Camino de Santiago - The Meseta - HOW TOUGH IS IT for YOU? | Camino Frances 2023

REALLY USEFUL LINKS IN THIS DESCRIPTION 😊
#caminodesantiago #caminofrances #camino
****************
My Camino now travels across the famous flat lands of the Meseta and it's longest day without shade or water, the day "after" Carrion de los Condes (or before it in my direction)
I very much enjoy this part of the Meseta with its huge and beautiful skies.

Hi Nick. That was a beautiful video; I loved the drone shots, your humour with the growling pilgrims, your recommendation for tortilla and of course your cheery smile 😊. Have a coffee on me !

Thanks so much again Ann ❤️😊😊. I’ll have that coffee while I’m editing tomorrow. 😊I have most of the day tomorrow while waiting for some friends to arrive at 6pm, then go out to dinner with them and then make them walk 30km the following day 🥵. I at least want to get one new one done and uploaded if not more 😊

I so enjoy your edited content videos more than the live videos. You do such a great job with the scenery and music, plus the addition of your great smile.

Thanks so much. I work hard with those. The next one coming out took me the whole day to edit, but I really enjoy making them. 😊

Se you got new shoes, Hoka speedgoat 5. Good choice! I also switched to them when I started having issues with my feet on my last camino. Great videos I really enjoy them. Keep up the good work.

Meseta is my favourite part of the Frances. It’s where I feel the most free for some reason and all my best life changing thoughts happen there 😊❤️

I didn’t sit In it, I did a bit of filming and then ran back down to the albergue hoping for a coffee. I left empty handed from that one though, I couldn’t find any staff to make one. So, I’m now in possibly the Spanish food capital and I’m eating a Taco Bell just because they have air conditioning 😂

JUST REMEMBERED ONE OF YOUR QUESTIONS FROM YOUR LIVE EARLIER. YES I FOR ONE WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN ENGLISH CAMINO ON YOUR LIVES. I KNOW THERE'S ONE STARTING HERE IN FILLONGLEY AND ONE LEAVING FROM LONDON AND THE IRISH ONE LOOKS PRETTY COOL TOO😎

Great video! May I ask two questions which you may have addressed in another video. If so, I haven’t found yet. Why backwards Maseta? And why did you switch to the Hoka’s. I was looking to buy the Altra’s but would like your opinion. Thx!!

Hi John 👋. I did the Frances backwards as I wanted to meet up with Ricky and Erica from CaminoTellers and also I was getting a bit lonely from doing 7 weeks of back to back solitary Caminos and felt I would like a bit of human contact again. I also did it because people were causing panic on Facebook posting that the Frances was too busy and nobody can find a bed, so I wanted to test if there was truth in it (there wasn’t any truth in it). It was easy for me to get from Oviedo to Leon, and as I needed to meet people in Logrono a few weeks later, it all made sense to do that. 😊 The Altras lasted me for about 550 miles (I probably had a little bit left in them but the shock absorption element was almost gone). I needed some new shoes, couldn’t find any Altras but thought it would be good to try the Hokas which are the polar opposites. I did a very boring comparison and review in the members section of my channel (it’s too boring and gear nerdy for general release 😂).

Since you mention camels, I have a question about doing the Camino by horseback. I've only seen pilgrims use horses going up the mountain to O Cebreiro and I've never seen any footage of horses, anywhere else on the Camino, let alone arriving at the Cathedral in Santiago. I can't imagine any albergues are equipped to handle horses. So what's the deal with pilgrims on horseback? Seen any? As for camels... I think you may have something there... possibly an incredible business opportunity... with a camel franchise of every stage along the Camino. Something to think about under the blazing sun while in the Meseta. LOL.

Camel-Go de Santiago! Just need a logo now 😂 There is a guy currently somewhere on the Frances with a donkey. I’m imaginings the donkey sleeps outside somewhere and certainly never gets a top bunk. I’ve never seen an Albergue with stables or anything but maybe there is a network of places with a field for rent along the way?

I’ve walked with a lady called Grace (79), a man who is currently going through dialysis (mid 70s) and last year a lady celebrating her 83rd 🎉. As long as you go at your own comfortable pace, you can do it. 😊😊
