Calypso Summer 1960-61 Part 1

In the summer of 1960-1 a team of cricketers from the West Indies visited Australia. They came as underdogs but left as the most loved sporting team to ever visit Australia. The series became known as the 'Greatest Test Series Ever Played' and included the first ever tied test.

The umpires still shafted West Indies though and they did not complain.

Wesley, thanks for rekindling this attitude-forming boyhood memory when everything was possible. I remember in great detail the commentary on my static-invaded little radio on the Corentyne how sweet the taste of achievement was. May those attitudes return to our cricket and way of life!

1:47 I still regard it as the greatest test match ever played. The second greatest would be the Adelaide test of that same summer, where the 9th wicket partnership held fort for 2 hours to garner a draw.

Anyone who is not white is colored, thus non whites. That term is now considered politically incorrect. I personally like African American or Afro Caribbean.

You forgot the Age of and Era in which these Cricketers grew up. Back in those days West Indians called themselves Coloured, because we are of mixed races. Furthermore people from the African Continent laugh when they hear the Term, "African American" or "Afro Caribbean." As far as they are concerned, the Black people of America and the Caribbean ceased to be "African" when they were taken from the Continent during Slavery. I learnt that straight from the horses' mouths. You should just appreciate these men for who they are and the experiences that thet had, for they are now are all in their late 80s. Do not rewrite their experiences.
