had a '16 1SS, now I have '17 SS 1LE. as a sports/track car and non-daily driver, the 1LE is a no-brainer. incredible value but I held onto my 2016 Audi S3 as my daily for when it rains or if I want to just take a more relaxing drive. as an only car, the 1LE definitely isn't for everyone (including me). as a performance toy, you can't beat it.

Thank you. Loved my 2SS 1LE. Traded for a CT4 V as it was smoother, easier and more plush. Fun factor comparison not even close. Miss those Recaro seats, that exhaust and just the mean and low handling. It was a bit stiff tho. My 2SS 1LE did have heated and cooled Recaro seats (2019)

Hey Matt, enjoy your reviews and especially your attention to detail. It's amazing the mfg hasn't hired you to put this info out on all their cars, it's so much more helpful than their fully commercial website, and you're so much faster than the big magazines. What I can't seem to find the answer to is this: what exactly is the difference between the SS's MagneRide FE3 suspension and this 1LE's Magneride FE4? I'm sure it's more 'track tuned', but what, in detail, does it change? Track mode programming? What hard parts? There is NOTHING out there on this and you'd be the first to feature this if you do...

It boils down to the tune itself. The Mag ride in track mode is even stiffer over the SS and the damper provide a much more stiff ride over the SS setup. They really do not go into more details than that.... But from what I have seen it rides mostly the same, but can take corners better and the tires on the car are stickier.

The 1le refuses any of the weight-adding items. Heated and cooled seats are heavy as f***.

Update!

I know it's a different model year, but I had a '14 1LE that had lighted doors, no ricaro seats, and mine had it, but MPP doesn't come on all 1LEs. Definitely a badass car. Plus due to the different gear ratios from the regular SS, the 1LE can hang with and beat a Mustang GT in the 1/4 mile unlike a standard SS.

Hey Matt, I just bought my 2022 Camaro 2ss with the 1LE package, in Wild Cherry tintcoat yes very sharp-looking car I bought mine in November of 2021

zl1 just arrived at my dealer in covina today! looks and sounds amazing! manual in black excposed carbon hood. I wish you could do a review of it or something soon. love your videos bro, even though I just have the 4cyl 1lt but still a camaro 😂

+Upshift Unlimited Fairly sure he is going to stay mostly stock like he kept his last 1LE. His GF has a black 1SS we have been having fun with.

Another great review! But I have to say, I'm looking for a show car, and I think paying the $1600 (They are charging $1700 where I am) is not the way to go for me. I'll stick to a 2SS or ZL1 with a sunroof and a manual trans.

Thanks for all you do. Great info. I placed an order for a 1SS 1LE back on 7/27. I recently found out from GM Authority that the 1LE is on constraint until Oct. My dealer didn't tell me that. They thought I would get the car in Oct.. At this point I don't want the car until spring with winter coming. Is a 2SS worth the extra $5,000? Thanks!

I am going to be copping on of these this next weekend. There is two on the lot that I checked out. One is white and one is the blue. Which one do you guys prefer? I can’t really decide myself without getting some advice first.

I would like you to do a color poll. I think I would tire of this blue after a month or so but it does pop when you first see it.

you can LPO the Ambient Lighting for the doors ( the 1SS radio LED stripe is only white LEDs)

Love the car just not sure it's worth 7k for someone who has no plans to track it.

Didn't get the 1LE but my SS had leather interior and Recaros added. The 1LE is a great package but if you don't plan on tracking the car it may not be necessary.

yes you can add the lighting package it cost an extra $1200 to the package.

The problem is your stock trunk has the holes for a 3 stationed spoiler. you would need to fill those in or get a new deck lid. Or find a LT guy who wants a SS trunk and spoiler. and swap.

I might be wrong about this. But doesn’t this come with an extra cooler? Trans cooler?

I believe it comes with 391 gears also

The funny part is, I was never really going for a 1LE clone. I did a lot of my changes before the 1LE was revealed.

I didn't hear you mention the radiator upgrades that this one has that the 1ss are the two SS does not have I believe it has some transmission cooling as well

corey blacksher cooling system is the same as the 1ss/2ss but it is part of the upgrade for the v6 1LE

That is correct.

I had a 2015 Black 1LE and I loved that car. I have the Ultra Blue 2016 2SS now. If I had to pick between the two I'll take my 2015 1LE over the 2016.

The Recaro seat's backrest is so short and has no adjustable headrest, and bummer I don't fit. I will keep my 17 SS.

Will they actually allow you to test drive it? I know when I went to drive a new Corvette, they wanted me to give them a $500 non-refundable DEPOSIT!!!

I'm still liking the 2ss. Have read good things about the 8A trans. For me the 2ss is a better value.

