It's happening all over the world. That's because the same sort of political dynamic has been going on everywhere; politicians cater to the rich, thereby impoverishing their population, they sell off government assets to big asset managers and give out tax cuts to the wealthy under the guise of trickle down economics, with the end result that there is no more money to invest in the population, they deregulate the economy making it easier for corporations to hire people from abroad and thereby cause mass social upheaval, then turn around and blame the immigrants and other minorities and impose austerity when the next crisis hits and they have to bail out their buddies again. This enables fascists and deepens divisions, and all of that is enabled by the media who themselves are profiting from the status quo and want to undermine any real economic change, and who therefore amp up culture war bs to distract from the real issues, and it is further egged on by enemies abroad who want to stir up trouble, like the Russians.
