Camp Toccoa - Where the Men of Easy Company Trained

This is part four of a seven-part series following my adventures in Georgia and Tennessee in May 2021. Here I visit Camp Toccoa, GA where the men of Easy Company from Band of Brothers spent the early part of their training.

I missed the notification, but thankfully JD posted a link. I got more screen time in yours than in JD's video 😆. Looking forward to the cleanup. Thanks for taking the time to record the camp museum. There were some things in there I had missed.

The Watching Band of Brothers part reminded me of my time in the Bundeswehr, a couple of people me included had our basic Training in the Von Staufenberg Kaserne/Base, which had a Museum dedicated to von Staufenberg, after basic training we were transferred to our "Final Destination" the place was known for being the last you'll ever reach cause getting away from it is near impossible, but half a year after we arrived there we were told we should put on Formal uniform, we marched into the city to the Cinema and watched Operation Valkyrie with Tom Cruise.

Watching BoB for the first time about three years ago. Since then I have been searching and studying whatever came my way during WWII. I am so enthused with the subject describing the victories and defeats. The number of people who died, citizens and soldiers just because a hand full of others thought their ideas were better. I follow JD with every video he has produced, he's such a great and informative teacher. Today is the first time I have noticed you and will become a subscriber today. I don't want to miss ANYTHING. I am reading every book I come across from the soldier's view to getting the true word of what really happened as well as the dedication they had going through the strenuous basic training. We are lucky the location of the United States doesn't give enemies the chance to invade, and the fact we are the most powerful and most advanced armed forces on earth keeps massive and ongoing fighting off our shores. Being we are in the nuclear stage of time it will become more of a challenge. I just wish if world wars such as WWI and WWII come along we have citizens who will be as ready to fight as there were then. Jim "Pee Wee" Martin who was with the 506 is one of the few remaining men who fought in his group and until a few years ago toured everywhere he was asked, to spread the truth of what they went through during WWII. He will be 102 years old on April 29th of this month in 2022 just seven days from now. They are all just about gone and without the teachings, videos, and movies to keep them alive I'm afraid the true feelings of these brave men will discover as the smoke of a campfire does. God bless them all for helping us keep our freedom for many years. The link below is a lengthy one of Jim "Pee-Wee" Martin giving a speech of what he did and observed when WWII broke out speaking of his life before enlisting, during his training, and his time on D-Day and throughout the war, and later on in life. It's very interestingly told by a man of around 93+ years old. As I said, he will be 101 this time next week. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZpqHpI-Iqse_mc4.html

Cool! I just got back to the USA after three yrs in Belgium and I was able to go to Bastogne and walk thru the Bois Jacque, and in Normandy I peered over the fence at Brecourt Manor. I went thru the streets of Carenton and Ste Marie Eglise. Now maybe I'll head down from where I live in Va Beach to Georgia and check out Camp Toccoa. I do wonder how the generation of today would handle such a thing? I've heard many say that the people of today this generation have become so weak and disconnected🤔
