camila's version always made me emotional somehow. this version sounds like she's already lost the person she's singing to, like she wants that person to know she can't move on with someone else because she still loves that person. meanwhile justin's version is like he's proudly saying he won't find someone else if it's not his lover. idk how to describe what i felt, but camila's version sounds so emotional, almost feel like she's grieving bcs of a breakup or smth.

Justin's version sounds like he is reading the letter out to the whole world, to profess his love and Camilla's sounds like a she is reading the letter out to her lover like a personal heartfelt note.... It was Camilla who wrote this song back in 2018. But she sold the song to JB. When a songwriter sells their rights to a song means whoever bought that song becomes the songwriter. That's why JB appears as one of the songwriters and not Camilla. That being said, both of them did a wonderful job with the song.

Don't forget to mention Jon Bellion and Andrew Watt who most likely wrote the song with her :) Jon Bellion collabed with her before and this song heavily mirrors the sort of music he makes, with him even making a vocal appearance towards the end of the song and having credits to the instrumentation of the track.

Written by all except Cabello: Cabello made minor lyric tweaks in this version like "can't control the future" which became another "can't predict the future" in Bieber's version. Also, "hold me" was changed to "hold on" in Bieber's version, possibly to hint at the song of the same name.

Can't stop comparing every single version of this song to this original Camila's demo. Despite JB and others have made a great interpretation, Camila's version would be always the purest, deepest and most beautiful one. This could have been her most beautiful song. Her vocals are just angelic. ❤

@@malouolsen2180 I think those writers intended the song for Camila, but Justin was recording a version of the song near the same time. In the end, I think with the songs on Justice being completed, either the writers or an A&R said that it suited Bieber better, so it went on Justice. But I gotta say, Camila sounds like she put so much emotion in that recording. It was a horrible move by the writers to say it fit Justin better. I don't even think Justin should've recorded the song in the first place.