Skip Hedgepath I drove my cousins 16 2SS A8 and loved it but ended up trading my 14 2SS for the 17 SS 1LE. I don't mind throwing the gears my self and not too much traffic to worry about, also don't mind it being .3 sec slower lol. I guess it all comes down to preference.

When I go into my dealer to order my car... I'm going to run both options. If I can afford the 1le that's what I'll order. If not then ss it is. Either way I don't think you can go wrong with this car.

Are the Recaro seats manual or power seats in the 1le? Cant find any information on it

+Lethal. Are the 1LE suspension components transferrable over to a 1SS? Can they even be purchased? Are they just sway bars, or is the actual suspension geometry engineered differently than the other Camaros? I like the idea of the 1LE as a track car but I know I would end up taking half the equipment off (different forged wheels, bigger brakes, different tires, different seats, etc.) PS thanks for sharing your experience. It is helping me make my decision on what car to buy.

My SS already far exceeds my driving ability

1 of the most important things you forgot to say 1LE weight vs 1 SS weight, since they have the same motor this is very important. Ok i contacted Chevrolet and this was there responce,.. : The curb weight for the 1LE 1SS Coupe is 3,747 pounds. For the manual 1SS coupe, it is 3,685 pounds. For the Automatic 1SS Coupe is 3,697 pounds........ So actually the SS is lighter and therefore would be just slightly faster in a straight line race given all other factors are equal. This did surprise me.

Newton Washinton I don't know if 62lbs of weight difference would determine a race between a (manual) stock 1SS and a stock 1LE. Suspension set up and tire set up play a roll which the 1LE has the advantage on. I think on a straight line they might be real close tho, on a circuit it's 1LE all the way.

I honestly have been waiting years for chevy to come out with a special car so i was almost going to get the 50th anniversary edition, then i found out about the badass 1le so i waited for this to come out but i really thought about it as im only 20 and want an affordable car payment if i quit my job to start my own business so i went with a 2017 camry se. sad but affordable for now.

But it took some time to do so.....cuz today's camaros are way out of price for a average middle-class worker not like the camaro n firebird of the pass😠 these today's camaro are just as or close to be just as expensive as the freakin vett😡...... 2018 update = assuming since this is an old video everything you said then was true. I guess in 2018 Chevrolet starting making the 1LE’s available in the 2SS bc I bought one. The Ricaro seats are heated along with all the other bells and whistles the 2SS comes with. Love the car couldn’t be happier

+iAmVeryHairy The Auto 1SS or 2SS in a straight line is faster than the 1LE. The 1LE will beat both the 1SS and 2SS around a race track

The new ones can come in automatic (2019-2023 1le)

The 1LE is $4500 stand alone. And if it was a dedicated track car, it would come on a base 1LE, not a luxury loaded 2SS. Kinda stupid to have a 1LE on a loaded 2SS.

well a gt350 is a Mustang... But a GT350 or a ZL1 would be in good company. The ZL1 would whoop most of their cars asses including the GT350 and GT350R

1LE= Track ready yes but No premium Bose system, no leather (although I don't mind the Ricaro seats if it comes in different colours), no camaro door illuminated emblem? Only in manual? Heavier car? No remote start button. I was gunning for the 1LE for a long time but you just messed me up with this video. I will have to seriously reconsider my options. I'm now thinking just 50th anniversary with all black and silver satin stripes, black interior red stripe (leather or ricaro), black 20" graphite rims, satin black/silvet front splitter and spoiler. Or buy both.

+E pop both with a manual transmission... the 1LE will win in a straight line. vs an SS with an A8 auto, the A8 equipped car will win in a straight line but would lose on the track.

Have they removed the transportation Spacers? Ride height (wheel gap) looks very high.

The 1LE doesn't have them.

How can they already be deliverying 1LE package but my dealer cant even try to order one. Im going to get one in v6. For 2017 you can only get a manual v6 in 2LT. So you can pay the same for a LT 1LE v6 manual or 2LT v6 manual. So about 33 grand. The 1LE package is a little cheaper on the v6, at 4500.

For all interested in purchasing a 1LE, being a 1LE owner if you decide to sale, trade it in Kelly Blue Book does not recognize the 1LE as an acutal model. This is due to the limited production. That being said, you're going to lose an additional 8-10K in value versus the standated SS.

I have my doubts about that. A 1LE may be a bit more expensive compared to the standard 1SS but not 8-10 grand more, not even close to that.

+oscarbonilla86 Depends on what you want to do with it. The 2016 SS outperforms the 2015 1LE in every way to be upfront, so unless your simply in love with the 5th body style, get the 16 1SS.

The 1LE is a 1SS model, well it was at the time of this video. The 1LE adds in Magride and elsd. The 2SS would pay extra for magride and can't have elsd in the 2017 model.

Don't rub your hand over the mirrors. You'll spiderweb the clear coat. Especially when your ring was heard on the mirror.
