Cameron Carpenter and Sarah Willis explore the Berlin Philharmonie Organ

Музыка

Watch free of charge on the Web: An organ recital with Cameron Carpenter from the Berlin Philharmonie www.digitalconcerthall.com/con...
More than 8,500 visitors came to the Open Day at the Berlin Philharmonie in May 2012. It was an event with many highlights, which also served a good purpose. Through donations, raffle ticket sales and the auction of the Alfred Brendel piano, nearly 87,000 euros were raised to benefit UNICEF's emergency aid for malnourished children. For young visitors, in addition to their own area in the foyer of the Chamber Music Hall and special tours, there was an opportunity to discover the grand organ in the Philharmonie with organist Cameron Carpenter and horn player Sarah Willis.

Since the midforties last century whe have lot guests from foreign countries in germany. The eastern part lerns russian after that, but all other kids in school lern english. Most strange oxfordaccent at the beginning, but later students explore, that there is more than the lift, the elevator. And you havn't rent a flat, if you can get an apartment. First I want to make jokes about her accent, but this Sarah is a US-born british Hornplayerin and wie ich lese, sie ist seit 1991 in Berlin at the Staatskapelle.

Whether you are a CC fan or not....I really give him kudos for having the kids up there and introducing them to the organ and music. When I perform I always do the same thing...bring some kids up on stage and let them play some notes for the audience. I hope that the brief experience will ignite a spark of curiousity and maybe get another child to consider playing an instrument. I know in my case that is exactly how I was introduced to music 59 years ago.

He actually seems like a normal and dare I say it likable person in this - even kind of funny too. It almost makes me think that promotional trailer for his album was a parody - if it is, it's actually a work of genius. His playing is strange though - very messy. I don't know if that's "by intention", or if it's just a hard instrument to play fast. I'd be interested to see him play a piano or keyboard.

I stand by the assertion that you would be surprised how many young people like classical music, especially in Europe. In fact, there are probably more classical music fans now than there were when it was being written. My first sentence was supposed to mean that classical/organ isn't the only high form of music. There is heaps of high quality modern composing, just as there is heaps of high quality classical.
