for Post foods! Most people have no clue how really big and diversified these companies are! Gr8 video!
Great Show!!!!
Obviously, now we need to know how many tomato farms Campbell's (or Campbell's affiliated people) own... That's too many tomats to be coincidence, right?
I'm surprised he didn't mention the origin from Camden NJ. I was a kid when all of us gathered for the demolition of the original soup factory.
I knew about V8 Swanson and Pepperidge farms Because I covered Campbell’s in one of my Christmas episodes. But I didn’t know about Godiva and some of the other later ones! Another great video as always!
6:27 I have that exact model RCA TV! Yes, it works! With an ATSC adapter it gets the modern over the air stations! It's a part of my antique radio collection. I use it to watch 1950's and early 60's TV shows and movies from a 1980 VCR. 👍😊👍
Where is our fan requested video!! "KZread - Why They're Hated"

Disappointed that you didn’t mention Arnotts biscuits…. “In 1997, the Campbell Soup Company of North America, a shareholder of Arnott's since the 1980s, acquired Arnott's in full. Thus, in 1997, Arnott's Biscuits Ltd became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Campbell Soup Company. This caused a significant amount of controversy in Australia, based on the desire for such an Australian icon to remain in Australian hands, and a fear that Campbell's would Americanise the products.”

Probably because the Arnotts name has no relevance to Americans (other than Tim Tams)

Campbell’s sold Arnott’s a couple of years ago.
Chunky Soup was a huge part of my childhood. Man I absolutely loved it. Nowadays, I keep a few cans on hand for those occasions when my daughter or I want something quick and don't feel like cooking.
As a Brit, I've got to say, it's often annoyingly hard to find Campbells. It's probably there, but the store usually only has few cans hidden in the corner out of sight in favour of Heinz or own-brand. Those condensed soups aren't the best on their own but are invaluable as a sauce for other dishes.
Maggie’s Salsa used to be my favorite brand of salsa EVER! Then about 10 years ago Campbell’s bought out the company, and promptly shut it down… Aargh! Damn you Campbell’s for taking my favorite salsa away! LOL

They will always be known first by their soups. The other acquisitions are like adopted children brought into a common family name. Campbell's may be more than soups, but they will never be anything less than soups.

Well done, Sir!
I don't remember those Campbell's Kids being such nightmare fuel
Can we get a video about Ollies discount store
I seem to remember reading that they came up with the name “Prego” because the original name “Campbell’s pasta sauce” didn’t sell well because people thought it would be soupy.
Omg I didn't think he'd actually do it. Cheers mate
Wow this was interesting and amazing that a lot of these brands we use everyday has been around for a really long time
Campbell soups are not in Russia. I believe they attempted but failed. I live in Canada now and never tried it either. I don't want to inherit chronic pain that Americans are so used to. And the normal foods is one of the elements to prevent it, IMO.

Chronic pain? What in the hell are you talking about? You only "have" chronic pain in order to get drugs from a doctor! You don't really have pain, you just want drugs.

Cambell's this week and Amazon the last. Everyone knows these are absolutely huge companies. Your titles seem inappropriate.
This was really interesting for me to watch because my stepmom works for Campbell’s. She’s actually part of the Snyder’s-Lance integration team. It’s insane how big this company is.
I had no idea any of those companies were subsidiaries of Campbell’s. Awesome video
Yo this company is wild. You know who else is wild the company man is wild he be killing it on the videos.
I already knew about most of these brands only because I live a few miles away from the Pepperidge Farm Biscuit Division that bakes Goldfish. It was nice pre-covid to go into the company store and pick up a lot of things cheaper than you get them in the stores...especially the Goldfish.
I worked in the security department of campbell’s soup in their Sacramento plant from 1999 to 2002. I was told that the facility was built in 1947 and at one point it was the oldest plant in the USA at that time. It was a large 4 story building that used gravity to bring the stock from from 4th floor to the noodles on the 3rd, to the kettles on the 2nd to be cooked via steam! It would go on to be bottled/canned on the 1st where it would be palletized and sent into the warehouse. One company I noticed you didn’t mention was Liebig. I remember seeing that logo in the front lobby of the building.
Fascinating...and as a person who works in advertising, glad to see a good success story.
Thanks for all the good content company man! I've been watching since 2017, also, you should make a "bigger than you know" video on Microsoft. Seems like they have a habit of acquiring videogame studios. Anyways, I don't know, it's just a suggestion..
