    As someone who has been riding horses since the age of 2, I have to say that Glastrier's concept might also be a cold-blooded horses, a group of horses that house draft horses such as Percherons, Shires, Clydesdales, and Belgians. The icy fetlocks seem to be similar to the feathering on many draft horses that cover most of their hooves Edit: Oh, and I didn’t realize this until recently, but Spectrier does also appear to be based on the Friesian. Perhaps the Old English Black origin was foreshadowing the release of PLA.

Cold-blooded horse breeds tend to be larger, heavier, more placid, but also slower to start running and slower to train. Well, now you've got me thinking. If Glastrier and Spectrier both have one eye covered, and you bring up division, is this a Tao Trio sort of situation? Like Glastier and Spectrier were once a single Pokémon, like Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem, but over time, as people forgot them and Calyrex's grip began to slip, they divided into two beings, and as Calyrex was seperated from it's Noble Steed, it even began to forget what it looked like. Now, since people are remembering Calyrex, but only one of the horses, the two will never be one again.

    Personally I think it’s a power equal and opposite to Eternatus. The lore in the Crown Tundra says that Calyrex arrived wounded and exhausted, near death. There are also dex entries about how it “saved the creatures of a forest from a meteor strike.” Is it possible it saved Pokémon during the Darkest Day and battled Eternatus?

  • @druidt8949

    @@halberd-3291 Not just possible, likely. Throughout the Crown Tundra you can find statues telling the story of Calyrex, and one of them says that Calyrex feared an open palm, and what does the true form of Eternatus look like?

  • @halberd-3291

    @halberd-3291

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@druidt8949 Damn, I missed that one. Another thing is that Eternatus might have first landed in the Max Lair in the Crown Tundra. There are devices like in the power plant beneath Hammerlockr, where it broke out in SwSh’s climax, space-time is warped and broken in the Max Lair, it’s an immense source of Eternatus’ dynamax energy, and it’s rumored there is a “giant wishing star” deep within, which could be a kind of egg for Eternatus. So, if Eternatus originally emerged beneath the Crown Tundra, it would be beneath the highest point, the Crown Shrine, with the giant sacred tree of Calyrex. It’s similar to the serpentine dragon Nidhoggr of Norse myth, who is trapped underground, and gnaws on the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil. And at Ragnarok, the war between the gods and the giants, Nidhoggr finally emerges. Eternatus is also a serpentine dragon that slumbers underground, beneath the “great tree” of Calyrex. Like Nidhoggr it seems like an entity of pure destruction. It emerges during an apocalyptic battle for the world, the Darkest Day, where the heroes of Galar fought the “giant” dynamax Pokémon it created, like the battle between the gods and giants in Ragnarok. There are even more connections but this all but confirms Calyrex fought Eternatus, especially if he is inspired by Odin like Lockstin suggests. The lore of Galar is honestly incredible.

    The crown tundra has so many things to analyse in terms of lore, I think that it would be nice if one day we got a book telling the chronology of each region and they explain thing like this. Because it looks like Eternatus arrives to earth 20 000 years in the past, but the interesting thing is that the darkest day and the creation of the ultimate weapon happened 3000 years before the present, so what if after the ultimate weapon was shot, the energy made Eternatus wake up, this because the regions are very close between them and it is even posible that the war was between Kalos and Galar. After this Calyrex would try to fight eternatus (this is why he has a blue aura opposed to red dinamax aura) but he would loose and end up like we see him at the begining of crown Tundra, so after this the story of the two heros would happen and the rest of the things that we know. Another thing interesting is that it is pmlied that both heroes were born in Postwick, so it would be possible that before loosing, Calyrex gave to the heroes the power of the sword and the shield to beat Eternatus

    Something that I find pretty interesting is the fact that in SwSh the legendaries in the story can only be stopped by other legendaries. Human help is of course still necessary, mainly to restore the power of the "good" legendaries that can help save the day but my point is that I find pretty cool that dynamic/relationship between legendaries and how it ties as well with their connection to humans in the story.

