I’m from America and I’ve been living in Siem Reap for over 1 year. I love it. The Cambodian people are the friendliest people on Earth. It’s very, very inexpensive to live here and the 1-year retirement visa is the easiest to get in the world. No qualifying or questions asked if you’re 55 or older. No bank account needed either. Just pay $290 at any travel agency and you’ll have your “ER retirement visa” good for one year within 10 days.

Tourism is down so far that most vendors are hurting. The prices are so good anyway that I no longer haggle and bargain with them like before covid. I just smile and gladly pay them whatever they are asking. It’s always so reasonable anyway and no one tries to gouge you.

I miss home. the lady that sold you the shirt for 10$ is rude. when you handed you the change money, she didn't even look at you after she handed you the money. in Cambodian culture handed the change with 2 hands with respect. lot of the sellers are shop owner. they don't want to tell you that they own their shop.

I visit my country every other year. if you look at the video, at 20 mins and 48 seconds, the lady handed the money with two hands and respect. At the at 21 mins 30 mins 58 seconds 35 mins 12 seconds with prey and bow the head. you know what I mean. look at when Chris asked her how old was she? she had a glance at Chris. she didn't wanted to have eyes contact at all.

What I am saying is do not sweat on the small things, people need to relax. There is formal and causal. Sometime they causally handed the money. What part of Cambodia are you and your family from? In Kampong Speu people are relax and in the Kandal people are more up tight. In Kandal anything you say and act get you wrong. Beside some Khmer are shy. Khmer culture is different fron US culture. Yes, I understand what you are saying.
