The winning performance from the London 12 Bell Competition by The Society of Royal Cumberland Youths. This was half a course of Cambridge Surprise Maximus to which the first two leads were not marked. Overall a stupendous effort and when bloody deserved! Congratulations!
St Magnus the Martyr has a 26cwt ring of twelve bells cast in 2008 & 2009 by Whitechapel Bell Foundry. They are the sister rings to Crediton and High Wycombe and also tuned to a Gillett and Johnston profile. The bells here have a rich and fine tone to them and sound very nice when rung well. I actually prefer these as a ten than a twelve as the trebles are slighty on the shrill side. Whilst Crediton are Kirnberger 3, these are just meantone temperament, which therefore means that the fifths are narrowed so that their ratio is slightly less than 3:2, making them narrower than a perfect fifth.
