🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10+ years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
See any factual food errors in my videos? Please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY POV. It is not meant to offend any person or culture. Peace!

Wow I'm Southeast Asian from Singapore but Cambodian cuisine has always been very off the radar and unfamiliar to me. In fact I don't think there are any places in Singapore serving Cambodian cuisine despite how geographically close we are. Interesting to see that the food is actually quite unique, healthy and very very colourful with the use of flowers. This just made me want to visit for the food. Kuy teav / hu tieu is definitely a dish likely created by Teochew Chinese migrants in Cambodia though

I don't know how many people are aware of this but there currently is a somewhat online culture war going on between Thailand and Cambodia. They keep claiming that one stole some culture from another and I would like to use the opportunity of this video exploring Cambodian food (as a Thai person myself) to spread awareness and to say that I appreciate both Thai and Cambodian culture, each have their own unique food. I do not wish for the two countries to go to war over some cultural claiming.

People were so nice and it was the first place I got to experience Bioluminescent Plankton which i'll never ever forget. Got to try some of the best food I've ever had, but also some of the worst lol. Only complaint would've been the Cicadas, I swear they come with megaphones over there.

I grew up in Cambodia where my family ran a wedding food business for over 30 years and I got to eat a great variety of delicious food. Love all the Cambodian cuisine! The Kuy Teav Phnom Penh, Nom Banh Chok, Bok La'hong, Amok, Numpang Bate, Cha Kreung, Somlor Machu and Borbor Kreung etc... So yum yum, now I live in the USA I'm not able to eat some authentic Cambodian food like in Cambodia.

This is why I always support you, Sonny. Good introduction I like that there is a mix of humor, creating a happy atmosphere. In addition to discussing the food, you conducted interviews with locals to gain insight into and a voice for both the cuisine and the locals themselves. This effectively told the story of the food by bringing viewers into the lives of the chefs, cooks, and locals. Thank you for showing Cambodia to the world, especially Chef Nak and other Cambodians who participated.

I love this guy. He has a very 2000s TV, can-do kinda attitude to his narration that makes me feel like I'm a teenager watching Travel Channel late at night all over again.

You hit hard in this video Sonny! Well done! You got most of my fave Cambodian dishes. The only one missing is you need to try Cambodian hot pot. Sending love and support! ❤
