Unfortunately paying online wont be easy anytime soon since it makes it hard for local officials to skim off the budget.

Wow. What a system.

Interesting video. Ridiculous that it takes so long to be processed, then the fine can only be paid in the specific area the offence took place in. Best of luck with all this, Tigit. Nick

The speed camera I've seen will pull you over immediately or soon afterwards. Its not just on the major highways.

the simple answer is mud or make sure your license plate is covered with a COVID protection mask :)

Ah classic Vietnam. Have to do everything in a very specific location. My wife just had to go back to her hometown just to renew her passport. It's ridiculous. Same for a wedding licence. Same if she wants to sponsor my visa. It's like the whole system was created by people who've never left a single small town their whole life (which to be fair, it probably was).

We had to buy a house in Ho Chi Minh just to get around all the travel my wife had to do to her hometown for paperwork. She even managed to mess it up at some point-I am not sure the exact details-but she basically de-registered herself from her hometown and couldn't re-register herself in Saigon, meaning she temporarily belonged to no province. No province then meant she didn't exist-she became a ghost from the Vietnam paperwork perspective. Took a very long time to fix!

Just point your license plate downwards slightly so it cant be seen from above. All the auto speed cams are mounted on high pole. I have some of these fines but never paid them nothing really happens! but some ppl cant sell their bikes so its very inconsistent

Is there any risk of encountering speed traps up North on the bigger roads, e.g. QL4C or QL34?

I don't think so. But really, this topic is so new, that I have no idea :)

Yesterday, Mong Cai to HaNoi I noticed many towns had new overhead cameras on QL31, hopefully they just go after vehicles.
