I really like these little "arcs", they come by surprise, sometimes they give you a deep message, and the next strip is about Calvin doing something gross in the lunch.

This comic was in memoir of a kitten he found in front of his doorstep, frozen to death. I can barely type this comment lol just sad

Will it make it a bit better for you if I tell you the same happened to me? But she managed to get to the doorstep so I could found her. I brought her to work with that I will get her to veterinarian after he opens. I told my mom, but I couldn´t even talk - so I unintentionally scared her so she came asap. Well, the kitten couldn´t feed herself with milk - but she was hungry! Luckily I was helping in animal shelter and they took her in. I left quite large amount of money to take care of the kitten. It took two weeks of agonizing wait...but she made it and now is adult :)

It's a universal story. Every kid and every parent has gone through something like this at least once. I suspect a lot of times in many cases.

I feel bad for Calvin in this strip. The world is a stupid place. (Sniff).

Even though Calvin and Hobbes wasn´t (sadly) part of my childhood, becuse at that time he wasn´t even in my country. But after finding them - Watterson is genious. This is terryfing for most of the children (and even adults, including me), but this has heart and is quite sensitive to younger audience. At same time he shows the harsh reality of life. It´s chilling for me that the same words were used by my mom and friend who runs animal shelter : At least they died in warmth, well fed and not alone.

My grandfather believed we were here for a purpose and wouldn't die until we'd accomplished it...I'm 80...I probably walked right by my purpose, a hurt raccoon and it died alone which would mean I blew it and will be here forever. Or maybe I'm supposed to run one over to balance things out? Problems, always problems...

I always imagined the little raccoon got attacked by some kind of predator… survived the attack but was mortally wounded.

must be an early strip, the drawing is not as good as usual later. story a little weak and forced as well, i think.