    But I think there is a lot more to get from the Arthurian legends, the 2 Horses that he can ride, they are Llamrei AND Hengroen, when he rides Glastrier, he could be riding Llamrei, gets an attack called Glacial Spear, which Is based on Rhongomynyad, which was one of the weapons of the good Arthie, it was the Lance that was given by God to him, it was the spear slayer or the cutting spear, the other one comes when he rides Spectrier, who gives It the attack of Astral Barrage, which can be an obscure interpretation of the dagger Carnwennan, which supposedly could shroud His user in the Shadows, bot weapons are used on conjunction, so maybe that is a reference too

    Its mind boggling at just how deep the creators delve into myths and of the allegories behind each design that really gives them further depth rather than just something picked out of the reject bin because there was nothing left, not sure if there will be much change within the Sinnoh remakes but it does make me all the more excited for the legend of Arceus now. As for the reigns of unity, I would have considered that part of the game to have taken inspiration from the golden bridle of Pegasus and Bellerophon, though the Irish myth can also make sense that particular story however, was the first that came to mind when it was mentioned.

The deceased souls of the pirates who defeated the Spanish armada under her command. (apparently there is an actual legend of Sir Francis Drake doing a Wild Hunt so that checks out). Drake and her ghost armada might not ride horses but she _is_ the rider class and the riding ability gives the servants the abilty to ride basically anything, like how King Artoria Pendragon could drive a car or motorbike. She preferred motorbikes of course because they're closer to horses lol. (Artoria is usually a saber but her saber form has the riding skill, as do all the of the Knights of the Round as sabers)

  • @PansyPops

    @PansyPops

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Stevenbfg is Ireland more relevant and well-known internationally? I’ve never really heard people talk about it. I hear a lot of people talk about Wales though, since I grew up within driving distance of Wales and people would occasionally go to North Wales for a holiday. I would doubt to get a region based off Ireland, else they may get a tad bit of backlash. The IRA may stop them from making an Ireland region for a while longer, though they aren’t still active (as far as I know) GameFreak would probably like to avoid provoking them. They _could_ do another Alola like idea, two different islands for Northern Ireland and Republic Of Ireland. They could go the extra mile and do a third island, for the Isle Of Man. We do already have the Isle Of Armour, which is partially based off Isle Of Man, so that may not happen. There are plenty of smaller islands in the UK they could do, like the Isle Of Wight for example, but it might be difficult to connect them all without just doing a colder climate of Alola.

    Ok as a British guy there’s one thing that shocks me and that is, how detailed and how British our Galar Pokemon are. Like it’s shocking how much Game Freak lore, design and inspiration they put into all of our Galar Pokemon and may I be bold and say so far the most inspiration they done for a regions Pokemon. You can say anything you like how good or bad the Sword & Shield games were but there’s no denying that the actual Pokemon were made perfectly for the region (even the people that might not like the Pokemon can’t deny that fact, after all people can still hate perfection which is actually part of the reason why King Arthur got killed because he was too perfect of a king and a lot of people didn’t like that)

    I thought of this following your recent mythical video, but Calyrex's Massive Crown reminded me very much of sultans, rulers of another kind of dynasty, with their large headwear. Considering horses are believed to have been domesticated in South Asia where sultanates occur, and that sultans are often depicted on horseback (there is even a horse breed called a sultan) with their horses having decorative plaited tails (much like Glastrier) ... I really feel that there is a strong hint at the next region being India and surrounding countries. Combined with Cuphant and Copperajah, Sinistea and Polteageist, and Urshifu referencing Martial Arts from that region... the hint being "redwood" which India has a protected endemic and culturally significant species of redwood tree. I think so.

    It's a bit of a stretch, but another horse and rider inspiration could be the Greek hero Bellerophon, the only man to tame Pegasus. Pegasus was wild and unrideable until Bellerophon fitted him with a bridle he received from Athena. Technically, Pegasus also had a brother, a man named Chrysaor. The two sprang forth from Medusa after Perseus cut off her head. It's not a great fit, but given the ties between the cultures of Britain and Rome, and Rome and Greece, I thought it was worth mentioning

    I also think that these Pokémon, especially the horses, are based on the Celtic Dúllahan, or a Headless Horseman who rides on a ghastly horse that brings the cold. Of course, Calyrex has a rather large noggin, in contrast to being nogginless, but due to the supposed blindness of the horses matching up with the Dúllahan as well I always took it as a given inspiration for these Pokémon.
